TEST-DRIVE MEME

Maybe you've considered appping a new character but you're not sure how well they would adjust to the in-game scenario? Well, here's a chance to give it a try!
• Post with a character journal you'd like to voicetest or you've considered apping to Ruby City. Feel free to play them as newcomers or as if they've been here for a while - the setting is your own choice.
•Respond to other threads with new characters or with characters who are already in the game.
• Explore different interactions, find castmates, develop possible CR - anything you want, as long as you have fun!
Emma (Jack's sister) || Rise of the Guardians
J-Jack?
[Jack, I'm scared.]
Jack?
[We're gonna play a game. Hopscotch, just like every day.
Just like every day. No. Not like every day. Every day didn't include thin ice.]
Jack!

That voice...

He lands behind the girl to start with, breath catching in his throat when he sees that it is her. Somehow. She doesn't look like she's aged at all from the memory that he saw. The skates over her shoulder make him freeze, but he wets his lips and manages to call out her name.]
E-Emma...?
no subject
That voice is familiar. She heard it just a little while ago, before-]
Jack...
[She's imagining things, she has to be. And she doesn't want to turn around, tears stinging at her eyes for a moment. She doesn't want to but she does.]
Jack?
no subject
He steps a little closer, crouching and placing his staff on the ground.]
It's okay. You're gonna be alright.
no subject
Jack, is that really you?
no subject
Yeah, it's me. I'm a little different to what you remember but I'm still Jack.
no subject
You fell through the ice.
no subject
I did.
no subject
But you're here. How? I saw you... I didn't even get to thank you, Jack.
no subject
[Like three hundred years long. He rubs her back soothingly before holding her at arm's length, pulling his hoodie off over his head and reaching for her skates, setting them on the ground. She must be cold, not that the orange hoodie is much better but it'll keep her warm until he gets her back to North's.]
There's something that pulls us here from our worlds, how we arrive on the train. We can't go back. Sometimes it might pull us from different times.
no subject
You'll get cold, Jack.
[And Emma likes stories, as long as they aren't scary and don't lead up to Jack playing any tricks on her.]
no subject
I don't get cold anymore.
no subject
Is it because of how cold the water was? Is that why your hair is different?
no subject
Kinda. D'you remember mom telling us about the Man in the Moon once?
no subject
Uh-huh, I remember. What does that story have to do with it?
no subject
[Even if Manny is a douche sometimes, he kind of owes it to him to spread stories about him. He brushes his hand over her hair, dusting off the stray frost that had collected there when he'd put her in the sweater.]
He gave me back my life, and some pretty cool powers to go with it.
no subject
[Wait. Wait! Hold up, this has obviously got the potential for the best storytime ever. So she gets closer to Jack with a big smile on her face and looks expectant.]
no subject
[He lets his hand drop from her shoulders and crosses his arms over his legs, remaining in his squatting position in front of her.]
I know the Sandman, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Santa too.
no subject
They're all real too?
[She had believed but hearing from Jack that they were real was something else entirely.]
Think I'll meet them someday?
no subject
[He leans in almost as though to whisper conspiratorially, leaning in.]
Santa's here.
no subject
Really?
[Waaaait. And then she looks a little suspicious.]
This isn't just one of your tricks, Jack?

Jack is not here, child.
[He really has no idea what Jack you're referring to, but hey, he's not here at the station right now, so that's good enough for him.]
no subject
But...
[No, he was right. Jack wasn't anywhere.]
