[JUNE] Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

Blavat Sky | Black Butler | 4+1

[personal profile] starlightforesight 2016-06-14 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
The obelisk had an undeniably "off" feeling to it. But, then again, so did many of the things in this strange city. While Blavat generally adapted to odd situations with ease (it would be silly not to, given his profession), it was still a bit unnerving to suddenly have such a disconnect of his own future. This scenario had not been foreseen, and that alone was enough to make him wary. There was something disconcerting about this place, and it wasn't just the fact that he had been brought to it against his will.

But.

Keeping a dour expression wouldn't do, and it would hardly get answers. People were at their best (and most cooperative) when they were happy and at ease, so he masked his solemn expression with a bright smile and grabbed the arm of the first person close enough.

"Excuse me~ Would you be so kind as to point me back towards the train station?"

((ooc: Just a note, Blavat can identify non-humans at a glance and tells a mean accurate fortune, but let me know if there's something you don't want him pointing out.))
rule_britannia: (Neutral ☂ Oh..?)

Non-human here!

[personal profile] rule_britannia 2016-06-14 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"I beg your-!" England's most immediate response is to prise the stranger off his arm. He looks almost scandalised to have had his personal space invaded so suddenly, and pointedly straightens the sleeve of his shirt - folded up near the crook of his elbow - before he even thinks about answering.

"Back that way," he advises, indicating up the road. "You haven't come far from it yet."

He frowns, coming to the slow realisation that this is an unfamiliar face. "I hope you don't think you're getting a train home from there. You're out of luck, if that's the case."
starlightforesight: (Come back to see me~)

That awkward moment when you meet your home country

[personal profile] starlightforesight 2016-06-14 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
If Blavat is at all deterred by the reaction it doesn't show on his face at all, that smile still in place. However as he takes a moment to actually stop and look at the poor passerby he had harassed the fortuneteller freezes for a split second. This is-

But after a beat the shock is gone and he's all smiles again.

"Ah, I'm sorry if I startled you!" although he hardly sounds apologetic, "I'm just not quite the best with directions and I seem to have gotten turned around~" He offers an innocent shrug and chuckle before tilting his head.

"And why do you say that...?"
rule_britannia: (Pirate ☂ Serious)

Oh god I didn't even do that on purpose

[personal profile] rule_britannia 2016-06-14 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
He catches the look and narrows his eyes slightly, but deigns not to mention it further and instead presses his lips together in a displeased line. The stranger certainly doesn't sound apologetic in the least, but he lives with America, who steps on his foot at least twice a week and never apologises. He can deal with this.

"Because that simply isn't how it works."

After a while, you forget that everyone else doesn't just know these kinds of things. "People get off, but they don't get on. Bloody demonic magic in my opinion."
starlightforesight: (I can tell just by looking)

That's even better

[personal profile] starlightforesight 2016-06-14 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
A one-way trip, hm? Part of him had suspected as much but considering how odd the whole situation was he hadn't wanted to jump to conclusions. Well this certainly put a damper on his plans.

"Demonic, hm? No... I don't feel like that's the issue here, unfortunately." For another moment his tone is more serious, although his smile turns a bit mischievous before he continues.

"If it were something like that it would be much simpler to spot!"
rule_britannia: (Smile ☂ ... Heh)

;D

[personal profile] rule_britannia 2016-06-14 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose it would be. Those kinds of things have a certain aura about them."

His experience is not limited even if his experience of success is. There's really nothing like Russia's head sticking out of your floor for the third time in as many weeks to put you off black magic for good. He'd been getting annoyed.

"Come along. If you want some questions answering I'm not standing about in the street." Tone tinged with an impatience that seems simply part of him, he indicates a small shop not far from them. "It's high time for a cup of tea, if you'd like to join me."
starlightforesight: (Nyahaha~)

[personal profile] starlightforesight 2016-06-15 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Blavat blinks for a moment at the invitation before smiling brightly again and nodding , moving forward to follow after England to the shop. "I would love to, thank you! I could really use some tea at the moment, given everything," he chuckles again, a hand running through his unruly hair. He's intrigued as the how this person (no, not person, but that's beside the point for now) knows about those aforementioned "auras", but maybe he can poke for a little information slowly.
rule_britannia: (Smile ☂ Fond)

[personal profile] rule_britannia 2016-06-18 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Few problems can't at least be helped with a good cup of tea," Arthur comments offhandedly, utterly ignorant of the fact that this person already knows far more about him than he usually tells anyone on a first meeting. Sometimes people notice the age in his eyes, or point out when he mentions an event from hundreds of years ago that he couldn't possibly have been present at given his physical appearance, but it isn't often that people simple know.

As they walk through the door, he gestures to the booths and neat tables. "Find a seat. Now, I'll brew us a pot and you can ask what you think you need to know."

He pauses, then, half way to reaching up for a box of black tea.

"Ah, I'm Arthur. Arthur Kirkland."
starlightforesight: (Working)

[personal profile] starlightforesight 2016-06-18 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Blavat chuckles at the comment as he follows along. To many people he would seem oddly composed for a newcomer to such a place, what with his rather nonchalant acceptance of being trapped in a foreign land by a supposedly one-way train. But if nothing else he prides himself in being able to keep his mood up in difficult situations. It wouldn't do to come here and make a bad impression, after all.

Once inside he settled himself into one of the booths, stretching with a hum. Another smile forms on his lips at Arthur's pause as he rests his chin on a hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Blavat, at your service."
rule_britannia: (Curious ☂ Sly)

[personal profile] rule_britannia 2016-06-23 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The composure is odd and noticed as such, but he's seen it in others enough times not to immediately question it. What it does mean, though, is that he keeps a close eye on the man. When people aren't at least surprised to find they've been whisked somewhere else, it usually means there's far more to them than first glance would reveal.

"A pleasure," he responds in kind, ducking behind the counter for teacups and a white china teapot. "I must say I've never heard Blavat used as a first name. Where do you come from?"

The accent had been noticed, naturally, and noted, but accents could be learned.

Blavat drums his fingers against his cheek idly as he waits before taking to toying with the braid on the left of his face. He's watching Arthur as he moves about, expression one of both interest and possibly something a little more mischievous.

"Oh? Well I suppose it is a little unique~" he hums before chuckling. His name is hardly the only thing about him that could be considered odd, but that's just par for the course when you look and dress like he does. "But I'm from London."

The weather was better and he'd gotten over being sick, which meant Ciel was taking a walk around the city. He may not be the healthiest of people, thanks to how frail his mother had been and passed that on to him, but he does prefer to be at least a little bit active. And his daily walks frequently took him by the obelisk.

So the teens arm was the one Blavat ended up grabbing hold of, making the boy stop and give him a look, hand tightening on his walking stick. He may not have gotten along with some people in the city, but most weren't so rude as to just grab someone as they walked by. Ciel, at least, was forgiving. Usually. And this gentleman looked new, if a little strange.

"The station? It's just that way." He raised the walking stick to point in the right direction. "But not many houses or apartments are available that way. You'd be better off looking near the shops, if you need somewhere to stay."
starlightforesight: (Ah!)

[personal profile] starlightforesight 2016-06-15 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
The fortuneteller blinked for a moment as he actually bothered to take a good look at Ciel. Wait- he recognized this boy...

"Ah! It's you! The one with the protection of Sirius!" His need for directions seemed to have been put temporarily on hold as he grinned wider, his grip notedly not loosening on Ciel's arm. He looked about for a moment as if surveying the crowd for someone else before he turned back towards the other with a knowing grin.

"You're not with that dark friend of yours now? I'm glad you followed my advice."
sweetlies: ([036])

[personal profile] sweetlies 2016-06-15 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It was impossible to hide his alarm. Who was this man? Protection from Sirius? It made no sense to him and Ciel had to fight the urge to just tear his arm out of the others grasp. Especially since he seemed stronger than Ciel, just going by the grip he held.

"You've mistaken me for someone else. I don't know what Sirius is." Or how he would have the protection of someone or something he wasn't aware of. Ciel didn't need protection, he would tell himself. He'd always had Sebastian and his servants, he had his gun here and he was a good shot. There was ls the elves that looked in on him from time to time.
starlightforesight: (Come back to see me~)

[personal profile] starlightforesight 2016-06-15 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The obvious confusion on Ciel's face ahd in his mannerisms stopped him short and for a moment the man looked just as bewildered. While he had told many fortunes and met many people, Blavat considered his memory very good and he certainly would remember this boy... Hm. Well it seemed like there was even more amiss here than he had initially thought. But he only allowed himself to be caught off his game for another moment before he finally released Ciel's arm.

"Ah, you must be right! You just look extremely similar to someone else, that's all. I must have given you a fright~"

"More concern than a fright." He'd nearly been ready to start reaching for his gun but he was glad it hadn't come to that. There weren't many resources in the city that would provide him bullets.

And the city was already so strange that, of course, it would attract more strange people to it. However much Ciel wanted to complain, it seemed natural.

"You'll find there's much more in this city to be surprised about than familiar faces."
starlightforesight: (Default)

[personal profile] starlightforesight 2016-06-16 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Blavat hummed thoughtfully, crossing his tattooed arms as he glanced about the area. "Well considering I was brought here unwittingly on a train I don't recall boarding, I had guessed that already. Or is there something more astounding still you can share...?"

His attention turned back toward Ciel, head tilting as he flashed his usual disarming smile. Whether or not the boy remembered him was unipmortant in the end, he wasn't necessary to him here beyond any information he might provide. It wouldn't do to leave the hall unattended for too long...
