/spams everyone with plots once more

Hey everyone!

In my previous post, regarding my hiatus, I said that I wanted to canon update Jane to the events of Thor: The Dark World and needed to wait for mod-approval for a plot.

Well … I got that approval and here is the plotting post for it!

THE PLOT

Jane gets her canon update—but she comes back after she gets possessed by The Aether and learns what it is, but before Thor and Loki team up to get it out of her.

WHAT IS THE AETHER?

It is evil, glowing red Kool-Aid that is older than the universe and is very powerful. It’s also been called an Infinity Stone and is theorized to be the one ruling over “Reality”. It makes sense, because the Dark Elves tried to use it to convert everything into dark matter, a form of matter that is still under debate in the scientific community. It would explain a lot of things in our universe, but would create more questions if it doesn’t really exist.

Um. Tangent. Sorry.

WHAT WILL BE HAPPENING

Jane will come back from the catacombs on October 1, 2016.

She will be possessed by the aether and be freaking out. Anyone who approaches her might get blasted, because it will perceive them as a threat to itself and its host (Jane).

Until someone figures out a way to get it out of her and safely contain it somewhere, it will slowly eat at her life force, resulting in the following symptoms:

    Fatigue, fainting spells
Visions of destruction and other hallucinations
People getting thrown around by evil Kool-Aid
Eventual death and someone else getting possessed

HOW WILL WE DEFEAT THIS THING?

In the movie, Thor and Loki trick the Dark Elves, who have some power over the Aether, to get it out of Jane to destroy it and save her life. Here … we don’t have that option. I have played around with this plot in other games and threads before, so here are some ideas!

    1. Somehow, the Aether is tricked into thinking Jane is dying, so it leaves and gets sealed up then
    2. Someone uses magic to basically extract it from her and seal it
    3. Jane asks for one of the Virtues or Vices for help, if they can do anything
    4. Maybe something can be done with the Obelisk …

So, if you guys can come up with something else, that would be great! I am open to all ideas—same with anyone who wants to examine Jane or try to fight the glowy evil stuff.

WHAT WILL WE DO WITH IT?

Once it is defeated and out of Jane, we have some more possibilities here!

We could easily:

    1. Put it into a pickle jar and launch it out to sea via Norrington’s boat
    2. Contain it in some other manner and hide it somewhere
    3. Destroy it completely somehow good luck
    4. Maybe do something where it could come back (/evil cackle)

WHAT IS THE TIME FRAME?

October 1, 2016—October 8, 2016

I figure a week is enough time to have fun with this plot, and of course, back dating and all other methods of play are totally fine.

I will be making a log for this, so there will be plenty of chances for interactions too!

So, all in all, use this post to chime in ideas, suggestions, what your muse might want to do, questions, and just about anything else. It has been a while since I have done a player-run plot, and any advice of how to make this fun and run smoothly would be appreciated! I am really looking forward to this plot and hope it can be something we'll all enjoy!

I swear RL keeps popping in and keeping me from posting to this. No more! LOL!

I have a couple ideas to throw out. The first ones I really don't think would work well, but the last one maybe might work? Somehow? shrugs RP physics. Who knows what will work when? ;-P

Anyway, first ideas involve Diarmuid's weapons. His spear disrupts magic, but I don't know that the Aether really qualifies as that. It's more of a force of nature really, especially with regards to the matter conversion aspect. However, depending on how it keeps itself within Jane, (if that could be considered magical at all), the spear, if placed against her arm, might cause it to lose its hold on her temporarily? That might really be stretching things though.

Second weapon idea is more about dealing with it after it is out of Jane's body. If we wanted to try and destroy it, Diarmuid does have a blade that can destroy whatever it touches with the slightest contact. Of course, the Aether generally takes a mist-like form, so not sure that would be able to do more than destroy a little at a time. Pretty useless in the long run.

Besides, do we REALLY what to destroy something that could be such a fun plot device later?

Okay, so the only really good idea I have does go back to helping get it out of Jane. Diarmuid has become pretty attuned with energy considering how he has learned to transform his own magical energy into healing energy. This healing energy he has been augmenting with Hamon. At the least, he should be able to help keep Jane stable while research is done. At the most, he might be able to attune himself to the Aether and drive it out of her body since it is harmful to her.

Now what this might end up doing to him in the long run or how the Aether might react to what he is doing? Who knows? I am open to throwing around ideas.

Any thoughts?

Kicks RL to the curb or better yet, feeds it to the Aether

Oh...! You have a good point! I keep forgetting how closely magic and science are tied in the MCU. Mostly because they are usually so separated elsewhere (and I haven't gotten to see any of the Thor movies for so long. sobs).

I mean, yeah, it's all good to completely be rid of a threat, but just think if an angry Overseer was able to pick it up at some point for nefarious purposes? LOL!

It's fun being terrible.

So his spear could work to get it out of her, we would just need to see about sealing it up in something after that if we go that route.

Oh! Also, Diarmuid is on pretty good terms with Chari if we did decide to get some kind of Overseer involvement going on. I am not sure how much Jane has had contact with them while she's been here.

Oh darn, having to interact with Atien again who happens to be one of the Overseers Diarmuid kinda likes even though he really probably shouldn't. I would totally love to see him pulled in. :-)

I now have a mental imagine of Diarmuid using the spear to get it out of her and one of the Overseers swooping in with said pickle jar to catch it. This is an amazing and hilarious imagine! LOL!

On a more serious note, Atien does have the time manipulation ability which might be pretty useful when it comes to actually catching The Aether come to think of it!

I don't know anything about Mantis' powers, but I am always for backfires, bad luck and running for plan b, c, d etc.

It is kind of how his luck goes and I am always ready to capitalize on it.

Well, this seems interesting.

Julian won't be the best suited to helping out unless you want to go the first option, but more literally than subtle-figuratively/technically.

He knows people (including his uncle) that have survived being clinically dead (heart stopped for more than 30 sec), so he understands that it's possible to survive. If it comes to it, he'd suggest clinical death and revival as a possibility.

If given enough time [a week, maybe] and resources [a scrap heap and two or three old vibroblades] he could assemble a basic machine that could definitely restart a stilled heart.
{Anything more complex requires building a proper computer along with the machinery and he can't do that well without a lot of tools.}

My immediate thought was Mantis forcing her body into a state close to death so the stone can be tricked. I'm not sure if that would count as a threat, though, since he is directly influencing her to do so.
