He couldn't really think right, and hid behind a nearby wall, nervous beyond all comparison. Okay dude, you can do this. YOU CAN DO THIS. He stepped away from the wall, slowly so as to not startle her and waved. ]

She jumps once, when he greets her, then once more when he trips. ]

[ She takes one, two, three steps in his direction but stops at a respectable distance, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Her tone is very quiet. ]
