[ Jean closes his eyes, just leaning into Marco. God, he could lose all this-- he did lose all this. He's not gonna let it happen again. ]

I wouldn't want anyone else.

[ And now his heart's beating like a racing car. He closes his eyes as well, leaning a bit closer too. ]

Jean...

[ It feels like his chest is about to explode. ]

I... [ And a few seconds of hesitation. ] ... [ Okay he can't drop it like this time to do a suave turn. ]... I don't think I'd want to be beside anyone else, too.

Yeah, I-- [ Wow gosh their faces are really close, it'd be a shame if Jean leaned forward a bit more but then opens his eyes and wow this is really close like Jean can see each of his freckles and wow this is Jean's first date ever and would Marco even be okay with him trying to kiss him?? Maybe the time's not right-- maybe Jean should say something cool or talk about the stars or-- or maybe the clock decides to chime in that exact moment, forcing him to step back and cover his ears. ]

Ugh, what the hell?!

[ Even if Marco wasn't exactly expecting anything other than a sweet moment, the clock really does ring at the worst time possible, causing him to recoil as well, pulling his hands up to cover his ears. ]

Aaah, noisy...

[ Though it would have been nice if he had manned up but he knows internally that that would never work. He waits out the ringing, and once it's done he sighs, looking back at Jean.]

Guess the joke's on us for climbing up here, ehehe.

Yeah, uh... Sorry, guess I could've picked a better spot. My ears won't stop ringing...

[ And then maybe he would've actually gotten to kiss Marco... That's what you do on first dates, right? Maybe he'll get another chance... ]

Heh, it's okay. I think it's sort of deep, you know? Something about the passage of time and all that. Plus, the view is great!

[ He promptly pulls out the chocolate Jean had gotten for him, slowly opening the box, shooting the insides a confused stare. ]

So, this is what you get for other people on dates, is it? [ That gives him an idea. He pulls out a piece, and brings it over to Jean's mouth with a smile. People are supposed to share food on dates aren't they? ]

The passage of time, huh...?

[ Was that fate deciding to mock him? Destiny laughing in his face? ]

Uh, ah-- h-hey I can feed myself y'know...!

[ Jean complains, but he keeps his mouth open anyway, blushing deep red. He's got no clue what made Marco decide to do this, but he sure isn't complaining when it gives Jean a good excuse to stay so close. ]

[ And as such Marco just promptly gently nudges the piece of chocolate into Jean's mouth, with care as to not hurt him or make things awkward. After the deed is done, he picks up a piece for himself, waiting for Jean's reaction before shoving something that odd into his mouth. ]

[ Jean goes with it, chewing and tasting the candy once Marco's fingers were gone from his lips. The flavor was amazing, sweet and rich and the center was chewy and everything. Jean groans a little, just enjoying the creamy texture-- he'd never tried anything like it. No wonder they were supposed to be gifts. ]

Oh my god, Marco, you have to try this it's amazing. Gimme. [ Jean tries to grab Marco's piece so he can feed it to him. It's only fair, right? ] Open up!

[ Wait, were you taste testing him, Marco! You sneak! ]

[ The reaction takes Marco a bit by surprise, and so does Jean suddenly taking his piece. Eager to see what the fuss is all about, he quickly closes his mouth around the chocolate, his eyes practically glistening as he enjoys this practically out of body experience. ]

O-oh, woah...! [ It's really good, wow. The shock that comes from eating such a massively wonderful thing just completely makes his mind skip over the hurdle that was the fact that Jean fed it to him. ]

You have a really good taste for gifts, Jean!

I-I only got it cause it was a suggestion but, holy crap, I do. [ This place had so much delicious food it was almost criminal. Wait until you find out about the variety of flavors, Jean... ]

There's like 5 more of these in the box? How do they get this much flavor into these tiny pieces?

I honestly have no idea... [ That's pretty much all Marco can say as he stares dumbfounded at the brown chunks of physical goodiness. ]

But at least we should be glad we have them! [ As soon as he's finished talking, he picks up another piece, this time taking it for himself, and chewing down on it delightfully. ]

Right, maybe we shouldn't question it. [ Jean stuffs his face with another two, sighing happily at the flavor. Even Jean will smile if you give him chocolate. Man, these people sure know how to cook. ]

No titans, free food... Seriously, this place is like a hundred times better than back home. [ Two hundred times better because Marco's alive. ]

[ Well, it's good to know there's one more method for keeping Jean under control. Just hide a box of chocolate and keep it around for whenever he gets mad. ]

[ He chuckles a bit. ]

It's too bad there aren't more of us here, but I think I actually enjoy the peace and quiet for a change. [ Speaking as the only sane person from the 104th squad, he really needs a break. ]

Yeah, the other guys would flip. [ He sighs, gripping his temple just at the thought of it. If Eren or Connie or Reiner were here, they'd get no rest. Those guys're so noisy. ]

Mikasa's here at least, but... Even if it was just me and you, that'd be alright.

Well, it's kinda nice to get to know her better, what with Eren not being around.

I'm really... glad we were. [ Yeah, it's kind of embarrassing to admit but. The fact that they're here and Marco isn't dead is the luckiest part. Jean goes ahead and reaches over, taking one of Marco's hands. Yeah, he's blushing. ] Guess our shit luck couldn't go on forever.

[ Marco's heart skips a beat because oh no he's grabbing his hand what does he do. ]

[ Marco don't-- he'll cry-- Like, he'll actually get teary-eyed this is REALLY embarrassing. Everything he's seen, even Marco's death has... gotten him here... ]

Marco, I... [ Give him a minute to look away and hide his gross face. Since he doesn't want to let go of Marco's hands, it's even more awkward. ] I'm really glad I met you.

[ Sorry Jean he's just going to pull you into a hug. You're pretty easy to read in Marco's eyes and he's pretty sure a hug is what you need right now. ]

Jean... [ He closes his eyes, savoring every second that passes. ] ....I'm really glad I met you too.

[ Jean hugs Marco right back, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him close. He never thought he'd get a chance like this again, and he's not gonna cry, dammit! It's warm in Marco's arms and he kinda just wants to stay there. ]

[ Maybe just for a little while. Till it gets awkward. ]

[ Don't mind Marco, he's just going to strengthen his grip on you, Jean, because, really, this is a moment that has to last more than a few seconds. It's just nice to be able to take a break from everything and just enjoy being in another person's arms, friend or otherwise. Actually, he's probably not going to let go any time soon.]

[ W-well the same can be said for Jean!! Just the fact that he can hold Marco close and feel his heartbeat and hear him breathing is... wow. This is like, better than a date. Jean rests his head on Marco's shoulder, blushing deeply but still not pulling away. Now would be the time for some kind of heartfelt confession, but instead Jean just sighs. ]

Pretty sure this is the best date ever. [ Just don't tell anyone he said that. ]

[ Oh god how does Marco even deal. He's now also blushing profusely as he tries to find something to reply with, also setting his head on Jean's shoulder. ]
