Shopping? [He eyed her with the utmost alarm and didn't even try to hide his suspicion.] Why would we need to go shopping? I don't like the sound of that. Either you have been incapable of preparing the date by yourself or you intend to force me into different clothes.

You've found me out. That's my plan down to the letter, complete with smothering you with compliments on how your new outfits 'are just so you' and essentially playing 'dress up'. [Morrigan lets that hang in the air for a moment before laughing and shaking her head.]

We need to go shopping because I'm low on some supplies and I want to see if there's anything you'd like. Honestly. Pretend, for the Hell of it, that I've done this 'date' thing before.

I wouldn't know if you have done this "date" thing before - but I wouldn't care either way, for you are clearly atrocious at it!

[Not that he is any more experienced, which just has him scowling petulantly. Prior to Ruby City, his only experience with romance has been an arranged marriage.]

But I'm agreeable to grocery shopping with you, at least I can make sure you'll pick something I like then. Don't expect me to cook, though, I hardly know anything about cooking. It's women's work.

How did you surive, then? What, people made your meals for you? You've never learned how to cook at all?

I can make simple meals if I need to. [He shrugs.] When I want a proper meal at home I eat in inns or I arrange for the landlady to cook for me as well. I have no home to sport a kitchen, what use would I have for kitchen skills?

In case you ever found yourself with one. [Reaching the store, Morrigan pushes the door open and heads inside.] And so you could eat something besides what you know you can cook.

I had no intention of ever settling down. I still have none, and wouldn't have if being kidnapped to this city wouldn't have forced me to change my way of life.

[He simply follows, content to let her take care of the shopping as long as she doesn't grab anything he disagrees with.]

There is no need to expand my skills, the city has sufficient places to eat.

[Morrigan side eyes him, picking up a head of lettuce and some cabbage, tossing them into her shopping cart.] If you're as lax in regards to everything you can do, I don't expect you to live long if war breaks out. 'Why expand my skills? The army can defend me.'

[She heads down an asile, tossing some boxed pasta in as well.]

Now that is a completely different matter altogether. [He flashes her a glib smile.] You should know that I excel at using my zombies as weapons. Wartimes are good times for necromancers. The fallen enemies become our arsenal... and it never runs out.

Until it does. Or do you always run on the assuption that it'll never run out? [Some meat is added to the groceries.]

There are always enough young fools who have been driven to believe that dying a hero's death is a desirable fate. Besides, if the dead enemies run out we will have won, by then there is no more need for zombies.

[Oh yes, all the cocky haughtiness of people who believe themselves t the pinnacle of power. He may have been shunned by his family years ago but he still hasn't freed himself from the mindset.]
