"That sounds like a bad idea," Maya replied, rolling her eyes. Sure, she totally wants to see how sharp they are, but. Not in any way that could hurt her. Completely ignoring the potentially flirtatious implications, she continued.

"But, duh, I'm from L.A. And Japanese, thanks," she told him, hands on her hips. "But that doesn't mean you're from my world, you know. Pretty sure they don't have shark-teeth guys where I come from-- except on TV."

A little taken a back at the screaming, Hanna can't help but look a little sheepish, running his hand through his hair, "Well, I just have different priorities I guess? I mean, Mario is pretty great. Coolest plumber I know."

Still, okay, he can throw Conrad a bone. "So is he out for blood, or what? I mean, back home you got killed by a vampire, and I swear dragons exist somewhere. Just...they must be really good at hiding. It's not like I'm completely unused to the supernatural.."

"Baby you don't know if you don't try," Veser persuaded, raising his palms in a shrug. It was totally true. And great logic.

"Oh, L.A... Gross. Yeah in that case my world's nuthin' like yours. Mine's not like, an action movie around every corner. How'd you survive there bein' that pretty?" That's right, he's not stopping. But her Japaneseness will be noted for later. "There ain't a lotta people with chompers like mine, so honestly that's not a big surprise. 'Course I'm surprised you saw any on TV drawing atrention to themselves like that."

Wow. Wow. He's almost as bad as Larry. Maya can't help but grin.

"Oh, you know. Cute girls like me have to survive tooth and nail. It's a hard life," she answered, completely casual. "Nah, the people on TV are actors. You know, The Steel Samurai and stuff like that. But that's besides the point--"

With a mischievous smirk, Maya crossed her arms again. "You have no idea where you are, huh?"

"He fucks with people just because he can, Hanna," Conrad grumbled, not wanting to get into it-- but he did have ample reason to hate the man's guts.

After a short pause, though, he added; "But I think there are dragons here actually."

"Well you're safe in my hands... orrrr my arms," Veser states, winking. Steel Samurai? That sounds pretty sweet. "What's Steel Samu-"

He's cut off by her sudden question.Does she know what the shit is going on? Green eyes home in on her face.. for a moment... "No. Why the hell ya know that, girl?" There's a dangerous note in his voice now. If she's playing games, it's not funny.

"Oh...well, that's great. Sounds like a nice guy." The sarcasm is obvious, but that is a little concerning. Especially since Conrad isn't complaining more about it. He might pry later, but that last statement has him perking up.

"Wait, seriously? Have you seen any?" Which kind of came out in more of a rush than the mario statement and Hanna is scooting closer, practically right up in the little bat's face. "Like, where, and what kind?"

So safe, Veser. So safe. Of course, Veser's flirts are a little less important than answering his question-- she's far from heartless, and is used to helping people learn about the city anyway.

"Well, you look really lost, for one," she explained, "and you keep talking like you have no idea what I'm talking about, yanno?"

Shifting her weight to one leg in a slight lean, she starts tapping her fingers together as though counting. "First off, this is Ruby City. And as far as I know, it's not on Earth. Or, not your Earth."

"Wh-- I said I think! I've never seen one!" Batty arms up as though that would keep Hanna from getting too close, Conrad hopped a pace backward.

"I've just heard people talking about them. The fuck do you think I'd be looking for fucking dragons for?!"

He is not the hobbit. He does not want to be burnt to a crisp. Death by dragon is not on the agenda.

...Which isn't to say that if he was guaranteed to come back in the same state he left, he wouldn't go looking.

"Well we need to change that. For the both of us." He nods sagely, which is kind of hard when he's trying not to laugh because Conrad hopped again.

"Because I asked you to? I mean, I can't go alone! And it'll be fun. I mean, I could probably figure out some runes so it'd be safe and you won't wu- uh..." Give him a second, "Worry. Yeah. I mean, Cause it's totally normal to be afraid, though I guess I'm not really...where do you think they all are? I haven't heard any but I guess if they don't want to be found they don't want to be heard either and you think we should pack a lunch? It could take a while and we'd have to go at night, god that sucks...unless you stay like that, but it'd be hard to get photographic proof and I mean, are these watches even fire proof?"

He will never stop, Conrad. Look what you've done.

"Do you listen to yourself talk or do you just try to fill the space around you with as many words as you can fit in one breath?"

Exasperated, Conrad rubbed at his forehead with a bitty claw. "You are lucky this place works the way it does. And I don't know. Do I look like a dragon expert?"

Don't answer that, Hanna. Conrad knows way more about dragons-- or at least, British dragon myths-- than he'd like to admit.

The girls comment bothers him. And as much as he wants to make a comment about being lost in her eyes, she may have caught his actual attention. "Lost. I look lost. Well yea, I AM lost." Good eye on her.

Squinting one eye and raising the other eyebrow, his puzzled look probably speaks for itself, but just in case it didn't... "Ruby City," mutters Veser as he uncrosses his arms. He holds up a palm as if to silence. "You're shitting me. Look, I tell jerks I'm from space all the time an' it's a joke. If that's what you're pulling it's totally not funny."

That is a good point.

"Hey, that one wasn't a joke! I mean it!" With a huff, Maya takes on her usual determined pose. "It's not in space, anyway! It's like another universe. Like in a comic book!

"It's like, a whole bunch of people from different worlds came here. You know Phoenix Wright? I bet you don't! Cos you're not from my world!"

He could probably attempt to repeat all that...just. In a different order. "I bet you'd do the same thing if I put a..." Well. He doesn't rightly know what you'd geek out over, but he knows you're just as much of a dork as he is. "Well. Something you like. You'd do the same thing. I'm sure."

But. Really, did you ask? "Was that rhetorical or..?"

There has never been a moment that Conrad has more appreciated Hanna not knowing about the things he likes. Because it's probably true.

"Yes. Very rhetorical."

The unimpressed stare he give Hanna could probably intimidate children.

If he wasn't, you know, a bean-bag looking bat.

"...Well, with an answer like that, do I even need to ask? I think you answered it for me, dude." His grins back at Conrad's, brightly fighting his stare, settling back in his chair now that he wasn't entirely freaking out.

"But I mean, come on. Doesn't that sound like fun? Live a little!

"The HELL? I thought I was across town or some shit. Another world!?" Somewhere in the back of his mind Veser knew he shouldn't be as surprised as he was, hanging out with the people he did, but still. "This isn't fucking Chrono Cross!"

His mind raced to find a logical answer, but really logic had little place in most of his life anyway. And it really wasn't like he cared to use it most of the time.

For the better part of a minute he just stands there, mouth partially slack while he tries to process this. "Just 'cause I don't know him," Veser says acusingly, throwing his arms up, "H..how the fuck dyu expect me to know EVERYONE in the world, lady!?"

And then the weirdest thing clicks. Phoenix. Wright. Phoenix Fucking Wright. What.

"Hey, you think I would say no to being friends with someone? I mean, do you even know me at all?" He shoots back, tapping the toe of his vans on the carpet. It was distracting enough so that he didn't really think about how his hands were sweating. "But I promise, alright? If I'm still here, I suppose. I guess I can go through the hassle. Even if you think I'm bat shit, I'd do it."

The added comment kind of makes him feel a little more relieved though, giving the cord his own demonstrative tug and sighs, "Okay good, like. Cause I was just imagining all the beads just falling to the floor and then I'd be pretty fucked. I mean, First thing a girls ever given me, I'd probably just, yanno. Start crying and be useless for weeks." Because admitting that isn't already pathetic enough, Hanna.

A smile slowly spread along his face as he started toward her, happy to see her again. He reached his arms out for her, not caring that she was soaking wet; one of his friends was here, and he was okay with that.

"He's a lawyer! He's been in the papers! Come on, we solved the Steel Samurai case! You'd know it if you lived in my world," she remarks with a huff. "I'm telling you, it's true!"

Lots of different worlds weren't that unbelievable, right?

"What it sounds like is more like you have an interest in being charred by dragon flames on a cold mountaintop," the bat barks, crossing his wing arms as best he could again. "And it doesn't look like I'm really into the whole 'living' thing these days."

...hey, Conrad thought that comment was mildly funny, okay.

Lucky for Hanna, Maya doesn't take that last comment seriously. He has to be joking, after all; she's known way worse dudes with plenty of friends.

"But you still better take care of it," she said, putting that smirk back on. "The handiwork of cute girls is always super valuable. It's got like, collector's value or something."

"And just so you know, I'm totally cool enough to be worth the hassle. I know where all the best places in the city are."

"Collectors value? More like, This thing is priceless and I won't be getting rid of it anytime soon. Scouts honor." He doesn't really remember what scouts are supposed to do when they say that, but saying it's good enough right?

"Naw, I mean. Hassle for you. And then you'd think I'm crazy and we'd get off on the wrong foot and tell everyone I'm a maniac." He sighs, as if it's already happened. "And then I'd have to skip town and learn to live with dragons and unicorns."

A roll of her eyes, and Maya gives Hanna a light punch to the shoulder. "Hassle? You really have a lot to learn. Aaaagain." Seriously. She's just as crazy as he is, if not more. "Besides, there's a unicorn here already anyway."

"And aren't you supposed to salute when you say 'scout's honor'? Like, something like--" she makes some sort of salute, but it certainly isn't correct.

A lawyer. His face slowly contorts into a grimace. "Phoenix Wright. Right. The lawyer from the fuckin' DS game. Yea, ok, right. Ash Ketchum here too? Fuckin' Detective Mackenzie can help me work that shit out," he retorts in a vaguely mocking way, turning to the side to glare at nothing.

But then again, Hanna can do a lot with those runes. D'they toss me here 'cause I stormed out!? This like time out or some shit? They had no god damn right! The hell they think they are, anyway!? Chewing one side of his lower lip pensively, Veser thought about her use of 'world' again.

"So you're telling me I'm in some whackjob world where fictional people totally exist." Once more his arms are crossed, the bite in his voice receding. It's not HER fault, right?
