It's to Hanna's advantage, then, that Maya doesn't really have much a clue of how boys are supposed to talk to women. Being raised in a village where all the men leave will do that to you. Conversationally, everyone's as good as talking to a girl in Maya's eyes.

"Yeah-- I mean, it's like my magatama, but smaller," she tells him. Just as quickly as she says it, she realises she's still got the damn thing on her wrist-- an omamori she made a few months ago. "Ishimaru's is on his scarf, since he likes to go running and stuff."

She hands it to him nonchalantly; for all Maya knows (or cares), they've been friends for ages, and Hanna's just an awkward person around everybody. The charm's charged with as much spiritual energy as the small beads can hold, which isn't nearly as much as her magatama can, but enough that Maya trusted her gifts to keep Ishimaru and Hanna safe in the first place.

Any other time she might think it's strange, but she also knows how much of a giant nerd Hanna is. It's technically a magical artefact. This? This is pure nerd-ass fun right here.
