As the boy leans in uncomfortably close, Hook sort of leans back out to keep at least some distance between. All the while one slender brow is arched at the boy and watching him warily with that entirely too serious expression he has. Luckily for him it was just that the young pirate had thought musicians were a big deal. He found himself laughing once more at the way the other spoke of a pirate's life and what should or should not be.
"Ah, but a true Pirate's crew won't follow the standard to the letter. The only thing constant is the code, even that is fairly flexible." He smiles none-the-less.
"Though I agree, a pirates life should be full of whimsy and great adventure, good food and company as well. Why, the whole point of it is to see the world and all it has to offer while enjoying freedom at it's finest."
It was strange to be called Uncle by the boy, yet somehow fitting, so he continued to let it go. At the question however he paused to mull over his response. It was a heavy question that, how he'd go out, but he thought up his answer.
"Aye, a pirates life is hard and dangerous at times, we have to live like it's our last, but fight like we want to live forever." He nods.
"I have no intention of being caught or dying by anyone's hands. When I go, it'll be after I've lived a full and satisfying life. And people will be singing songs about me perhaps, or at least my name and story will carry on through the ages."
ngl I almost did the "guidelines" line from PotC
