5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

[He'll take the topic change gladly, thankful at least that Bae's still talking to him.]

This is Ruby City. While you can leave the city for wilderness beyond, you can't go very far, before you reach a barrier that prevents anyone from leaving. There are creatures, dangerous ones at that, that live in the park, and beyond the city, out on the plains, in the forest and in the mountains.

I've been here for little over two months now.

[Baby steps. One at a time. Bae made sure he was far enough away to feel comfortable (or as comfortable as he could in the cirumstances) but near enough to hear the words.]

And in that time, have you killed anyone? If you still have magic, why do you look like you don't?

[Two separate questions, both as important as each other. And the answers to each would help Bae decide if this conversation would continue.]

I haven't killed anyone, even back home, I've not killed anyone for many years now. As for your second question, that is rather complicated. I was cursed by someone else, that curse overwrote my own, when the second curse was broken, it left me as you see me now.

A curse stronger than the Dark One?

[He couldn't keep the incredulity out of his voice as he asked that. But nothing was stronger than the Dark One's curse. That why they had to leave with the bean. Or that had been the deal he'd broken.]

Tell me of this second curse.

Yes. The Dark Curse, it ripped everyone not protected from it from the Enchanted Forest and dropped them into the world that you went to with the bean. Everyone, myself included, were frozen in time for twenty-eight years, until it was broken by a savior.

You came to the world without magic using a curse?

[Bae paused, before finally giving something back.]

I was only there for a year. I came here from Neverland.

[magicsprice]

That's correct.

[He blinked at that new information, though it made sense. It would explain why his son had still been alive. Though he had to wonder just how he'd escaped back to the Land without Magic from Neverland.]

How...how did you get there?

[He'd wanted more than just confirmation but he accepted it for now, wondering how to explain about the Darlings without hurting his father's feelings further. Then he wondered why he cared about said feelings. But he knew the answer to the second question already. Love.]

I made a new family. The Darlings. They took me in, gave me a place to sleep, clean clothes and good food. When the shadow came, I didn't want their family torn apart by magic like mine had been. I willingly went with it to save the other boys.

[It hurt that he'd made a new family, but he was also glad he'd found people to take care of him so that he hadn't been alone. He nodded in understanding.]

That was a brave thing for you to do for them.

It was the right thing to do.

[He paused, thinking about what he learnt about his mother from Hook.]

Bae...I couldn't tell you she abandoned you. I'm sorry I lied.

[Not entirely sorry unfortunately that he killed her, but that was a secret he'd keep to his grave, whenever he finally went to it. The issue does bring one other thing to light however.]

You've met Hook, haven't you?

[Bae simply nodded at the question before berating him further.]

Abandoning me was one thing. But did you really have to kill her?

[magicsprice]

Nothing I say on that subject will change what happened. Did I have to kill her? No, I didn't have to, but I did. I was angry at her at that time, for abandoning us, for leaving you to go run away with that pirate. So when she told me that she had never loved me, I lashed out and I killed her.

[He manages to keep his voice level with considerable effort, as well as keeping himself from snarling the words, though the heat of the emotion behind the subject at hand does darken his eyes and make his accent stand out more than usual.]

Nothing you say on any subject will change what happened. And yet you still wish my forgiveness for your own abandonment of me. Should I lash out and kill you?

[Bae's voice was also slightly raised but he didn't want to goad his father into anything. He was done with the conversation. Turning on his heel, he started to walk away without even bothering to wait for an answer. He might be stuck here, but that didn't mean he had to talk to the man any longer than he wanted to.]

[He wanted to tell the boy that their situation was different than the one between him and Milah, but his son was right, nothing he could say would change anything that had happened. He stayed where he stood as his son turned to walk away, speaking up before Bae had gotten too far from him.]
