Time for something fun!
Need a little pick me up? Or just feel like playing something really stupid? It's time for a meme.
The Magical Swap Meme
or the 'oops, you done fucked up' meme
courtesy of Luc*
Directions
- Post your character with the name/canon in the subject meme. In your comment, put your preferences such as, "I don't want to do prompt #1" or "for the gender swap prompt, [character] will look like [this]" or "for the age swap prompt, my character will be 5 years younger".
- Tag each other and have fun.
- Body Swap: Holy shit. You're looking at yourself like you're looking in a mirror. The only problem is, when you're looking down at your own hands... you're in someone else's body.
- Gender Swap: Well, this is new; you're now no longer in the right body, but it's still yours. Were you always a girl? You sure weren't yesterday. Of course, this is probably another one of the city's tricks; no point in getting all up in arms about it, is there?
- Age Swap: Are you starting to see a pattern here? Now you're younger-- or older-- than you were a little while ago. Who're you going to bug about your height now?
- Canon Swap: Your entire history is different now. Suddenly, you're a homestuck. Or maybe you're an elf. Or perhaps you're not even switching canons with the person you're threading with. What's the damage?
- Power Swap:...Like the one above, but with powers instead of canons.
- Moral Alignment Swap: Suddenly, you're evil as hell. Or maybe you're really good now. Or maybe your moral alignment is "eh /non-commital wiggly hand gesture". I don't make the rules here, bucko.
- Luc, you didn't include this swap I wanted to do!: Well look at you, you have a bigger imagination than I do. What are you waiting for? Swap it. Just swap it. Do it, before it's too late.
You now have four minutes to save the world.**
*If it's a bad meme, it wasn't my idea.
**You do not have four minutes to save the world. In fact, there's really no point in worrying about world saving right now.

It's not exactly a pleasant experience to have your physiology rearranged on a molecular level, so it was courteous of the blinking sphere to knock them unconscious first. But when they do come to, there's plenty to be disoriented about even without the lingering nausea from the process.
Aradia groans and props herself up on one elbow, clutching at her chest. Her heartbeat is pounding more STRONGLY than ever before, to the point where she's amazed she can hear anything else. And the rhythm is weird, too, a strange syncopated beat instead of a steady pulse.]
Ugh... what happened? Doctor-?
[But she stops short there, because the guy lying nearby - though his face is still recognizable - looks a lot different from the last time she saw him...]
no subject
The disorientation... not so much, and the first thing he notices is the fact that something is very definitely not right with his heartsbeat. He doesn't feel nearly as out of breath as he should be, were only the one to be working, but it's enough to have him terribly concerned.
From an outside, however, he looks even more unusual even if he hasn't yet caught on to the fact that his skin has changed color yet. And even that is only the tip of the metaphorical iceberg. His hair is still in the same style as it was before, but it's now the same jet black that is customary in trolls. The horns are new as well, and although Aradia hasn't seen his sonic screwdriver, they bear a distinct similarity to a simplified version of the same.
The most interesting fact, however, once he manages to wrench his eyes open (and not without a groan of protest) is the fact that they aren't either the blue that his usually are or the rust that Aradia's might have have come to be. Instead, they're yellow, in a shade that is just a hair off of what of Sollux's would have been.]
Did anyone get the number of the ship that hit us?
no subject
Her hair has stayed black, but her skin is pale pink now, and her eyes a very dark brown. And she's bound to notice soon that her horns and wings are missing, once she's done processing all the other stuff she can't stop noticing.
The situation is begging for a pithy one-liner, but she fails to come up with one.]
Uh. Don't look now, but...
no subject
Thankfully what they'd been poking at just before this particular turn of events offers something like an explanation and saves him from startling too badly, but his eyes do go surprisingly wide at the sight, and he's only just started to realize the extent of what might have been changed.]
Ah... I see. That probably wasn't meant to happen. I think.
no subject
[She sits up, too, turning her hands over a few times to examine them. As a final confirmation, she runs them through her hair, and of course finds no horns there. Noooooooo not the horns... her skull feels naked without them. ;m; She drops her hands into her lap with a disgruntled sigh.]
Well, I guess we know what that thing does now, at least. You're a troll, and I am... really not feeling good.
no subject
I think we both might not be. But if I'm what you were... you should be what I was?

[Still, there's a smile to go with his comment, and if it's one that has far more fangs than he's used to at least he manages well enough. They're moderately impressive fangs as well although nothing that would be enough to impede his speech any.]
But if this body is anything like what trolls are supposed to be like, I suppose the change really would be terribly different.
no subject
[She gestures generally at herself.] What's with your... everything? Am I having a heart attack right now? I don't even know.
no subject
Ah, that. I really should have guessed that might seem a little surprising, but you aren't. It's just that, well, Time Lords have two hearts. So it's bound to feel a little different than just having the one.
no subject
[She squints for a few seconds, listening, and the weird rhythm starts to make sense. Two hearts. Dang.
What else do they have two of? - is definitely not a thought that enters her mind. With that particular worry out of the way, she suddenly remembers an important question she hasn't asked yet.]
What about you? Are you okay?
no subject
Other than that... his senses are a little different than his used to and he's already not sure what to make of having black hair again. But physically... he can at least assume that this is normal for a troll, even if he can't shake the feeling that his heartbeat is entirely too sluggish by half.]
I think so.
[With the physical side of things taken care of he reaches for his usual telepathy... and falls sidewise into something else as he finds himself suddenly hovering in midair as he taps into telekinesis instead.
(Perhaps interestingly is the fact that the tips of his horns seem to be almost glowing as he does so. With a soft blue light that may well be how his psychic abilities mark themselves now.)]
Ah, that's new, though.

As we discussed last night, mwahaha...
[ Charley dashes into the console room, looking just a bit unnerved. Her hands go to her chest and she stops in her tracks, trying to calm down and slow her breathing.
She looks around for the Doctor with a slightly panicked expression. Surely he'd know what the hell is going on, and why her pulse is going twice as fast as it should ever since she woke up. ]
Doctor! Where are you??
/o/
But it's different this time. It's not so much as if it's been burnt out as if it's just... not there, and he's not entirely certain what to make of it. Enough that by the time Charley arrives he's settled in against the central console. If he can't feel her like he usually would then at least he can take some comfort in her physical presence.
The sound of Charley's voice, on the other hand, has him peeking out from behind the console. He's still not entirely certain he likes how this... whatever it is has him feeling, but what he can hear in Charley's voice is more than enough to get him to put aside his own concerns for the moment.]
I'm here.
[Possibly hovering just on the edge of panic, but he's there.]
Is something matter?
no subject
What's happening to me??
[ She goes from clutching her chest to clutching her head, squeezing her eyes shut to try to get some semblance of control. ]
Heart's...racing and, oh God, please calm down you're giving me a headache!
no subject
Something's happening to both of us, I think. But I need you to tell me how it's racing. What does it sound like, to you?
no subject
Like my heart is beating twice as fast! Or...
[ Her eyes go wide and she holds a hand up to one side of her chest, then the other. Then she yelps, and likely unconsciously blasts him with a wave of her own shock. Woops, sorry. She's not used to being telepathic. ]
Doctor, we have a problem here. I'm-- I'm Time Lord. Or, Lady? Oh, this is so bizarre!
no subject
(Has his ability to figure things out been affected by this change, he wonders, before viciously smothering the thought. He doesn't even really want to acknowledge the thought, as if acknowledging it will make it real.)]
Ah... I really should have guessed that might have been the case.
[The sudden spike of shock only serves to emphasize the point, even if it doesn't really help his concern any in the long run.]
Whichever one you prefer, I think. There's never really been any real decision on the point, last I can remember anyway.
[There's a slight pause there and then he continues on.]
Although I should probably mention that I'm rather human just at the moment. I won't be able to quite manage everything I might normally have been able to.
no subject
How do you manage to think with everyone's thoughts intruding?
[ She closes her eyes and rubs at her temples, trying to slow her breathing while she works away the growing headache. ]
Human. Lovely. So we're both stuck in bodies we're not used to.
no subject
(Or mostly private, anyway.)
Still, he doesn't answer right away. Instead, he takes a moment to at least get himself to something closer to calm. He's still worried, yes, but the less he can manage to broadcast the fact the easier it'll be.]
Unfortunately, yes.
[So far he's managed well enough with being human, but there are things he hasn't yet seen, even if he doesn't really know it.]
As for thinking, we aren't usually in mental contact with anyone else. So it shouldn't be hard at all to get you to be at least more alone with your thought. Here, I should be able to-- [It's at that point that his mind catches up with his mouth, and he remembers that being human means that he isn't actually as telepathic as he usually is.]
Ah, no. That isn't going to work right now, isn't it? I certainly don't think I could manage to accept any sort of contact like this anyway. Um... it's like walls, a little. Or shields. Something to keep people out if you don't want them in, or want to simply have your head to yourself.
no subject
Walls...wall, alright...
[Her eyes go closed for a moment as she imagines some nice, big, strong walls. With barbed wire and guard dogs, and-- Okay, she really wants to block everyone's thoughts out, okay? It's hard enough dealing with her own thoughts at times.
But once she's finally alone in her head again, Charley opens her eyes and gives the Doctor a concerned look.]
Alright...I think that's me sorted for now, but...how are you? Are you alright?
no subject
Physically, I think so. For, well, for a human, at least. Other than that... I'm not so certain. It's like everything is... less, somehow, if that makes any sort of sense. Although I suppose some of it is... partially familiar, as well.
[He's been without his time senses before, and this time he's not in a body that misses them and finds the loss to be an ache. The rest, he'll have to figure out how to deal with he supposes and he desperately wishes he could tune out the parts of his mind that are all sorts of up in arms about not being him, or not so much him anyway.]
