[So it's kind of unclear where these two got ahold of a portable DNA recombination device. Maybe it was hiding in a TARDIS storeroom or something. It's also a little unclear how they managed to activate it on accident, especially without melting them both. But they did, somehow, and here we are.

It's not exactly a pleasant experience to have your physiology rearranged on a molecular level, so it was courteous of the blinking sphere to knock them unconscious first. But when they do come to, there's plenty to be disoriented about even without the lingering nausea from the process.

Aradia groans and props herself up on one elbow, clutching at her chest. Her heartbeat is pounding more STRONGLY than ever before, to the point where she's amazed she can hear anything else. And the rhythm is weird, too, a strange syncopated beat instead of a steady pulse.]

Ugh... what happened? Doctor-?

[But she stops short there, because the guy lying nearby - though his face is still recognizable - looks a lot different from the last time she saw him...]

[It's really not comfortable, no. Admittedly, regeneration is possibly only sort of similar to the effects of this particular device (which he's almost certainly hadn't been his) but having been knocked out first is very definitely a blessing.

The disorientation... not so much, and the first thing he notices is the fact that something is very definitely not right with his heartsbeat. He doesn't feel nearly as out of breath as he should be, were only the one to be working, but it's enough to have him terribly concerned.

From an outside, however, he looks even more unusual even if he hasn't yet caught on to the fact that his skin has changed color yet. And even that is only the tip of the metaphorical iceberg. His hair is still in the same style as it was before, but it's now the same jet black that is customary in trolls. The horns are new as well, and although Aradia hasn't seen his sonic screwdriver, they bear a distinct similarity to a simplified version of the same.

The most interesting fact, however, once he manages to wrench his eyes open (and not without a groan of protest) is the fact that they aren't either the blue that his usually are or the rust that Aradia's might have have come to be. Instead, they're yellow, in a shade that is just a hair off of what of Sollux's would have been.]

Did anyone get the number of the ship that hit us?

[He's a troll. The Doctor has somehow been turned into a troll. The striking yellow-on-yellow of his eyes is something she's never seen before, and particularly handsome. Err, wait, I mean... unusual. Unusual is the word I meant to use there. He even smells different, which is saying something when she's never even noticed him having a smell before. It's like all the little details of existence have been turned up to 11 - everything's so distinct, in ways she doesn't even have names for.

Her hair has stayed black, but her skin is pale pink now, and her eyes a very dark brown. And she's bound to notice soon that her horns and wings are missing, once she's done processing all the other stuff she can't stop noticing.

The situation is begging for a pithy one-liner, but she fails to come up with one.]

Uh. Don't look now, but...

[Her warning comes entirely too late. He's already sitting up, albeit rather carefully, and in the process he manages to get a pretty good look at his hand - and by extension the fact that his skin is a color it's never really been before.

Thankfully what they'd been poking at just before this particular turn of events offers something like an explanation and saves him from startling too badly, but his eyes do go surprisingly wide at the sight, and he's only just started to realize the extent of what might have been changed.]

Ah... I see. That probably wasn't meant to happen. I think.

No, really?

[She sits up, too, turning her hands over a few times to examine them. As a final confirmation, she runs them through her hair, and of course finds no horns there. Noooooooo not the horns... her skull feels naked without them. ;m; She drops her hands into her lap with a disgruntled sigh.]

Well, I guess we know what that thing does now, at least. You're a troll, and I am... really not feeling good.

[Unfortunately, that's the problem of not being what you just were a moment before. Sometimes you've acquired new things, and... sometimes you lose things that you'd have had before. But not feeling good is very nearly an understatement, he suspects. Sure, they're both conscious now, but that doesn't exactly mean that it's any more comfortable.]

I think we both might not be. But if I'm what you were... you should be what I was?

A time lord? [She burps suddenly and thumps her chest.] 'Scuse me.

I think Time Lady might be a little more appropriate in this case, but yes.

[Still, there's a smile to go with his comment, and if it's one that has far more fangs than he's used to at least he manages well enough. They're moderately impressive fangs as well although nothing that would be enough to impede his speech any.]

But if this body is anything like what trolls are supposed to be like, I suppose the change really would be terribly different.

[Pfft, Aradia is not sure if she counts as a "lady" tbh. But the semantics are the least of her worries. At least the Doctor seems to be handling it better than her...]

[She gestures generally at herself.] What's with your... everything? Am I having a heart attack right now? I don't even know.

[She's more of lady than he would be, at least, for all that isn't saying very much.]

Ah, that. I really should have guessed that might seem a little surprising, but you aren't. It's just that, well, Time Lords have two hearts. So it's bound to feel a little different than just having the one.

Two?

[She squints for a few seconds, listening, and the weird rhythm starts to make sense. Two hearts. Dang. What else do they have two of? - is definitely not a thought that enters her mind.

With that particular worry out of the way, she suddenly remembers an important question she hasn't asked yet.]

What about you? Are you okay?

[There's a moment of silence then, as he considers the oddities of his new form. The single heartbeat is very definitely not as he'd expected, and he's not certain what to make of the horns, even if he has yet to see the shape of them. The skin tone is something that would honestly be distressing if he hadn't seen it on Aradia before.

Other than that... his senses are a little different than his used to and he's already not sure what to make of having black hair again. But physically... he can at least assume that this is normal for a troll, even if he can't shake the feeling that his heartbeat is entirely too sluggish by half.]

I think so.

[With the physical side of things taken care of he reaches for his usual telepathy... and falls sidewise into something else as he finds himself suddenly hovering in midair as he taps into telekinesis instead.

(Perhaps interestingly is the fact that the tips of his horns seem to be almost glowing as he does so. With a soft blue light that may well be how his psychic abilities mark themselves now.)]

Ah, that's new, though.

[This rather surprises the Aradia. Whoops you are flying all of a sudden.]

Oh! I didn't know you were a psionic.

... Although I guess you wouldn't have been until just now.

Not telekinetic, no. But Time Lords are... telepathic, a little. Not as much as some species might be, but enough.

[Enough that the being able to pick up on other members of ones own species by how they feel, mentally speaking, isn't out of the ordinary and enough to enable a sort of telepathic conferencing, when absolutely necessary.]
