Will appreciates Edward as someone in the city who seems to have some idea of what he's doing. Too many people are weird superpowered teenagers or otherwise just content to stay here, so while he has a feeling he couldn't call Edward normal, at least he's smart, organised, and he wants out. On the other hand, he feels kind of uncomfortable around him, because he gets the sense that he's being observed and analysed by the guy, which... is kind of hypocritical since it's what Will does to other people, but it gets him really anxious anyway. Edward isn't that difficult to talk to in person - better than a lot of others - but Will would definitely like to not be psychoanalysed by anyone whose name is not Hannibal Lecter, okay.

Shijima likes him! Or maybe more accurately, she finds him acceptable, because "like" is a weird thing when it comes to Shijima. He's sensible and intelligent, and in the absence of seeing something really interesting in a person, she'll take smarts. He seems fairly strong-willed too, and despite the way she talks about it sometimes, she does admire optimism and determination in people. It's a human trait that she's fond of, when it isn't creating obstacles for her. He also gets bonus points for being a likeable adult, because in her experience, a lot of adults are idiots or condescending or so cynical that she just finds them boring. He's a decent guy! She thinks she might like to keep an eye on him to learn more about him.
