Being able to have her as an apprentice is her attempt to foster that curiosity Alice is most known for and allow her to make things with her own hands. Rosalind was never one to think it proper for a girl to not have some means of learning to use her hands to create things, be it artwork, clothing, or weapons. A girl like Alice could end up becoming the greatest philosopher in the world if she was given the chance to prove that she had the aptitude.
She loves Alice. Really, truly does. She brings out that big sister protective instinct that makes Rosalind jump at the call should she ever get hurt or find herself in some kind of danger. What Ros really wants most right now is for Alice to be able to keep cultivating her intelligence and physical strength while also being able to just enjoy being a child.

Oh man what if she found a book on alchemy? (Not that she knows magic but it'd be another chance for her to learn about something new).
On Alice
Meeting Alice was one of his big shocks during that first year living in the city. He was still reeling from the fact that he was kidnapped and suddenly, a fictional character shows up from a novel he read while learning English? He thought it best not to mention that he knew her as a character and Alice being there as a flesh and blood girl made it all the easier for him to get that thought out of his mind. He sees Alice for the child she is, and quite the intelligent one at that! She has a refreshing innocence about her that reminds him that there are things worth protecting. When Alice was in the vaguest kind of danger, he jumped right into finding her with the intention to keep her away from that which would harm a child.
He wishes he could get along with children better and do more than have what he considers to be polite conversations and interactions with Alice. She's far too nice of a child to treat so stiffly. All the same, he does think that it's better to maintain that kind of politeness with her. Children should be treated with the same respect that one would show an adult, but there's also a certain standard that ought to be upheld.
In all, he's quite fond of Alice, which is why she is "little miss" to him.

On Morrigan
Meeting Morrigan reminded him that there are not only people of magic in the city, but extremely powerful women of magic who may just rule a whole nation. He's not used to seeing many women who can command the kind of beauty, strength and intelligence that Morrigan manages to have wrapped up in herself. And he does acknowledge that she is beautiful, even though not aloud. Fear and lack of interest does not stop him from noticing the aesthetics of physical form.
The best thing is that she doesn't think of him in terms of the mask or what little he has told her of his past. She doesn't pry, doesn't assume, doesn't change her opinion of him because he has psychic powers or a thing about not letting people see his face. It's a kind of respect he usually has to fight to earn, and he likes that immensely about her. Morrigan is one of the people he considers an honest friend in the city.

He'd like to get to know Edward better. Enough so that they could meet in person and he'd get a chance to see into his thoughts, even just a little. Someone like him is worth getting to know, even if they end up more allies than friends.

Perhaps a bit dim in terms of culture and general knowledge, but ultimately a nice person. Hardly a bad thing to be.
