Maurice on Death~

I LOVE MAURICE AND DEATH'S CR. It is the cutest thing. Maurice was so scared of him at first but now he's weirdly endeared toward Death. He feels like he's made a friend with the COOL KIDS but he also really wants to help him since Death seems so sad and bummed that he can't do his job.

He's mentioned him a few times to friends and referred to Death as "A pretty cool guy." and he's serious about helping him figure out a way to make music. It breaks his heart to know that somebodY WANTS to make music but due to weird magic stuff they somehow can't.

Death really wants to be able to create like people do, but even his failed attempts at copying are still pretty clever. Music happens to be the most difficult because it's a very pure form of creation, and not merely a kind of copying. Each note is a unique life that lasts for a very tiny instant and Death is not supposed to make life like that. Hence, he'll try and play the violin, only for the strings to break on him. Or the piano to suddenly go out of tune. It's nice, though, to have someone try and show him how to make music like that.

It's actually very sweet of Maurice to go about doing that. One of Death's problems with the nature of his existence is that it makes it very hard to make friends that stick around. Having so many people who can see him and the freedom to not do his job quite the way he's supposed to is a very important thing for Death. He can try socializing and actually keeping friends who will stay alive.
