LET LILY TELL YOU ABOUT THIS DOUCHEBAG.

Okay, so he's not actually a douche, but he makes Lily want to pull her hair out in frustration a majority of the time. She can tell he's a smart, very capable guy, so that's probably what annoys her even more; that he clearly could do something about his situation and maybe even the situation of others, and he just kind of...doesn't. She's never been the type to take something sitting down, since she is a Gryffindor, so that kind of apathy drives her bonkers. He probably also reminds her of a certain group of guys that take laissez faire attitude to the next level, so there's that too.

Half of Lily's conversations with him are basically her trying to be polite while also trying to avoid throttling him.

Hahahahaha you know he probably could do something but...

He kind of doesn't want to. Because while being in a cage is pretty shitty, this alternative is a little better than some of the others that everyone has to go back to. like his horribly dead and in broken sad fragments brother for example. So yes he is indeed a lazy pain in the ass sorry Lily.
