February Test Drive!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our <href="http://rubycity-ooc.dreamwidth.org/tag/event">event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

The admiral may or may not have noticed the amount of birds that twirled around his head and then flapped away, tweeting and whistling as they went while his search from the beach led him into the woods. Of course, the birds were keeping a close eye on anyone who happened nearby the princess.

Aurora looked up from the bushes of berries when they returned.

"Someone is injured?" she asked as they kept twittering. She quickly headed in the direction they told her and her eyes widened at the gentleman.

"Oh my goodness! Are you alright?" she asked as she hurried over to him.

.....Norrington eyed the birds warily. If he didn't know any better he would think they were following him. That was a ridiculous thought to have and one he couldn't have had back at home...but after what he's witnessed of late he wouldn't just shrug it off. He followed them as they led to a young woman that seemed to be gathering berries. They seemed to be talking to her as well. He must have hit his head pretty hard to be imagining this. This was like some sort of fairy tale.

The admiral shook his head and decided to at least approach the woman as she just turned to notice him. He frowned a bit as he studied the birds and then glanced at her.

"Pardon me...I apologize for disturbing you..." Norrington replied as he gave a brief bow to her. He winced a bit, realizing it was a little too late that he shouldn't have tried to bow. "Perhaps you could point me to the nearest clinic?"

She did ask if he was alright...this conversation was just going smoothly. He always had an awkward time talking with women.

He was asking for help, she hurried over to him and gazed up at the admiral, her brow knitted in concern.

"You are injured..." it wasn't a question. "It's alright, you weren't disturbing me. Yes, please, come this way, I can take you there right away." It would still take some time to get there, however.

"But... just a moment, have a seat please," she offered as she went to go get some leaves and herbs to help with the pain. "I'm afraid we're still a ways from the city. We'll have to tend to your wound with what we can."

"Thank you, ma'am. I appreciate your help and hopefully I can return the favor. "Norrington responded.

Obediently he did was told. It surprised him to learn that he was pretty far from the actual city. It made him grateful that he did find the young woman along the way. Blushing slightly, he shrugged off his jacket and various layers of clothing underneath it. He didn't dare look to see how big of a wound the sword had left.

"There is no need to return any favor, you are injured, it's the very least I could do." She turned to some of her animal friends and asked them to bring her back some honey while she made sure to grab some large leaves. Squirrels, rabbits, and birds were off as quick as could be to fulfill Aurora's request. She blushed when she turned back around to see James in a state of undress.

Well, she supposed she shouldn't be too surprised, how else was she going to tend to the wounds? She cleared her throat, her cheeks a deep red but she set to the task of using the black shawl to start cleaning the wound as best she could. She pressed her lips together.

"Please let me know if this hurts..." she offered softly as she dabbed at the wound until the honey and leaves could be brought.

This was certainly an odd way of healing a wound, but it was probably better then what he would have done which was clean the wound with what ever alcohol he could find and then wrap it up with the remnants of his shirt. The honey seemed to sting just as badly as the alcohol would have. He let out a soft hiss, but didn't stop her.

"You could use my shirt to wrap the wound. It may be a little more efficient." Norrington suggested. He still found it rather odd to see how well those animals reacted to her commands and were quite eager to help out.

The honey was more readily available than alcohol and just as potent for its properties. She tended to the wound with what she had available, remembering all that her aunts taught her. She had no water available and so no way to really clean the wound. However, she did manage to get the honey and leaves to cover the wound before wrapping all that up in the admiral's shirt and her shawl, covered in blood as it was.

She stood up.

"Do you think you'll be able to walk?"

Norrington gave a nod. Once the wound had been securely bound, he then took the time to place the rest of the clothing back on and knew that he wasn't going to be able to salvage much of his uniform later. He was going to miss it.

"I should be able to walk as long as we take it easy. I really appreciate your help, ma'am. I was lucky to have found you. Please, forgive my rudeness as well. My name is Admiral James Norrington."

She helped him stand, keeping him steady. She gave a soft "hum" when he was finally on his feet, not letting go until she was sure that he was steady. Carefully and slowly she pulled her hands away, offering a smile.

"Completely forgiven, under the circumstance you are quite composed, and I am Princess Aurora."
