February Test Drive!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our <href="http://rubycity-ooc.dreamwidth.org/tag/event">event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

[If there was one thing being in the military for over a decade - outside of plain old surviving - it was how to spot a politician a mile away.

And that woman with the strange hairdo was most likely a politician of some sort. There's a brief moment he hopes that she might be a politician from this city, someone he could talk to about getting back to the Radiance. That hope is dashed when he realizes that her expression is a familiar one. He's been wearing the same one since getting of the train.

With a small sigh he slips his hands into his white uniform pants heading over to her. There's a nagging voice that says he should do up his jacket, to stand in proper uniform but... Well she was no politician of his.]

Ma'am? You lost too?

[She hears a voice behind her, turning around. There's a man in a uniform - though from the looks of his outfit he's not an officer of the Republic. He could be working with the Separatists, but that's yet to be found out. For all she knows, this could be her captor - though captors don't usually act so casual, especially not ones who know the status of their captive. Plus, he referred to her as 'ma'am'...it's not something she's used to being called. Perhaps she might be safe after all. She decides to main calm, speaking with decorum.]

I am, actually. I'm looking for some information on this city - do you know what sector we're in?

[His lips quirk upwards.]

No clue, where I'm from we don't have sectors.

[He takes his hand out of his pocket, offering it to her.]

I'm Lieutenant Remington Bates, second-in-command of the Radiance airship.

[Even as he speaks he watches her, watches for any sign of recognition. She should recognize the name, right? The Radiance was one of the most notable ships in the Sky Military.

But then there was that sectors business...]

[personal profile] thunderousapplause 2015-02-25 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Hm...that makes this complicated. Where are you from, Lieutenant Bates?

[He doesn't seem to pose any danger to her - in fact, he works on a ship. Perhaps she could find some transport on his ship back to Coruscant - that would be a miracle. She takes his hand in hers - her skin is quite soft - and shakes it firmly.

She's still got her guard up a bit, though - they're both in an unfamiliar place, so it's best to remain calm and cautious. And since they're in the business of titles here...]

I am Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo. It's nice to find someone friendly out here.

Millean Republic, currently stationed with the Sky Military so where we go tends to vary. We're patrolling the borders between the Republic and some countries right now.

[The firm handshake reminds him of Isabella. He grins, letting go of her hand and slipping it back into his pocket completely relaxed.]

Can't say I've ever heard of a Senator by your name, let alone Naboo.

[Oh this doesn't bode well.]

[Her heart leaps for a moment when he mentions the Republic, but she can't remember ever hearing anything about the planet Milea - maybe it was somewhere in the Outer Rim she'd never heard of. But she'd been to all the senate meetings, barring the few times when she was quite sick. It couldn't possibly...perhaps this was a republic she was not aware of, considering he says he's never heard of Naboo. Hopefully not one threatening the Galactic Republic - one knows they have enough on their minds with the Separatists.

No. She relaxes a bit as he does, still poised but a bit more of the diplomatic mask comes down. She really needs to get down to business at this point if she's ever going to make it back home, to her apartment on Coruscant, to the castle on Naboo, to Anakin, where her heart felt at home.]

Lieutenant, do you know what this planet is called?
cheshire_smile: (Let me explain this)

[personal profile] cheshire_smile 2015-02-25 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I would assume Earth, it's the only planet I know that people live on.

[Sure there were the other planets - Venus, Mars, ect. - but they were just pretty stars in the night sky to him. They were unreachable, at least for for a few more lifetimes.

He looks at her, eyes still very alert despite his relaxed posture. This isn't adding up and Remmy does not like that.]
thunderousapplause: (she'll know im safe with you)

[personal profile] thunderousapplause 2015-02-26 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
You're...I've never heard of Earth before.

[And the other shoe drops. Padme puts two and two together - whatever must have happened to her to have to get on the holotrain here must be unexplainable, something not even the wiser Senators or even Master Yoda could explain. It's a bit of a world-shaking revelation, to be kidnapped by unknown forces and dropped in a strange city.]

Lots of planets are inhabited. My home is called Naboo, for example. But I mostly live on Coruscant, now. That's where the Galactic Senate is.

[It's becoming increasingly apparent that she won't be getting transport back to Coruscant from the Lieutenant anytime soon.]
cheshire_smile: (Not alright)

[personal profile] cheshire_smile 2015-02-27 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
So... Either one of us hit our heads real hard or something very strange is going on here. There is no Galactic anything where I'm from. Sky Military? Yeah. U.N? Sure. Galactic Senate? Nu-uh.

[The calm facade cracks, just a little.

Remmy refuses to accept he might have been kidnapped someplace and trapped in an unknown city with no way out. Absolutely refuses to accept it.

There are people relying on him on the ship.]
thunderousapplause: (he says he'll love me forever)

[personal profile] thunderousapplause 2015-02-28 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
I've never heard of either of those organizations.

[She stops for a moment, thinking of other groups - some good, some not so good. Padme has a very bad feeling about this.]

The Jedi Order, the Banking Clan...is any of this sounding familiar?

[This is bad. This is very bad. She's needed on Coruscant, the Senate needs her, Naboo, her people need her. Anakin needs her.]
cheshire_smile: (Y'all are being dumb)

[personal profile] cheshire_smile 2015-03-02 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
They sound like something out of a science fiction novel. [He pauses briefly, then rolls his eyes.] Well, the first one. The second sounds like it should be a for accounting.

[Taking a deep breath he forces himself to calm down. Freaking out won't do either of them any good.]

Right. This seems a little more elaborate then the usual abduction plot.
thunderousapplause: (put on your best boys and i'll wear my p)

[personal profile] thunderousapplause 2015-03-02 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[She laughs a little - he seems to be trying to lighten the gravity of the situation with humor. Not usually her first choice, but it's helping as Padme cracks a genuine smile.]

I agree...something else is at stake here. I can't help wondering who's behind it...
cheshire_smile: (Conversational)

[personal profile] cheshire_smile 2015-03-04 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Humor tends to be his go-to whenever he needs to remain calm. He mastered it during the Air War.]

Well, Senator, I've always found asking around being the best way to figure out what's going on.
