Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.


Scenarios


1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

[ She's only been here a solid ten minutes but may as well find something to do. Like wander into some western bar. If no one is waitering this place, Roxy just figures she'll get it herself, why not. She just... heads right back and starts fixing herself some kind of monstrosity hamburger. When someone walks into the back, she'll just smile. ]

Hey, want one of these? I call it the Ro-Lal Special.

[ It has two hamburger patties poorly cooked, onions, pumpkin spice, french fries, and what may or may not be marshmallow cream between two lovely buns. It comes with a wine glass of grape juice. Can you pass up such an offer? ]

[ Who ordered a side of hail with their snow. Roxy doesn't know, but she sure did just get pelted with a chunk of ice the size of a golfball. ]

Ow! What the-- [ Pardon her as she runs by trying to escape the sudden torrent of hail currently raining down upon the city. She may possibly try to use you as a human shield if you're bigger than her 5'5 teen girl self. ] Sup.

[ You're just getting a cup of coffee when a girl slides into the seat next to you and starts to casually make conversation. ]

So, come here often?

[ If you're a handsome teen (or older) male there may be a flirtatious lilt to her words, but otherwise she just seems like she wants to chat. > Chat with teen girl? ]

[The hail is unexpected, but so is the person suddenly trying to use him to shield herself from it.

He's struggling to pull his hood up over his head with no small amount of a very unStriderly lack of grace while also holding one arm over her head to save her from possible concussion.]

Don't stop moving now.

[ No, seriously, where are they supposed to hide from this stuff. ]

[He doesn't waste any time in guiding her to the nearest doorway. It works as a rudimentary shelter while they think of a better plan.]

The lack of professional meteorology and weather forecasting makes preparing for these situations difficult, I know.

[Davesprite's staring out the window as he sips his coffee, lost in either his own head or some seriously illin' verse, when the infringement of his personal space (normally warded off well enough by the wings and the general orangeness) snaps him out of it. He glances at her out of the corner of his eye, surprised, then nearly chokes as his coffee goes down the wrong tube.

COUGH HACK COUGH COUGH SPLUTTER.

Cue the double-take.]

Mom?

[ Roxy actually takes a glance around trying to find orange winged guy's mom, before realizing he was talking to her. ]

Uh, what?

[ Boy pls does she look old enough to be yo momma (probably). ]

[crowsicle]

Oh. I. Uh.

[He clears his throat in between coughs and tries to recover his poise. She doesn't recognize him. Maybe she's a little earlier in the timeline this time around. He thumps his own chest and then waves his hand to try to signal 'no problem.']

My bad. Just--from the side, you know, uh. The "all hot people look alike" clause.

[No wait shit.]

Not that I think my mom is hot! It was a, I was talking about my own genetic...goddamn it.

[He puts his face in his hand, then slowly slumps forward onto the table.]

[Your human shield is a hulking green dude who seems irritated by the snow but is mostly just dealing with it. And he looks a bit more irritated at whoever's hiding behind you.]

[ Why is this guy green, should she be concerned? Nah. She doesn't seem put off by his not-niceness at all. ]

[Okay, he's not enough of a jerk that he'll try to move, but he is enough that he'll sigh and grumble about his new job.]

Last I checked, my format wasn't 'umbrella'. What's the big deal, anyway? Just a little rain. [He vaguely waves a hand at it.]

A little "rain" my ass, it's frickin' hailing the size of baseballs!

[He might have been knocked out by a golf ball once but he's doing okay enough right now. Something about this storm is odd, though- even beyond being hail, the rain feels different from the rain storms he's experienced back home. It must be something about this system.]
