Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.


Scenarios


1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!

[ This is...what is this? Where is she?

Just a few minutes ago, she was following Undyne, greeting the surface world, and all the monsters had gone free. Then, she just...woke up? In a train? And now she's...here.
Wherever "here" is. ]

I-i-is anyone there?...

[ She fidgets her claws, cautiously stepping around in the platform. The train is suddenly gone, and there is no way something that big just disappeared without making any noise.

Looking up, she spots one of the posters- it doesn't make her any less confused, but it's...something?]

..."Ruby City"?

[tonic]

[ That's a ...

Dinosaur.

That's a dinosaur and it's talking it's a dinosaur it's a real dinosaur and it's wearing a lab coat is this okay like theoretically if there are helpful muscle ghosts here then she should be fine with all of this by now, right? Nonetheless, Tonika only pokes her head from around the corner, somewhat worried and stuttering her own words. ]

I'm-- I-I-I'm here. I'm here. I'm so sorry you are, though.

[ BE LESS VAGUELY THREATENING? ]

[ Alphys is startled the moment she hears another voice, gasping and jumping slightly, and when she actually sees Tonika, she takes a step back.

Another human! Wait, but--yeah, okay, it's okay, it'll be okay. Right? They were going to bump into another one eventually.
She tries to regain her composure, though she kind of struggles with it. ]

H-h-hi. A-are you, hum, are you from around here?

[ Stupid question. That is a stupid question. Oh, Alphys. ]

H- Hahaha! No, I'm not...! S- sorry! I, um, I'm in the ... exact same situation you are! I think! One day, minding my own business and the next, uh, here. Right here. Unintentionally. Unwantingly.

[ Wow, Tonika, you are making quite the GOOD IMPRESSION right now. Dial it down, close your eye if you have to focus on the not... Dinosaur-ness of it. Just talk to someone like you're talking to another human, and not like every new reminder that the human world is a lie shakes you to your core. ]

... but it's not bad! As in, it's not dangerous and no one you'll meet here intends to harm you... any more than some random person can be a total jerk? As in, there's no dark and gloomy overlord here masterminding your kidnapping. I guess? That's w- what was told to me, um, apparently it's all very...

[ Hand gestures. ] Vague.

[ Oh gosh. Oh dear. Okay, this human doesn't really seem...dangerous? In back, they sound like they're trying to help. They also also seem to be stuttering just as badly as Alphys does...

--Wait. "Unintentionally"? "Unwantingly?" Just showing up here? I mean, she did just suddenly wake up in a train, alone, no sight of the others, but...]

It's the Ruby City. Or just 'Ruby City'. I, um-- hmmm...

So you probably don't remember where you just were right now, right? That's how it happens. You lose time and you get off a train, and you're here. It's like...

[ Her mind tosses things around, looking for a helpful descriptor. ]

... being spirited away. It's not the afterlife, or anything--!! It's just. Magic, I guess?

[ This is weird. This is very weird. She knows magic, but she's never seen anything like this. ]

T-that's...[ Stay calm, Alphys. Stay calm. It'll be okay. ]

How is that possible?

[Naomi was skipping by the train station when she saw something yellow walking around. At first she'd thought it was someone in a yellow raincoat, a little giggle escaping her as she changed directions. It was probably someone new, right? She may have only been here a short while but she could at least help give them the basics!

So with a smile she walked onto the platform, call out.]

Hey are you- [Of course she stops abruptly when she actually gets a good look at Alphys.

More importantly she stops the moment she realizes that it was not someone in a rain coat. It was a yellow dinosaur.

Naomi screamed.]

[ Oh lord.

Alphys, already startled by hearing someone's voice, doubled down by the fact that it was a human, just ends up screaming too.

So that's what they're doing. Now there's two screaming people in the train station.
And Alphys is terrified. ]

[So much screaming.

Naomi shouldn't be screaming, she's seen a lot of things over the last few years. Yet here she was, screaming at the top of her lungs.

She even takes a few rather flailing steps away when Alphys starts scream.

The only reason Naomi stops screaming is because she runs out of breath, but even then she might start screaming again once she catches her breath.]

[ She doesn't even know how she got here! She doesn't even know why she suddenly woke up on a train that is not even there anymore what the heck, and she doesn't know where her friends are and everything is super confusing and now there's a human screaming!!! ]

[The yellow dinosaur begins speaking and Naomi just starts screaming again, taking a few frantic steps back. It was talking! It could talk! Dinosaurs weren't supposed to-

She stops screaming, blinking suddenly as she registers that they were apologizing. Monsters didn't generally stutter or apologize. A tiny little frown pulls at her expression, head cocking to one side. She's seen a yellow dinosaur before, hasn't she?]

... Are you friends with Barney?

[Because clearly Barney the Dinosaur was real and not a TV show.]

[ When Naomi screams again, Alphys is tempted to turn and run, but she's stuck in place.
At least the confusing question distracts her for a moment, and stops the human from screaming.

B-B-Barney? I-I don't know anyone named B-Barney...

[ She's more of an anime kind of gal. ]

[Frisk came by the train station every week, hoping for Sans to come back, or his mom. Or anyone from home really. Mettaton being there was great, he'd always been fun. Except when he was tying to kill him.That had kind of sucked actually.

The child, once Alphys is spotted, scrambles towards her and is immediately embracing her with a grin. ]

[ At first, she's startled, hearing the sound of quick footsteps and turning around just in time to spot Frisk running towards her.

Finally, someone showed up! Maybe he knows what's going on. ]

Frisk! There you are!
What is this place? Where are the others?

[For a moment, he just continues to hug her. He's so happy to have another familiar face. And, let's be honest, Mettaton isn't even close to qualified for caring for an eight year old.

Once he lets go though, he looks up with a smile and starts signing. At first very quickly, excitedly, before he consciously slows down.]

"We're in Ruby City now, it's a whole other world! And there are lots of nice people, like elves! I though they were just make believe. And Mettaton is here too. Sans used to be here but he disappeared one day, everyone says he got sent home."

[ "Ruby City", like the posters. "Other World"? "Elves"? ]

W-wait, what? What do you mean "a whole other world"? How did we get here? Where's everyone else?

"I dunno, they use magic or something to bring us here but everything here is weird. Like super old and stuff, there's not even electric and everyone says it's another world. Everyone back home is safe though, they're still at home. Everyone says time stands still without us."

[With how many time the kid had died Underground, SAVED, LOADED, had his SOUL just generally kicked around, it was easy to believe all that.]

Isn't it just Alphys' lucky day that Mettaton's out for a walk? It could be perceived as his lucky day, but let's be real. He's a gift to humanity and monsterkind on any given day. It'll always be someone else's pleasure to be graced by his fabulous presence.

Having said that, he definitely lets out an audible gasp and throws a pose in for dramatic flair.]

Goodness, dost mine eye deceive me?! Alphys, darling!!! When did you arrive?!

[ Poor Alphys just jumps and gasps at the sound of Mettaton's, well, gasp. It's very hard to be relaxed when you're somewhere you've never been and you have no idea how you got there or where your friends are!

But once she realizes it's him, she's more confused than scared. Or, even more confused, rather. ]

Agatha had been trying to figure that out as well. She Had stepped off a train that oddly wad not trying to eat anyone, and then she was here. Wherever here was.

But seeing the small being - clearly a construct of some sort - she felt compelled to offer assistance.

"Hello," Agatha said. Since she, like nearly everyone in her world, was on the taller side, she crouched to be closer to eye level with the construct. "I'm not sure yet either, but I'm hoping to find out. Want to stick together for now?"

Alphys gasps when she hears an unfamiliar voice behind her, turning right around - not entirely comforted by the sight of what looks like another human!

She knows they'd seem them soon enough. That was part of being on the surface, right? And it'd probably be fine, as long as they had Frisk with them to mediate things. But something weird happened, and now she's alone somewhere she doesn't remember coming to. It doesn't make for a very relaxing situation.

"H-huh, hum. H-hi!"

It takes her a moment to actually process what the person said.

"W-wait. You're lost t-too?"

She nodded at her. "Yeah. I was in Paris a few minutes ago, so I am guessing this is one of the traps from the Stormking. Or perhaps the Muse of Time. Either way, I am something less than amused. Impressed, yes, amused, no. But while I'm here, I might as well see what can be learned, right? Then I can build whatever needs building to get us both back where we belong."

This human might as well be talking in code, because Alphys sure doesn't know what she's on about.

"I-I don't...This isn't...I don't understand." Is this a dream? Did she fall asleep? Did she pass out? She keeps going through the moments that happened just before she found herself on the train. She was with her friends, the barrier was broken, they had all just stepped out, Papyrus ran ahead, Undyne went after him and Alphys followed her...

..and then she woke up on the train.

No, nope. That doesn't make sense. None of this makes sense. Did she actually black out twice in so little time?

"I-i-it doesn't make sense. I...I need to find my friends."

[agathaheterodyne]

She nodded. "If they're here, I'll help, if not, just getting us home should do it, right?" she asked, cheerfully. She stood and realized that with the heights... it wouldn't be too unlike walking with Krosp. Hopefully without the disdain... but then, Krosp was a cat.

"Don't worry," she added cheerfully, "I'm a Spark, so whatever science it takes to get us home, I'm sure I'll figure it out."
