Power Swap Event Plotting

Earlier this week, we announced a two-week power/abilities swap event that will last for two weeks, starting on 15 May, and lasting through 30 May. In the tl;dr to follow, the switches will be announced, including information on the powers and limitations of each. Use this post to plot with fellow players, ask questions, and so on.

Please keep in mind that game rules are still in effect. There will be no character death without mod permission, there will be in-game consequences for all actions, and at the end of the event, all characters will remember said actions. In other words- everyone is accountable for what they do!

There will be a post made in rubycity_rp announcing the start of the event on Wednesday. If you do not see your character on this list and you signed them up, please contact a mod.

The switches are as followed:

Derek Hale and Stiles Stilinski:

Stiles will receive Derek’s lycanthropy, with the exception of Derek’s alpha status, presence, and eye flash. Derek will get Stiles’s ability as a magical catalyst, or rather, his “spark.”

Adam Milligan and Adam Young:

Adam Milligan will receive Adam Young’s antichrist powers, which will allow him the ability to change reality at his will, but this will be extremely muted. Demons will not be able to look him in the eye without wanting to flee. As an added bonus, Adam will have Dog, a hellhound, as his companion for the duration of the event. Dog will do his bidding, and after the event, he will return to Adam Young, although Adam Milligan will have a friend for life in Dog.

Adam Young will not be receiving any mentionable power or ability in return.

Dirk Strider and Jack Frost:

Dirk will receive Jack’s winter-based abilities, which include frost spreading where he walks, control over the wind, instilling laughter and happiness in others through magic snowflakes, and generally spreading snow around. Jack will receive Dirk’s speed, sword-fighting skills, and his inability to die properly.

Enjolras and Canada:

Enjolras will be receiving Canada’s ability to go completely unnoticed and looked over. Canada will receiving Enjolras’s gift for rhetoric and his charmisma.

Dean Winchester and Anita Blake:

Dean will be receiving Anita’s necromancy, enhanced stamina/endurance, quick healing, and telepathic dreams. The necromancy requires training and regular use for control. Anita will find herself only with the abilities of a regular hunter- the knowledge and ability to use various weapons and use hand-to-hand combat,

Sunny Milk, Luna Child, Star Sapphire and Henry Mills:

Henry will receive the following powers from the three fairies- the ability to refract light and make illusions, make things invisible, mute sounds in a radius around him, detect moving objects around him, and fly. The ability to create illusions or make things invisible will be weaker at night, and the muting ability will be more difficult unless the moon is in the sky. The fairies will find themselves without these powers.

Warren Peace and James Potter:

James will receive enhanced endurance and fire starting. He will not be significantly hurt by things like getting thrown through a wall, and will be able to light his fingers, hands or entire arms on fire. He can also throw fireballs, heat up his skin sans fire and become totally immune to fire and heat. However, he cannot set anything past his shoulders on fire, and clothes are not flame-resistant. He will be hypersensitive to cold, and extreme things such as breaking a bone will still hurt.

Warren will have the ability to use magic, but will need a wand to be able to control it.

Steve Rogers and Rose Lalonde:

For the duration of the event, Steve will be reverted back to his pre-serum body with all of his previous afflictions. Along with that, he will have intuition/visions that can predict the present/future, although that will be limited due to the circumstances of the city. He will be immortal, except for circumstances where his death would be just or heroic, and he will also have the ability to fly/float, and wield dark magic, such as the use of energy blasts and telekinesis (with the likely side effect of having tentacle monsters whisper in his brain). As a bonus: he will have the skill of using knitting needles and similar objects as a combative weapon. If he tries using the dark magic while having strong negative emotions, he will go grimdark and become a grey-skinned, gibberish-speaking powerful madman.

Rose will have all of Steve’s abilities from Erskine’s serum; it will be like she went through the experiment herself. Whatever she is at the core will be emphasized physically; for example, if she is good, she will be better. She may wake up finding herself taller and more fit, with super endurance, strength, and speed. Her metabolism will be higher, so getting drunk will be impossible for her. Due to these changes, it is possible that she will be more prone to clumsiness at first.

Doctor Whale and Zatanna Zatara:

Doctor Whale will have the ability to use magic, but will only be limited to his energy. Zatanna will have Whale’s intelligence, and possibly an interest in unorthodox science.

Sheriff Stilinski and Loki (MCU):

Sheriff Stilinski will have the ability to use magic, have superhuman durability, and be immortal. However, he will lack the ability to know how to use the magic. Loki will find himself mortal and “normal.”

Grace and England:

Grace will be immortal and have the ability to use magic and become more durable in regards to sustaining injuries. England will find himself mortal and possibly with a more joyous demeanor.

Axl Low and Nepeta Leijon:

Nepeta will have the ability to involuntarily travel back in time, but only in an observer’s role. She will not be able to change previous events. Axl will have Nepeta’s strength, hunting skills, battle coordination, and cat-like agility. He will still be able to sustain injuries.

Flicker and Jane Foster:

Jane will find herself rather dragon-like. She will have wings, scales, and firebreath, while still remaining bipedal. Flicker will be human and will find himself knowledgeable of computers, science, and astronomy.

Claudia Kotomine and Celty Sturluson:

Claudia will have the ability to make and control shadows and her body will be able to heal itself from any injuries. The shadows can be used to inflict damage if she wishes. Celty will have Masochistic Pneumatic Automatism Diathesis, so being around demons or anything of that nature will cause physical damage to her, and she will be able to feel it. As a bonus, her head will be attached for the duration of the event.

Morrigan and Graverobber:

Graverobber will have the ability to use energy blasts, fly, teleport, and summon bats. Morrigan will be lacking these abilities.

Archie Hopper and alpha!Rose Lalonde:

Archie will have the ability to use limited clairvoyance, dark magic, and knitting-needle combat skills. He will not be able to use the clairvoyance for anything outside of the city or in the catacombs. Using dark magic have negative repercussions that will result in tentacle monsters. Rose will find herself with exceptional memory skills/story recall.

Lancer and Gabriel:

Lancer will get Gabriel’s angelic Grace which comes with the wings, the being able to heal/bring back the dead, nigh-omnipotence - the whole nine yards. However, no one can see the wings - Lancer can't use his Grace and show someone his true form, or their eyes will burn out. Also, healing scrapes, wounds, that kind of stuff? Easy, but bringing back the dead ie. Dean in Mystery Spot's a much trickier job.

Gabriel will have the ability to have boosted strength, speed, and endurance; ability to dematerialize into a spirit form; and the ability to summon a select weapon out of thin air, but usage of this is limited.

Phoenix Wright and Aradia Megido:

Phoenix will have the ability to time travel, freeze people in time, fly, use telekinesis, and be relatively immortal. However, time-travelling in the city has been limited to turning back in time and act as an invisible spectator to past events within the game plot - but no further back than that. No interference with the timelines has been allowed or made possible. Freezing others in time/on their spot requires focus and as such is assumed to be broken once the very same is broken. Immortality works under specific circumstances: if the character is killed without being prompted/prompting someone to fight (i.e. if they get caught in the middle of something or someone tries to hurt them for no justifiable reason) they are revived. However, if the character dies a just or heroic death, it is irreversible. "Just" usually implies the character has done something for which they received adequate punishment whereas "heroic" implies self-sacrifice or dying for a noble cause.

Telekinesis doesn't really have much of a limitation - Phoenix is free to use the power to lift heavy objects or even himself.

Aradia will be without her powers.

Bobby Lassiter and Sona Buvelle:

Bobby will have epic musical skills, the ability to heal, stun, and fight others with music. Bobby will not have the ability to bring anyone back to life. Sona will be have stage magician-ship skills, such as slight of hand, card tricks, etc.

Clint Barton and the Signless:

The Signless will have expert marksmanship and will never miss a target. Clint will now have the ability to make very long, eloquent speeches, and will know how to use sicles in combat.

Dante and Bucky Barnes:

Bucky will have Dante’s demon powers- increased speed, perception, agility, and rapid healing. He will also have all of his styles, except for Dark Slayer. The downside is the devil arms probably will not obey Bucky, so should he choose to fight, he might have to deal with weapons breaking.

Dante will not only gain Bucky’s mortality/humanity, but also all of his skill as a sniper/sharpshooter, hand-to-hand combat, and with military strategy.

Lukas and Astrid Hofferson:

Lukas will have increased strength and agility, while Astrid will be able to read people's deepest, darkest desires, even if they're not aware of it themselves, but she must be in physical contact with them for it to work.

Davesprite and Colias Palaeno:

Colias will turn into an orange ghost and have glowing blood. He’ll be able to float, pass through solid objects, and have a trailing ghost tail. He will also be able to shoot lasers that range from fine, precision lasers to wide beams, can be emitted from eyes or elsewhere and change shape. However, phasing through things leaves gross ecto-goo on the objects, being a ghost thing means he can still get hurt and die, and he may or may not experience an urge to provide exposition as if he were in a video game tutorial.

Davesprite will get legs and an affinity for coupons, and the desire and ability to create wonderful coupon ideas.

Homura and Norman Jayden:

Norman will have athletic ability & durability, extra dimensional storage space, the ability to freeze time, some additional magic -- small things, but also the ability to heal his vision & other physical ailments. If he does this, his soul will be extracted from his body and placed into an external soul gem, which, if separated from him by more than a few feet, will turn body into a corpse.

Homura will get space crack addiction and Super Klutz ability. The addiction would manifest itself primarily in withdrawal symptoms. Cold sweats, shaking hands, vertigo, nosebleed. The worst of the symptoms can be fought off by splashing cold water on her face or taking a cold shower and just waiting it out, and the acute attacks only occur after using ARI or in situations of extreme personal stress.

Shinjiro and Ahiru:

Ahiru will be able to summon a Persona, specifically a Persona which grants hugely powerful physical attacks and impressive physical resistance. However, the Persona can only be summoned by a device called an Evoker, which looks like a gun and which you shoot yourself with; and many people have difficulty controlling their Persona.

Shinjiro will be able to transform into a magical person with the ability of defeating evil with ballet, downside: turns into a duck when they become scared/embarrassed.

Edward and Severus Snape:

Edward will have the ability to use magic. Snape will have the ability to accurately use a variety of weapons.

Thor and Madoka:

Madoka will have uper strength, enhanced endurance and will also inherit his affinity with Mjölnir, which will give her the ability to control the weather.

Thor will have the ability to use magic, which includes the ability to summon a bow and arrows of light He will also have very basic healing magic. However, it may take him awhile to refine his skill and be good at using it

Emma Swan and Kirei Kotomine:

Kirei will have the ability to to tell when anyone is lying and excellent instincts concerning reading people, but will be unable to pick up on things such as lying through omission.

Emma will inherit Kirei’s abilities as a magecraft, which will allow her to be a talented spiritual healer.

Leah of Hel and Milah:

Milah will have the ability to conjure up portals to other locations, interrupt other spells/rerouting teleportation abilities, and shielding magic. She will not be able to use the portals to leave the city.

Leah will have swordsmanship skills.

Remus and Dawn:

Dawn will have the ability of an accomplished wizard and will be able to perform wandless magic. This requires the correct words to be spoken for the spell to work, so she will possibly find herself casting many accidental spells. She will also inherit lycanthrophy and involuntary change on the full moon into a mindless creature if Wolfsbane Potion isn't used. She will become increasingly tired over the week beforehand.

Remus will gain an affinity for learning new languages.

Alice Liddell (game) and Alice Liddell (book):

Book!Alice will gain the ability to use hysteria--at the edge of one's sanity (alternatively: if she’s close to death) she would release a blood-curdling scream, reverting to a black-white-red colour scheme, with red eyes, blooded hands, face and clothes. Weapons and other attacks become visibly stronger and Alice becomes more or less invincible for the minute or so it lasts--and ability to butterfly dodge, double jump and float, which allows her to swiftly evade enemy attacks/move at higher speed: she can turn into a swarm of butterflies and mist and move several feet in another direction. Alice should also be able to perform double jumps in the air, glide towards the ground slowly in a small cloud of butterflies and combine them with the aforementioned dodge skill. Alice will also have the ability to shrink to the side of a palm to get to small places.

Video game!Alice will be without these abilities.

Meg and Integra Hellsing:

Integra will have all of Meg’s demon powers with the exception of possession. She will be able to read minds, have superhuman strength and durability, but will be at the limitations of demons within the Supernatural series. Holy water, salt, and iron will hurt her, she will not be able to cross an iron line, and if she walks into a demon trap, she is stuck there until it is broken by someone else.

Meg will have deadly accuracy with weaponry.

Tifa Lockhart and alpha!Dave Strider:

Alpha!Dave will have bartending, martial arts mastery skills along with the ability to use materia.

Tifa will have flash-stepping and swordsmanship skills. However, she may be unlikely to use flash-stepping to the fullest extent without instruction from one of the Striders, unless she is familiar with other means of short-range teleportation.

Regina Mills and Belle French:

Belle will have the ability to use magic, which includes conjuring fireballs to launch at people or burn objects at will, the ability to rip out and return another person’s heart. If in possession of someone’s heart, she can control them or kill them; all she needs to do is squeeze hard enough. She will also be capable of mercy killing (causing someone to disintegrate painlessly), force people to do her bidding through magic, teleport, transform her appearance, and use vines to tie up and bind people.

However, the use of magic is addictive and negative effects include impaired judgement and mental/emotional well-being. It can also leave her exhausted and fairy dust can leave her unable to use these abilities.

Regina will find herself completely powerless and unable to use her magic.

Kariya and Saber:

Kariya will receive possession of the noble phantasm and sword Excalibur, the enormous magic circuit of a dragon, and 'prana burst', an ability that allows prana to be used to reinforce armor and weaponry as well as generate a suit of armor itself. Saber will keep her chivalry, instinct, and riding skills, so Kariya will not have any knowledge of how to use these powers to their fullest extents if properly at all.

Dimitri Lebedev and Miles Edgeworth:

Miles will have the ability to use psychokinesis and telepathy. He will able to read almost every mind within a very large radius and move things about with his mind. Dimitri will have the ability to play play "Logic chess" with his opponents to carefully pull apart their defenses and force them to reveal their secrets.

202 and Discord:

Discord will have extreme strength and durability, rapid healing, heightened senses(primarily smell and hearing), and of course the potential to 'shift' into the form of either an exceptionally large wolf (about 3.5' at the shoulder) or a massive and rather frightening werewolf (primarily bipedal, about 8' at the shoulder). The change is entirely voluntary and not based at all upon the moon or anything other than his will, as it is a physical ability rather than a supernatural one. Individual body parts can change if shifting the entire body is not what is desired.

However, his metabolism will run at a ridiculous pace and he will need to eat very, very frequently, and in truly huge quantities. Even when in human shape, a 'Shift' is still essentially powering/feeding almost half a ton of predator. His weight literally remains the same either way, which may be hard for him to adjust to. Because of the body density, he will also not be able to float enough to swim; any large body of water will pose a very real drowning threat. Additionally, the change is about as painful as one might expect from a process that involves the breaking and rearranging of bones, ripping open of skin, and so forth. The pain is debilitating(made worse if one tries to rush the change, which normally takes from five to ten minutes), and for a few minutes afterwards the newly-changed body will be incredibly sensitive to any sort of touch.

202 will have the magical ability to conjure small things and induce mild changes to close surroundings in order to induce chaos. Within very close range to an individual, these abilities also allow for the creation of manipulative illusions. She will also receive Discord's trickster nature and flippant demeanor. The abilities may be used for other means than creating chaos, but the urge to create chaos is very strong, and in fact is an impulse that she will not be able to curb. However, unless she is well-versed in the skill of pulling people's strings metaphorically and manipulating their actions, the illusions are not bound to work without instruction.

Admittedly, I don't know much about DRRR, so!

Colias is going to be a laser-shooting ghost, and I am up for any and all plotting relating to that, too. He will not know what to do, but he'll try to make the best of it.

So Celty will be effectively human for the duration of the event...and breaking out in lacerations any time she's near a demon or a monster. Her own instant healing is gone too.

So Rose is becoming Captain America for two weeks and isn't very happy about it. Though she's stronger/speedier/more agile, she's also gonna be falling all over herself a lot (guess who's gonna be like almost six feet tall) and mad as a wet cat because she can't get drunk. 8D (Note: Rose will likely destroy any and all alcohol stashes in her path trying to get tipsy, until she realizes that it is useless.)

Despite this, she may be out and about more than usual, enjoying freedom from tentacle monster whispers and trying out all her new crazy physical abilities. At first she'll be bumping into a lot of things and falling on her face a lot, but later in the weeks don't be surprised if you find an abruptly super-tall, vaguely muscular blonde girl attempting backflips in the park.

Steve-mun, please feel free to ask me anything about Rose's powers; I know how difficult to interpret they can be, haha.

Lancer

So Lancer traded in being a Servant for an Angel. Which means that he gets a lot of powers that he can't or doesn't want to use. But other than that, he'll just stick to his usual schedule of bumming around homeless, hanging around the forest or the river, greeting people at the train station, and hitting the bar. Also if someone infodumps him on the fact that he's now an Angel, he'll go brag to Kirei.

Adam's going to be upset. Very, very upset. Dog was sleeping at his feet just a second ago, and now he's gone, and no amount of calling, throwing a stick around, or even desperately willing him to come back will bring his friend back to his side. So expect to see a lot of crudely-made 'Have you seen this dog' posters around the city.

Henry Mills and James Potter

Henry will be very confused and almost horrified at having magic. This could go one of two ways. He will either enjoy magic and accept and understand it better, or it will make him hate it even more. We'll have to wait and see I think.

James will be in his element loving the fire power. Not so happy at losing his wand but someone's going to need to have a fire extinguisher on hand. Once he controls it though, things might calm down.
