Hey there, city residents!

This month, we have two events falling back to back and covering most of May. The Spring Awakening event is now over, albeit with a few lingering effects, and on Wednesday, May 17th our Inner Daemons event begins!

While still animal-centred, this one is a bit different. Each resident of the city is going to find themselves with a creature they can't quite get rid of, no matter how hard they try. In fact, trying will quickly show itself to be the most unpleasant thing they could try to do.

These animals aren't quite like other animals. They speak, regardless of their size and species, and they know everything there is to know about the person they are 'attached' to. They have always been there, and now this event allows them to take full form as a representation of the true inner self of their host.

Full information on the event can be found here! If you have any questions, please let us know in the comments.

Today marks the beginning of the Spring Awakening event, outlined in this month's State of the City! For a refresher, this event entails creatures both dangerous and benign converging upon the city proper, though exhibiting very little aggression, even if they would usually be inclined to attack.

Residents will be able to confront these creatures openly--for reference, everything in the first two levels of the bestiary is fair game! All of these entities are able to be played by players, but if you would prefer a mod to control one, leave us a comment under the header below.

Hello, citizens! This post is to let you all know that the What's Mine Is Yours event has begun! The event begins the moment your character wakes up on the 21st, and will end on Monday, the 24th.

Any questions or concerns will be addressed below! We hope you enjoy!

As characters wake up on the 13th, they will return to their usual shapes and sizes and ages, mentally and physically. However, those younger mindsets will linger in the back of characters' minds for up to a few weeks, the remnants of a past time. Additionally, they will remember everything that happened during the event, though it will be colored through the lens of their younger self's eyes.

Hello, Ruby Citizens! This post is to let you all know today's the official start of the Time Slip event. It'll run from today, the 5th, to Wednesday the 12th. Here's the rundown:
☆ The event is entirely optional. Your characters can absolutely remain their current age if you want them to!

☆ Feel free to have them age down as much or as little as you'd like, whether that be a day or several years!

☆ This can also last as little or as long as you'd like. Characters are free to switch between ages from day to day, hour to hour-- whatever's most fun for you!

☆ However! The longer they spend in their younger body, the longer they'll regress to that age. Memories of Ruby City will start to fade away, and they'll become precisely what they were. This process can be as immediate or as gradual as you'd like: they might spend the entire week with all their Ruby City memories, or have them fade just a touch, or almost immediately!

☆ After it ends, all characters will remember what's happened this past week, so don't do something too stupid while you're a kid! (Or do. We're not the bosses of you and yours).
There'll be no official event log or post: once the fifth hits, feel free to start playing! Any additional questions will be answered below.

Hello again, Ruby Citizens! We hope you’re ready for things to get . . . darkest timeline. From February 26th to March 6th, your characters are going to go through a personality change! This isn't something so mundane as a case of good turning into evil, but rather defining traits being reversed in the worst possible way. Whatever values and traits your character holds dearest are the ones that will be turned on their heads: a liar who prides themselves on their skills might suddenly become painfully honest, while a person who values their empathy might suddenly become coldly reserved. Be creative! There's no limit to how many traits might be affected, nor how twisted they might become.

That being said: the mirror being shattered caused ripples throughout the city, and as such things aren’t steady in the least. These mirror selves are unstable at best, and can frequently change in and out with the regular version of your character. They might not emerge at all, should you wish to abstain entirely from the event.

This event will carry on until each of the seven mirror pieces are found and restored to their frame. Up to fourteen characters can sign up, and will be paired together randomly. They’ll be given hints from Dil as to where they ought to search, as well as what monsters they might have to go up against. Of course, these mirror selves might not be entirely helpful, and reluctant to leave at all, so Dil is offering a reward. Should the character complete the task successfully, they’ll be given a reward: any non-weapon material good they desire.

The event timeline will be as follows:

Feb 26th: At dawn, a large mirror appears, placed right in front of the clock tower. At noon, it shatters-- but strangely enough, the pieces aren’t visible on the ground below. By six PM, your characters will start to notice changes, either within themselves or among their CR.
Feb 27th: Dil appears, informing certain characters that they’ve been tasked to find a certain shard. She’ll give hints about where to look and what monsters to watch out for, as well as informing them they have a certain deadline and the reward for completing it in time. There will be an NPC post for this, but it will be closed to the characters Dil has selected for this quest and will function ICly as private messages to each character’s watch.
March 5th: The deadline for the mirror shards to be found and put back in their frame.
March 6th: Once all the shards are returned, it takes a full 24 hours for the mirror to return to one piece. Characters’ mirror selves disappear around eight that evening, and the event ends.

New journals may be used during the event if you wish, though we ask you to list them in the comment below. Plot sign-ups are below as well.

Hi there, Ruby City-zens! It's your mod team with a quick question. We've heard from a couple people that the timeline of the event is a little too short and folks are feeling rushed. As such, we wanted to open the floor to a question for players: Would you like to extend the Hit On All Sixes plot?

If you feel strongly one way or the other, please fill out the textbox below! There are three options: keeping the plot as-is (ending on the 25th), extending it to Friday the 27th, or extending it to Saturday the 28th. We will close the poll at 10 PM EST on January 24th and put up the results on Plurk immediately following. Keep it one vote per player, please, and thank you as always for your feedback!

Would you like to extend the Hit On All Sixes plot?

Event Details:
Stage One: January 20 - 22nd:
The morning of January 20th will dawn like any other - or at least, so it will seem to the once again bewitched citizens of Ruby City. The year is 1921, the first World War has just ended, and everything seems on the rise. For the first three days of the event, nothing could be better, and your characters are encouraged to take advantage of the setting! Dancing, drinking (although Prohibition is in full effect, so do so carefully!), indulging in the arts or simply enjoying life in the busy city - all of it’s encouraged.

Stage Two: January 22nd, evening:
On January 22nd, the speakeasy Black Rabbit (in truth, Hotel Gaia transformed) is having a blowout bash. It's the day before the anniversary of when Prohibition was passed, and what better way to celebrate than with wine, women and song? Located southwest of the city center, the Black Rabbit is the place to be tonight. There's going to be all kinds of revelry, and you'd be a fool to miss it.

The general population aren't the only ones in attendance. At two AM, the police force are going to have a raid. Anyone and everyone in attendance will be arrested, on the general principle they shouldn't have been there anyway, and the commissioner isn't inclined to be kind. Any characters affiliated with the police will be encouraged to use excessive force, and it seems some of their NPC counterparts certainly are. Chaos and panic fill the air, and there's certainly the possibility of your character getting hurt, arrested, or otherwise inconvenienced.

Stage Three: January 23rd - 25th:
And now, the aftermath. Whether locked in prison, terribly injured, having made a getaway or simply guilty over their actions, the city is still reeling from the events of the 22nd. Police raids are no joke, and this one was particularly nasty: very few people escaped the club without any harm. In the wake of the raid, the city is noticeably on edge: the gangs are furious and ready to take revenge, the police are uncertain and covering for it by cracking down hard, and the citizens are caught awfully in the middle. There’s tension in the air, keeping everyone on edge, and it’s likely best if your character just keeps their head down . . .

Role sign-ups: Both the police and the gangs will have role sign-ups! Police slots are limited, but the gang sign-ups are merely there for everyone to coordinate who knows whom and how.
  • Police: There are five free slots open for police characters! As noted above, police will be in direct conflict with the rest of the citizens of Ruby City, and come the morning of the 23rd, will be forced to confront their actions one way or another.

  • Gangs: No city is complete without them! There are two rival gangs in Ruby City, commonly known simply by the area of the city they control: East and West. Which is your character a part of? What role do they play there? It's likely both gangs have a hand in supplying the drugs and alcohol for the upcoming event.

  • Socialites: Young, rich and carefree, most aristocrats and socialites were busy throwing costume parties, freely indulging their every whim, and slumming it downtown as they danced and drank the night away. Everyone knows everyone in this social scene, and it’s likely your families have a history going back ages.

  • Artists: The Jazz Age was a time for artists of all kinds of flourish. Musicians, dancers, painters, fashion designers . . . all were welcome to try their hand at the new deco style sweeping the nation.

  • Veterans: World War One is over, but that doesn't mean the aftermath isn't still felt. Those few who made it back are still reeling in shock, stunned by the amount of massacre they witnessed. Whether they throw themselves into the party scene or desperately try to escape it, there's no doubt their actions are fueled by the newfound shell shock.

  • Other: Of course, people fit into more roles than just these. If you can think of something else your character might be that fits in the setting, go wild!

  • Technology: New technologies are on the rise, and for the first time, seem affordable and accessible.
  • Cars: Notably, cars are here for the first time in Ruby City! While your characters won't be able to truly use these cars, they're zipping through the streets. They're hallucinations, and won't remain after this week.

  • Radio: The radio is all the rage. Each household now has a radio, always cheerfully pumping out tunes.

  • Movies: A new film is being streamed once a night over at the theater, courtesy of Jean-Pierre Polnareff.

  • Remember: for the event, Ruby City has been transformed into a proper populated city, teeming with millions. NPCs are there for you to use! In addition, for the duration of this event, we encourage you to fully get in the spirit of the times. Internal narration was a staple of the noir literature of the time, and so we would like to encourage players to use a first-person narration in their tags!

Some of these puzzles may be a bit too tricky to attempt to solve 100% in IC, so this is a post you can use for OOC collaboration and chatter! Of course, you don't have to use this--if it's easier for you, y'all can throw together a private plurk with your group's members, or a Skype chat, or...well, anything else that you want! We encourage you all to socialize with your groupmates, and happy puzzling!

It's October, the leaves are turning, and the smell of PUZZLES and CHEESY HAUNTED HOUSES is in the air. What does this smell like? To put it simply: leaf mold and pumpkin spice. As the month wears on, the days grow dark and stormy, true to literature legend, and the finest (and only!) hotel in Ruby City shuts its doors, starting October 17th. It will be completely inaccessible until the 24th, when people who have been marked earlier in the month will find themselves drawn to it--with a complete inability to resist. The real Halloween fun begins here.

Upon entering, characters will find themselves in a random room of the hotel, decorated festively with jack-o-lanterns and colored streamers, in a style oddly reminiscent of a certain someone's harvest party. What happens after that...well, let's keep that a surprise.

    WHAT ARE THE BASICS?

    • This event is opt-in only. If you want to participate, comment below in the provided header!

    • Characters will be organized into small groups of three by random--if there are any characters you would wish to not be paired with, let the mods know in your comment or by messaging the mod journal! This event will require some teamwork, so get your socialization muscles ready.

    • Characters will face a series of puzzles and trials: a variety of different challenges will be presented, allowing different characters to show their strengths, whether they be mental or physical. Any powers that a character normally possesses will be briefly taken away: think of the hotel-turned-haunted house as a kind of lead box, where supernatural abilities cannot be accessed. In addition to this, characters will only possess what items they had on their person at the time of entering.

    • A post will be set up on the ooc comm for some puzzle-solving between characters! Feel free to make plurks to set conversation up, as well--this will simply be a central point for collaboration.

    • Need to phone a friend? No problem! Characters WILL be able to access their watches and communicate with the outside? Stuck on a riddle? We will set up a post for specifically event-based network posts, but you can also post to IC inboxes as necessary.

    • More information will be presented on the event log going up on the 24th, along with groupings! Specific details will be withheld until then, but don't be discouraged from asking pertinent questions about the event itself below.

Merry Halloween, Ruby City! Stay tuned for an event log, an OOC collaboration post, and an IC network consolidation post all going up on the 24th! Again, any questions can be posted below. Have a great weekend, y'all!

The Strangers disappear as suddenly as their arrival began. The cause of their departure is unclear; they never achieved the nothing they so desperately desired, so why leave so much something lying around so messily? Some residents say they were congregating in the city center when they abruptly vanished, others say they were heading towards one of the apartment buildings. The only thing that's clear is that no two accounts are the same.

Those they leave behind begin an immediate — if gradual — recovery, though the peculiar grey marks left on their skin will linger. The memory of the Strangers' sudden, inexplicable aggression lingers, too, and unease may be bolstered by some eyewitness accounts of a beagle (adorable!) standing on its hind legs, front paws folded over its chest (less adorable). When the Strangers vanish, though, the beagle appears to as well.

Perhaps now is a good time for the citizens of Ruby City to consider the impossibility of personal autonomy in a terrifying multiverse. Or perhaps it's a better time for a citywide nap. Regardless: somewhere in the library, tucked away neatly in the reference section, is a thin book, more like a pamphlet, that simply reads nothing, line after line, page after page, cover to cover.

Now is the time for growing things. Flowers are blooming all over the city - open patches of ground, between cobbles, along the broken down walls… and anywhere that a crack and spot of sunlight might offer a place to root. Outdoors or indoors, nothing short of fire will stop the quick spread and for three days at the end of June the city turns into a veritable garden from top to bottom - a burst of nature that even the imposing black cathedral cannot escape.

The sudden verdant and intrusive growth does little harm, save for some minor structural damage and assault on the allergies of any hayfever sufferer, but several of the flower species are ones that have never been seen before and hold their own peculiar properties for those who might care to examine or experiment with them.

☆ A creeping plant covered in small, blue, star-like flowers centred with yellow causes faint light-headedness when inhaled closely, but brings a dreamless sleep if used in tea.
☆ A large, purple blossom resembling a rose but growing in small bunches attracts bees with its heavy scent, and clears foul odour if burned.
☆ Daisy-like flowers with bright orange petals that stain fingers when picked, their leaves curling against any touch. They clear the head when their delicate scent is inhaled.
☆ An unusual green-hued flower that grows on a vine gives off an odd antiseptic smell and works in much the same way that the smell suggests.
☆ Low shrubs with no flowers but dark red leaves and centimetre-long spikes on every branch do not look particularly inviting, but the sap found when the branches are broken or the bark is stripped gives off a sharp, tangy smell before becoming thick and glue-like when exposed to the air. Pressing two covered fingers together is not advised, as it will be difficult to prise them apart.

These flowers can be cultivated if harvested, but after three days of blooming almost all of them will begin to die off. This will leave some cleanup, but will also reveal the orchard in full fruit and ready to be picked. The flowers and plants will recede quickly but remain on the walls around the city… at least until the cold weather kills them off.

    Hello, Ruby City!

Much like we did with May’s event, July’s event requires some pre-planning on your part! All we need you to do is to very carefully look over the descriptions below, and select one tarot card that you feel best suits your character’s personality, then comment below using our handy provided form. If you can’t decide on one, or simply don’t wish to opt in--that’s alright! Your character will still have plenty of opportunities to engage in this event.

This opt-in opportunity will remain OPEN until 11:59 on June 30th. The rest of this event’s details will be released when the SotC goes up, along with our usual announcements. We can't spoil the surprise, after all!

    Until then…

    Stand proud, citizens.

This event ends not with a bang or a whimper, but a bleeding of colour much like a dampened painting. Any lingering lost memories return with a tickle of the realisation of lost knowledge. Across the sky, the until now muted sunlight brightens in a brilliant flash, then dims just as quickly as previously denied clouds rush in to cover it.

    It rains.

The city's real residents have done well in fighting off the fantasy and its inhabitants, leaving few prowling the streets once the imagined world has almost completely disintegrated. It remains in parts, hovering in slivers over the truth barely hidden behind it, weak to that which forced it to begin to collapse initially.

It is in these areas that the remaining shades lurk, now utterly twisted beyond anything resembling a human. In sharp, elongated shapes with gaping jaws and clawed hands, they lurk where they can still take form and wait for people to come to them. Over the coming week, they will dissipate or be destroyed as all others were, but until then, they still present a danger to the unprepared.

Spending too long in the small spaces which still contain patches of the other world - should one be able to do so without being attacked - comes with its own risks. Lingering in these places will draw on your own memories, causing you to forget... but someone will come and get you before that happens, won't they?

This is the OOC tracking post for any notable events that happen during the course of the May event To Far Flung Corners. What we would like to see here are any important things that happen to your characters in terms of challenges that they have to face on their way back to the city (or within it, should they still be inside).

What you tell us comes down to what you feel would be important, in-keeping with the theme of the game that we are trying to put into play.

    Examples!

    Example One
    GROUP # (header)
A and B get into an argument. They realise that fighting has no use in their current situation, and agree to let it go.

    Link: (link here)
    Virtue or Vice displayed: Patience

    Example Two
    GROUP # (header)
A warns the group about [danger] as soon as he sees it, as they know what it is capable of. B decides to try and confront it anyway, despite the warning.

    Link: (link here)
    Virtue or Vice displayed: Pride

This is something that is still in its experimental phase, so if you get stuck at any point, please let us know!

To Far Flung Corners -- May 07 - May 14.

Unusually, this upcoming event is entirely Chassie's doing, trying to get everyone to work together and stop fighting! Even those who remain in the city won't be entirely safe. Of course, Chassie is only a little girl and her idea of getting the quarrelling opposites to work together is going to turn out to be far more literal than anyone might have expected. Few people realise just how much power is contained inside the body and mind of this eight year old, and just what can happen when she decides she is going to use it.

What we have for you right now is a basic run down of the nitty-gritty of the event, since it requires some extra forward planning. The flavour text will be added when the State of the City for May is written up, and any extra questions that you have will be answered at that time!

For this event, we will be asking for people to volunteer their characters to be RNG'd into groups (we are hoping for a total of seven groups of three or four, but can work with less - or more!) and each sent to a specified location on the world map, left to find their way back to the city using their own abilities. However(!) any magic which would allow them to teleport/any other similar thing will be nullified. Each group will face trials and difficulties based on one (or two, depending on how many groups can be reasonably made) pair of vices/virtues.

    -More Player-Guided Option-

You will get a list of the difficulties which will be faced by your characters, and you will be allowed to play these out as you see fit! There will be little to no moderator intervention in threads and whether they succeed or fail in their tasks will be completely down to yourselves and how much you want to put them through. We - the mod team - will be keeping an eye on these threads to see how they develop, but we'll leave the direction and in-group plotting entirely down to you guys.

    -Less Player-Guided Option-

This is where things get a little trickier for the mod team! A separate post can be set up to monitor your character's journies and their success (or failure) in the situations that they face (possibly using RNG). We can see how this might be more appealing for some, which is why we are posing it as a suggestion!

In either option, you will still be able to have measure of IC control over the creatures and monsters your characters face... and just how much 'interaction' they have with your group.

Note: This event will be used as a 'test run' for the proposed new vice/virtue system outlined here, where we will be seeing just how we can best make it work. Forgive us while we work out some kinks!

So, what do we need from you right now? Please fill in the below form and post it below the relevant comment. We would also like to hear your opinions on whether or not you would like an RNG element! Volunteering will be open until April 30th.

Since the circumstances are somewhat different to simply putting someone on a test drive, the application form linked to this event is different too. Rather than focusing on personality and background information, we are going to focus on play style and in-character behaviour.

If you wish to apply for a character that you are playing in the fourth wall, please fill in the below application and post it ON THIS POST. The subject line should contain your character name and canon.

    PLAYER
    Name:

For example, if you are apping Mario and you already play Princess Peach in the game, how will you handle their interactions without playercesting? Depending on your answer, you may be refused the character you are apping for.

Abilities: This can be linked or given in a bulleted list.

Samples: OPTION A: We require links to at least three threads which took place during the event, to a length of at least FIVE of your comments each. These can be in any format, style or tense, but must show us that you have a good grasp of your character.
OPTION B: TWO samples, both of which take place within the game setting. These must show us that you have a good grasp of your character's behaviours and internal thought processes.

We will be accepting fourth wall character applications until Sunday, March 20th. After this, you will be required to fill in the expanded form.

MOD QUESTION: Is there any part of this form that you would like to see/think we should incorporate into our regular form? We are listening <3

    Hail, Rubyites!

It has been noticed by many over the weekend that several prized possessions have gone missing. Perhaps the fairies were even seen spiriting objects away.

    Unfortunately, their preference for well-loved objects, shiny things and pretty much anything of any emotional value has caused no small amount of distress for several people in the city. The thing is, they can't really use anything that they take. Therefore, while they're not actively giving everything back with a written apology, most (if not all) victims of their thievery will find their belongings in one or more of the following ways;
    - In an unusual place: in the bath, on a roof, in a tree or cave, inside a monster (yes, inside), or even somewhere outside of the city entirely.

    - With an unusual person: the fairies don't know anything of the complicated relationships through the city, so when they leave an item somewhere they take little notice of whether or not that person gets along with the one that they left the stolen thing with, or even if they know them at all.

    - In a strange time: perhaps they liked your item enough to take it back with them. The time dilation effect experienced in a fairy ring means that your precious belonging may reappear in days, weeks or even months. They might search for you, for a trade. Luckily, the fickle loyalty of a fairy is easily bought.

Some of the creatures that they tempted too close may need chasing off, or pointing in the right direction towards where they came from. Negative/violent altercations are definitely allowed! If you would like a log setting up, or a monster NPCing for you, leave a comment at the bottom of this post.

    RUMOR WAR EVENT
    Through the Looking Glass
    SUMMARY:
During this mild horror/adventure event, characters will be pulled into a world which is a reflection of the American McGee's Alice canon. Participants will slowly regain the memories lost earlier in the month and be forced to face them, either ultimately confronting them or choosing to flee.
    NPCs:
Diligence (Dil Blackwood), Sloth (Ariel Slavkov), Kindness (Tim Lear)
    EVENT DURATION:
    October 19-30
    EFFECTS:
IC: Characters will feel compelled to touch the mirror that beckons them to Wonderland, but this is optional. There will be no physical or mental changes to the characters, save for the regain of lost memories and the consequences of their final decisions in the event. All deaths occurring through the event will result in the immediate expulsion of the character from Wonderland. Any occurring outside of Wonderland will incur the usual penalties.

    OOC:
Any relevant actions taken by characters will ideally be logged in the provided post. 'CONFRONT' will involve an individual directly confronting a situation or obstacle. 'FLEE' relates to the opposite - a situation or obstacle being avoided or fled from. 'HELP' requires someone stepping in to actively assist someone else with a problem or fear.
    ENVIRONMENT CHANGES:
No changes in the environment of Ruby City itself. This event will take place in an 'alternate dimension' accessed via mirrors.
    EVENT DETAILS:
    Stage One-
Mirrors have long been viewed as portals in varying ways, and now they become a portal to a strange other dimension only viewable once it has been passed into. Everyone - but particularly those who had a memory taken from them earlier in the month - will begin to see strange things from the corner of their eye in each mirror they pass. Perhaps they see themselves, but their reflection looks 'different', or the scene they see mirrored back to them is somehow twisted in a way which cannot be pinpointed, but is more felt than seen. Whatever it is, it's enough to eventually draw attention.

'Why not touch it?' is the thought that runs, unbidden but completely sensible, through each individual's mind. The compulsion is there, for a few moments, and if acted on will immediately pull the person through the surface of the mirror (no matter the mirror's size) into a strange, grassy glade, populated by trees and colourful plants, with a clear river running through it. Others may already be present, sizing up their situation when the cat appears, looking over those gathered as if utterly exasperated that they are present.

The creature will introduce itself as the Cheshire Cat, and the area around it as the Vale of Tears. This, it will tell you, is the only 'safe' space remaining in this world. You see, Wonderland is very much influenced by the minds of those roaming inside it, and so many minds at once is just no good at all. So, the cat would very much like you all gone. It's a matter of keeping things tidy, you understand.

But things are never that easy. The Cheshire Cat can't simply send everyone back. All he can do is make things a little easier than they were for the last poor, confused girl who stumbled her way through here. Identifying those who have lost memories, he will ask them directly if they think that they might have forgotten something... in that smug, knowing way that suggests that the question is entirely rhetorical. These are the people that Wonderland will mold itself around, taking their memories and turning them into challenges and puzzles to be faced, worked through and overcome.

Of course, you're free to stay in the Vale of Tears, nice and safe, until enough people have been expelled from Wonderland that it isn't quite so difficult to remove the rest, but where would be the fun in that?

    Stage Two-

The shallow river running through the Vale appears to be its only exit, though splits into several different paths just out of sight. Each appears identical, flanked by high cliffs, but once one is chosen the others will disappear - leaving only one path back to the Vale, which will be completely empty if returned to. The cliffs will quickly begin to drop, the river continuing to flow in a strangely bright shade of blue through the landscape. The sky holds no discernable sun despite the apparent daylight, and is 'painted' in pastel colours that sting the eyes if stared at for too long.

On leaving the Vale of Tears, each lost memory will begin to distort Wonderland. The Cat will advise that no one travel in a group larger than four or five, but such recommendations are more guidelines than actual rules. If only a single person in a group has lost experiences, it is only their psyche that will change the world around them. If there are multiple people, however, their absent memories may mix and blend together in some unexpected ways! Those who were taken through a mirror with their minds fully intact will be able to assist their friends and companions, but will have no effect on the way that the world around them changes.

As each group moves towards their escape they will pass through three 'layers' of Wonderland, each ending in a freestanding door which may be opened and passed through to reach the next stage.

Upon first leaving the Vale, the world will not seem terribly different at all. The first layer is almost easy, plagued with only minor annoyances that are only vaguely familiar. However, the deeper your characters venture, the more the environment will twist to match them. Everything from the trees to the grass to the clouds and the sky will reflect the adventurers' lost memories in some way. As they progress to the second layer of their Wonderland, their paths may become obstructed by tedious puzzles, forboding pits, or frightening imagery. Beasties, seemingly plucked right out of their most private of stress dreams may also be nipping at their heels. These creatures, when dispatched either close up or at range, will shatter like glass.

Through the third and last door is a final confrontation. A manifestation of the memory, event or personal shortcoming which has not been faced or overcome may be either faced or fled from. Reaching the final stage will result in the return of everything that was lost and the individual (or individuals) may make the choice to face up to their problem and admit it to themselves and/or their companions.. or to continue ignoring it.

No one would be blamed for taking the easy way out, but it is the easy way.

    Stage Three-

Passing through the final stage in one way or another will free the group from Wonderland and the grasp of the mirror, back into Ruby City.

    ---

Once the event begins, those who resist the urge to touch the mirrors may see brief snatches of what is happening to different groups and hear voices coming from reflective surfaces. They will, unfortunately, be unable to help without going through the looking glass...

    ---

A log will be set up for the purpose of this event, but there will also be a second tracking log for the purpose of tracking what each character does throughout their journey through Wonderland. Is your character a coward who will run and hide? Do they step in to help other people get over their fears? Will they confront their own? Each layer of Wonderland will have a separate header, under which you can comment with 'confront', 'flee', or 'help' and a brief description of what your character did. Each can be hit more than once! This will be for the purpose of tracking Diligence, Sloth and Kindness.
    NETWORK CHANGES:
There will be no major changes to the network. Characters in Wonderland will still be able to contact those on the outside, though the feed may cut out or have poor reception.
    REQUIRED SIGNUPS:
Signups are not required. If you are yet to choose a memory for your character to lose, you can still do that.
    OPT OUT OPTIONS:
There are no specific steps to take for opting-out; simply don't participate.

If you have any questions, please ask them under the comment headed "Questions". Otherwise, feel free to use this post for plotting purposes!

    Hello, darlings!

A quick note from your mods to let you know that the event has officially concluded. However, there are still ongoing effects which will no doubt be causing our residents misery for several weeks to come.

Feel free to continue to backtag each other and the event logs for as long as you desire.

Thank you for playing, we hope you had fun!
