September Test Drive!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!
Original Character | Libitina 'Libby' Mara (Death)
Ugh. How disappointing.
[She stands in the middle of the cathedral with her hands on her hips, the door left wide open behind her and any candles that were left burning on her entrance now little more than smoking embers. Clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth she flings her arms out and spins in a circle.]
Helloooooo~ [The echo produced seems to satisfy her, and she presses two fingertips to her lips to suppress a giggle.] Oops.
[Hands back on her hips, she taps her fingers once against the line of her belt. Alright, then, that's enough of that.]
---
scenario 2;
[It's raining. Face turned up, she lets the drops fall on her until her hair is hanging heavy past her shoulders and the dark makeup around her eyes is running down her cheeks in narrow rivulets of black. Her clothes cling, showing the curves of her chest and waist beneath and as thunder rumbles across the sky, her eyes open.
Should she spy you watching her, this is the point she might give you a cheeky little wave.]
See something you like?
---
scenario 3;
[It's everywhere, the feel of it, but she can't track down the source. This place has no graveyard, no place to keep the dead - even the morgue is barely worthy of the name - and yet she can feel it pulling at her, calling to her.
It's so frustrating.]
This isn't funny anymore! [She shouts at nothing in the middle of the park, the grass beneath her feet beginning to wilt and turn brown.] Come on, Tempore, I know it's you! Did I piss someone off? Answer me!
[Her hands go up into her hair, tugging at the roots. Slowly, her attention is drawn to a nearby cave entrance and she turns on her heel to march towards it, that feeling growing stronger as she does.]

Tyler Warrens / Original Character
[If this had been a month ago Tyler would probably be more unnerved by the fact he woke up on a train he didn't remember boarding and winding up getting off at a stop he didn't know.
After the month he's had, though, all Tai can do is look left and right, readjusting his worn baseball cape.]
Right... [He squinted at the sign, his sunglasses slipping down his nose.] Ruby City?
[He'd never heard of it. With a frown, and a slowly growing sense of dread he reached into his back pocket pulling out both a pocket watch and a very old looking Nokia phone. The watch received a curious look before his attention turned to his cell phone, opening up the contacts. He would just call Maria, she might be able to explain what was going on and if not Ms. Sashi could. It was probably nothing to panic about and-
And he had no service.]
Ah c'mon phone, don't fail me now!
[And he'll just spend the next couple minutes frantically trying to get his phone to work, trying his best to keep calm and not freak out.]
8-4
[Alright, so he's gathered a few things since his arrival, and the plan to not freak out had promptly been thrown out the window.
Of course he's doing the freaking out inwardly, the panic spiking in his chest as he wanders down the unfamiliar streets of the city. He was stuck here? Indefinitely? He couldn't be stuck here. He needed to get home - for Naomi, for Kou. What was going to happen if he stayed here? Time really couldn't be paused, there was no way that could happen.
His stomach twisted and he fought down another wave of panic that crashed over him.
He continues to look around, eyes widening when he thinks he sees a familiar face. He rushes forward, calling out to them; for any dark haired women they'll receive a relieved 'Maria', to any brunette's a relieved 'Nao', and for any young men with dark hair they'll hear a choked 'Kou'.
Of course when he realizes he's mistaken his eyes widen, cheeks going red.]
Oh! Shoot, sorry!
10-3
[And as if this day couldn't get any worse, a downpour. Tai has to groan, rushing forward and into the first building he can find.
It's not until he's shaking out his hat that he realizes said building is a church. A weak smile forms as he puts his hat back on backwards, wandering down the aisles.]
Is this some sort of punishment for missing mass for, like, a month and a half?
[The jesting tone is weak. He sighs, sitting down, staring ahead as he reflects on the strange day. The panic he's been fighting down wells up again and he tries to fight it down, especially when he notices the way the candles flames grow. He had to stay calm, starting a fire was the last thing he wanted to do.
It was easier said then done.]

clay/clyteus || original character
[ After over a millennium of practice, it isn't often that Clay loses his cool. He might be brutish, harsh, and snarky, but rarely does he panic, and it's even rarer that he shows it. Despite that, this is one of those few times. ]
This is not fucking funny! [ He roars, and in fact, that's an accurate way to describe the oddly raspy way that his voice bellows the statement at the train tracks as the train pulls away. The apparently late-20s, early-30s, 6 foot tall man paces like a zoo animal in desperate fury. ]
With a disgruntled throw of his hands in defeat, he begins to look around. ]
What the fuck is this? [ A glance at the friendly, welcoming posters only piss him off further, tearing one off the wall and crumbling it in his fist. Heaven help him if you piss this dragon off even more when he's been taken apparently miles away from his home and his hoard. ]
two; ( 6 + 3 )
[ Rain tended to make Clay a little... grumpy, probably because it made it hard to breathe fire at particularly irritating people. He stared out the window with lowered eyebrows, glaring at the water dripping off the roof of the cafe. ]
Oh Christ, this is fucking terrible. Never thought I would actually miss Starbucks.
[ Wrinkling his nose and sipping the shitty coffee again. ]
The Meta Crisis Doctor | Doctor Who
The Half human Doctor walked wearily along the sidewalk. His attention turned to the ruined buildings while his mind was working out the mechanics as to how he had gotten on a train from the beach and to this city. Even though he was only half now, surely his mind wasn't in a state that would cause him to have black outs. A loud rumble of thunder and he craned his head up to look at the menacing dark clouds. It wasn't going to get any better.
[Cinder] Ella | Cinderella (2015)
[She arrives rainsoaked in a pink dress with one torn sleeve, carrying a single glass slipper with several mice in it. For the shape she's in though, she's all smiles. Ella had gone to the ball and had seen Kit, the prince, and had a wonderful time. That it's just a memory now doesn't hurt her so much as one might think, memories are a beautiful thing. She keeps them close and treasures them.
At least it isn't raining in Ruby City, a little sunlight is pleasant. And Ella's more than happy to walk around the city, barefooted, as she dries the natural way.]
Hungry
[The stove in her home hasn't been working quite right, which has force Ella to slip into one of the shops and use their stove. Hopefully no one would mind, and she'd be out of the way quickly once she was done and had cleaned up.
A couple small chunks of cheese are set on the counter and her mouse companions sat there nibbling away at it (Gus-Gus being a big selfish in how much he tries to shove into his mouth) while she cooks. For one so young, Ella's a very good cook though. It's something one becomes good at when one serves her step-mother and step-sisters daily.
Perhaps the smell draws someone near?]
wildcard
[Ella dances through the park, humming softly. It's a beautiful day and she hates wasting beautiful days. And she's treasuring not having to tend her step-family, not having countless chores to occupy her or protecting the mice from Lucifer.]
Lavender's green, dilly dilly, lavender's blue, you must love me, dilly dilly, for I love you. Let the birds sing, dilly dilly, and the lambs play, we shall be safe, dilly dilly, out of harms way.
Hungry
And he's incredibly partial to big, fat, and selfish mice, as many owls are.
He screeched and was quick to put a claw over the mouse, clicking his beak. He was making sure his princess's shop wasn't infested and here were mice sitting right on her counter, eating!
He clicked his beak again, deciding where best to start with this plump meal.]

The sound of a voice singing called out to him and he stopped. It seemed...familiar...important. Carefully, he followed the trail towards it, hand on the hilt of his sword as he approaches.
And stops, mesmerized.
It's her. He'd swear it on his beloved mother's grave. Though he's never heard her sing, he'd know her from anywhere, even disguised. He waits until she stops singing before speaking.]

Tom Marvolo Riddle | Harry Potter
Tom stepped off the train in his Hogwarts robes and looked around. This wasn't how it had all been described to him. He expected the platform to be full of people and yet there wasn't a person in sight. He saw no sign that said Hogsmeade Station either. Looking at the posters on the wall he appeared to have arrived in a place called Ruby City. Was this a test?
As he moved to take out his wand for protection, not that he knew how to use it, his hand bumped up against something else that hadn't been there moments ago. Taking it out of his pocket, he saw that it was a watch that fit neatly into the palm of his hand. Unsure of this new development, he pocketed the watch for now and, after drawing out his wand, edged out of the station. The train was long gone now and he doubted it would return to pick him up so soon after dropping him off.
Looking around at his new surroundings, he spoke the only name he could think of that would be any use in this situation. "Professor Dumbledore?"

It hadn't even been two years since he'd seen this boy in a memory, but there was no real forgetting Tom. He reached up and absently rubbed his scar. It didn't hurt; he'd come to Ruby City just as he died-but-didn't-die. But it was still a bit unnerving to see him and not feel the associated pain.

He hesitated at that, head turning to focus on the small boy that had spoken. There was something familiar about him. Almost. For now though, a child holding a stick in hand, wielding that name, was enough to send the former potion's master to draw himself up and stalk over to stare down at him.
"Were this city anywhere near Hogwarts, he may answer. Until he decides to grace us with his presence," ah yes, appearance's sake, "he will likely seek us out. Your name, boy?" Not the nicest of greetings, but the tone is civil enough.

2. SHOPPING
3. THE PARK
wendigo more like wendi-YOOOOOOO
Honestly, he could probably do without ever fighting a wendigo ever, and ordinarily even if he saw one like this while picking his way through the park on his way toward the beach, he'd do something reasonably sensible like remaining still and letting it go about its business as opposed to making the first move or potentially taking an action that might draw its attention. So really, that's what he's entirely tempted to do now — just ignore it, find another way around, and don't harass the wendigo because shit like that never ends well.
The problem sets in when the sound of someone's voice in the tree draws both his attention and the wendigo's, and it suddenly occurs to him that there's someone up there, presumably treed, and —
...Yeah, no. That's not something he can just walk away from or take lightly.
So he shifts a little closer, appraising the distance that currently stands between the climbing wendigo and the atrociously-dressed sucker it's apparently treed, and briskly contemplates two possible solutions. One involves a struggle with a monster. The other involves a struggle with his memories.]
...
[Silently calling on Star Platinum, he shoves off and leaps into the air on Stand-enhanced legs, making a quick leap from a nearby tree into the branches of the one that the passerby is in, tensed and ready just in case the guy panics and starts to fall out of the tree on accident.]

Lisa Lisa | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Part II: Battle Tendency)
[ Ruby City.
Lisa Lisa knows enough about the world to know that there is no feasible way for her to end up here - wherever "here" is, somewhere seemingly off the maps but ripe with a sort of energy she can't quite put her finger on. Moments earlier she was preparing for a battle of life and death and yet here she is now, alone in the sense that neither friend nor foe seem to be present anymore.
She would think this was Kars' last cheap trick, but Lisa Lisa is smart and age hasn't taken away her common sense; this is more than jest. This is more than the Pillar Men could conjure up, stone or no stone.
So she drops the little poster she's ripped from the wall and makes her way into the city. Fearless, composed, as she should be.
Her first stop is the Obelisk. Towering above the other buildings in the general skyline, it's not difficult to miss at all and she finds herself standing a mere half metre from it, examining it closely.
There is silence, even when she presses her hands to it and...... Absolutely nothing happens. ]
... This feels wrong. [ Wrong, or different perhaps. Something about it feels askew, as if the stone's natural energies had been tainted by something more.
The sight of anyone just standing around examining the Obelisk might not be that unusual at all, but the woman doesn't know that yet. In fact, she knows very little - but if you're willing to point her in the right directions, you're most welcome. ]
b. video message
[ The first thing that pops up on the communicator is the figure of a woman in dark sunglasses and a signature red scarf sitting somewhere in a balcony high atop a building. Her face might not be familiar to most, but she behaves as if she's known this place for ages.
Outwardly at least, she doesn't seem intimidated by the strangeness of these events. ]
If you see Joseph Joestar- [ There's the slightest pause. Or Caesar Zeppeli, she wants to add, but a bitter reminder prevents her from doing so. ] - please let him know that is teacher has arrived and expects to see him as soon as possible.
[ That's all she says before the screen goes black. On her end, however, Lisa Lisa is struggling to still her racing heartbeat, unwilling to feed the twinge of uncertainty that tells her he's not here. ]
B
[This was unexpected; Kakyoin didn't recognize her, but obviously Jotaro's grandfather would have friends the rest of them hadn't met.]
[...Thank god Polnareff presumably didn't know her. Kakyoin had the strangest feeling that interaction would end in a lot of broken bones.]

Severus Snape | Harry Potter
A tall, less-than-attractive man dressed all in black with sallow skin and lank-black hair stepped off the train with his head held high and a disdainful look to his face. Severus Snape had just arrived in Ruby City, and was less than impressed.
And yet the current Headmaster (in name only) of Hogwarts knew his life had just been saved. Nagini's bite was no more, he didn't need to raise a hand to his neck to know it had somehow been healed in a way that should have been impossible without his awareness of a quick-thinking Mediwix where there had been none.
Only Harry Potter with his green green eyes.
He took a breath and stalked off the platform, pausing only to note the signs here and there. He wasn't entirely convinced he wasn't actually dead, for all the signs could say otherwise. There was no pain from that last violent attack. And no other evidence of it, as a subtle check of his person told him.
...So what the bloody hell was going on?

Rowena Ravenclaw - Harry Potter
[The video feed opens with Rowena adjusting the hood of her cloak as she takes in her surroundings. Her boot firmly taps on the wooden platform of the train station and she looks back at the train, still having her guard up. The feed is from the ground point of view as she's dropped it earlier. She mutters as she tries to right herself]
If this is one of Salazaar's tricks, then I'll have that snake's head on a platter!
[Her fine boot accidentally kicks at the watch and Rowena realizes that there are moving tapestries, tiny ones, in the water. Curious, she crouches down and stares at it]
What fine needlework is this?
no subject
This, um, this isn't his doing. Hello.
[He grins a bit.]
It's not a tapestry, actually. It's, um... [How exactly does one explain technology to someone from 1000 year ago, roughly speaking? ...idea! Good thing James and Sirius were such troublemakers, honestly.] It's a bit like a two-way mirror, so one may speak with someone else not in the room with them.

Aerith Gainsborough | FF7 Compilation| OTA
[The day had been lovely that morning, warm for this late in the year and sunny with just the barest hint of clouds in the sky. Aerith decided that today was probably the last time she'd be able to enjoy the sun on her skin and the sand under her toes.
Donning her cutest bathing suit and her dress over the top, the young woman headed to the beach, bag with towel and a few other necessities on her arm. After a few hours of sunning happily with a book, she started to doze. Until the sky suddenly opened up and started pouring down freezing rain.]
Oh no! [She's now huddled under a nearby tree, beach items hanging off her arms and book drenched.] And I was enjoying this book too.
[The Park]
[She'd been warned about the animals in the park, but Aerith has never been one to shy away from a place with nature so bursting to life. Of course, she has her staff and materia with her, but she was seriously hoping she wouldn't have to use it.
However, that growling behind her makes it very obvious that her hopes are nothing more than wishful thinking. She considers running but something tells her that will only make it worse. With a racing heart, she pulls out her staff and readies a fireball to lob at the creature.]
Beach
He pauses in his complaint when he notices someone caught out in the rain, and then stops in his tracks. Even in Paris in his time, bathing suits are far more modest. He shakes his head a little after just a moment and heads over.]

Takako Wakahisa | Original Character
[ Well if the totally confused look plastered all over Takako's face wasn't a clear indication of being new then him wandering around aimlessly definitely will be. He looks so confused and just...ah, what is happening?! He's so confused right now, please someone save him. He's not used to crowds and he's a bit too shy and awkward around humans to really ask things. So if you see a timid, ragged and unkempt looking young man wandering alone please save him.
He looks like he wants to ask something but he just...doesn't. ]
Scenario 4;
[ Whether you're just wandering about the street or just happen to be passing by you might get knocked into by a flurry of ragged and tattered clothing by a young looking boy. Takako was holding a bag of groceries in his arms when he happens to collide with your character. He looks worried, upset even, and scared? ]
I-I'm s-sorry! I. I w-wasn't paying a-attention! [ He'll bow profusely at that. He's normally not one to really falter like this, ah, what a complete embarrassment this is. Though his voice shakes and his eye is adverted he keeps his head bowed as if awaiting some sort of punishment? ] I'm s-sorry...
Scenario 5;
[ It doesn't normally bother him...his eye. But for whatever reason today is just not his day. The cloth he normally keeps it covered with is stained with blood and it hurts quite a lot actually. He might clutching at his eye with shaky hands as tries to stem the bleeding. The horrible scar underneath throbbing with pain that makes him gasp a little as he grips the side of his head. Ow. This hurts... ]
Scenario ?;
[ Wildcard me! I'm open towards anything and everything! :3 ]
scenario 4
His eyes narrow at how the boy sounds and is acting. He isn't angry with the boy, but he recognizes this sort of display.]

Solas | Dragon Age: Inquisition
[The train is strange, so strange. There's no method of travel like this in Thedas. There are the eluvians but they're rare and clearly that method of travel tended to be more convenient (in his opinion) than this.
Solas actually doesn't need the city magic to force him off the train when it comes to a stop, he gladly disembarks on his own and then looks around, curious. The signs tell him plenty.
This isn't Thedas, there are people here, he has some kind of magically device that allows him to communicate with others. At least he seems to have the basic idea though Solas isn't the happiest at being drawn away from Thedas when he really needs to be there. Still, he picks up the watch and flicks it open to examine it.
Interesting.
That's really all he can think. And then he figures out how to trigger a video.]
Ah. Hello. My name is Solas. Is it too much to hope for some members of the Inquisition to be here?

And there he is, standing there. Just. Standing there. Solas, in Ruby City.
It takes a lot of self restraint to not tackle the poor man. ]
Solas--By the Dread Wolf, is that you? Truly?
[ She does end up rushing to him, grabbing his arms. She has to touch him, to make sure he's real. Creators, she missed him. ]
