September Test Drive!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

[Hi there, future daughter-in-law.

Jonathan's learned a lot since arriving in the city. He's certainly had a lot of catching up to do with regards to technology, but he's making fairly steady progress. The most critical thing he's come to know, however, is that the Joestar bloodline continues past his honeymoon. And from his great-great-grandson, he's come to learn the names of those who would come after him. Joseph Joestar is one of them.

In a way, she almost sounds familiar, but it's a distant sensation compared to the jolt that name brings rushing through his body - when he hears it coming through the watch, he nearly trips and drops a pile of heavy history textbooks. It's an impromptu broadcast, to say the least. It starts in the middle of the library with a man who has never actually done anything like this before, who stares at his watch in confusion before actually starting to speak, clearly not completely sure how to approach this situation. He wants to ask questions. What is he like? Is he a good student? Does he even know who I am?

He wants to apologize, because he knows there's a very slim chance he'll ever be personally involved in Joseph's life, but he figures he should start with the basics. Introductions.]

As far as I know, madame, I'm afraid no one by that name is currently here. If you'd wish to speak to his grandfather, however...my name is Jonathan Joestar, and I would be more than happy to help you!

[ If there is something akin to an afterlife, Lisa Lisa hasn't deposited nearly as much faith in it as she would have liked to. Had circumstances been others, perhaps, but even in its grandeur and beauty the world has proved her that behind thick curtains there is still too much bitterness and too little forgiveness. Nonetheless, all this city is providing her with is more and more doubt. Of herself, of her sanity - of whether she's alive of dead.

Seeing Jonathan Joestar himself is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Maybe she is dead. Maybe her battle was all for naught. At least she's left with the impression that Joseph survived. ]

I know you, Jonathan Joestar. [ A beat. Lisa Lisa knows times were different; Jonathan was raised a gentleman and Erina never had enough of sharing stories about him, of sharing what few photographs were left for Lisa Lisa to see on the occasion she'd stay over.

And there was George, of course, and all of a sudden her heart sank in her chest. ]
Perhaps it would be best if we met face-to-face.

You--you do?

[That comes as a genuine shock to him - because while she sounds familiar, this woman's face is entirely new to him, and he can't recall where they could have possibly met before.

That doesn't mean he won't act like a gentleman towards her. She looks like a proper young lady, though he can't quite place what that strange piece of eyewear she's wearing is. Sunglasses haven't been invented yet.]

Forgive me, I cannot recall where we were previously introduced...but I suppose we can rectify all of that in person. I will try to find my way to you as soon as I can! If you have just arrived here, could you please describe some defining landmarks around you, so I'm able to get a better idea of your location?

[So far, all he's getting from the video feed is "balcony" and "sky." Not particularly helpful.]

It's. [ A pause- nay, hesitation, but she'd fail to admit to it. ] It's a very long story. We will be better off discussing it in person.

[ If this is even him and he's here. If it's not a trick... But no, it couldn't be. Lisa Lisa needs to make sure though, and her own morals prevent her from being so upfront over such an indirect means of communication. This pocket watch, whatever it might be... She has no idea who could be listening in on them.

Not to mention that at some point, one of them may need more emotional support than she'd like to think of. ]

I found my way into some sort of gambling lounge. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be much of a commotion in here at this hour, but if you know of a more private location I am not opposed to meeting there. [ ... ] Although I am new here and still finding my way around.

A gambling lounge?

[Not the most orthodox place to meet, but Jonathan won't object.]

Don't worry, I won't make you wander around the city on your own. I think I know where you are. On your way there, did you see a strange red obelisk?

[There's something about the way she carries herself that he finds curious - not intimidating, per say, but something that tells him what she wants to say is definitely serious.]

If it's alright, I'll meet you there. It's hard to miss, even if you're unfamiliar with the layout of the city.

I've examined it briefly. I'm sure I know where it is.

[ It has a strange energy; Lisa Lisa isn't particularly sure what to make of it just yet, but she figures she'll learn in time. He's right that it's hard to miss it though; it was one of the first things that she saw even from the train station, however if it was meant as some sort of monument it seems to be missing some sort of memorial.

She stands; he may find that she's not wasting any time here, already moving towards what can only be assumed to be the door. ]

It shouldn't take me more than a couple of minutes to get there. Hopefully I won't keep you waiting.

[The obelisk is something he's started to study intently - as an archaeologist, it was too strange for him to pass up. He supposes he has an affinity for the particularly strange remnants of past civilizations, so he's taken notes as comprehensively as he possibly can. Knowing it well is sure to prove an asset, even if it's just as something to use for a landmark.]

I'll be there as quickly as I can, madame! Don't let me keep you waiting.

[Such a thing would be terrible for a gentleman to do, anyway, and since she seems to be taking the initiative, it's only right for him to get up and go. He'll shut the feed off to spare her the awkwardness, but he's fairly quick to reach the city center, glancing around for a woman with red lips and peculiar eyewear.]
