TEST-DRIVE MEME

Maybe you've considered appping a new character but you're not sure how well they would adjust to the in-game scenario? Well, here's a chance to give it a try!
• Post with a character journal you'd like to voicetest or you've considered apping to Ruby City. Feel free to play them as newcomers or as if they've been here for a while - the setting is your own choice.
•Respond to other threads with new characters or with characters who are already in the game.
• Explore different interactions, find castmates, develop possible CR - anything you want, as long as you have fun!
Mavis Dracula | Hotel Transylvania
Hello? Dad? Uncle Frankenstien? Uncle Wayne?
...Johnny?
B/c why not
Did they drop you off here too, m'am?
[Pulling her jacket tight about her, Katherine is sure not to get too close. Not everyone who doesn't look threatening is in fact, well, not.]
because cutes
Uh...yeah. Um, you're not going to attack me are you?
no subject
[Not that she has any weapons. But if she thinks of what North would do, she's sure she'll come out of this fine.]
I don't know who you are, but I'll have you know that the Bandit King has been teaching me. But, I'd very much like to make an amiable meeting instead.
[Grey eyes fixed on Mavis, Katherine folds her arms, trying to stand tall.]
no subject
Sorry, it's just...my first time meeting humans didn't go so well. My name's Mavis.
no subject
My name's Katherine. But... If you aren't human, then what are you? Are you from the moon? Or perhaps from where Nightlight is from, from the palaces of the Golden Age or are you perhaps like the spirit that guards our woods?
[With a bit of a frown, Katherine inspects Mavis-- who to her, looks human enough.]
You don't look very much like our spirit, though.
no subject
Actually, I'm a vampire.
no subject
Mavis didn't seem too frightening at all.]
Is that... so?
[Well, she'd simply have to learn about Mavis, and that would answer all her questions. Another story to tell, just waiting to happen. Perhaps she'd done very right by staying at the station after all.]
Then, I'm sorry if I had frightened you very much.
no subject
[It probably hadn't been fair on her, and if anything, her dad had always taught her to be polite, neurotic tendencies that he had. She had no idea about the way humans saw vampires, just that they found them to be menacing beasts when really they were just like everyone else. She shuffled a little awkwardly, rubbing at her arm before going back to the earlier question.]
So I guess that means that this place isn't the castle after all. No human has ever set foot inside our hotel, so you're new here too?
no subject
[With a bit of a sigh, Katherine looks around and pushes the hair out of her hood.]
I don't understand where I am at all. I was with my friend-- the bandit King-- but then I woke up on that contraption, and this place is nothing like anything I've ever imagined.
[Katherine can't help but spin around slowly as she looks again, bewildered.]
Ombric had imagined and made most everything in our village but I have never seen a place like this. I'm afraid that if you were looking for information, I can't help very much at all.
no subject
Then I guess that means we'll have to stick together. We're both in the same boat, so we might as well keep each other company.
no subject
It's best not to travel alone. There can be fearlings, perhaps, but I haven't seen any.
[And she was very glad for that. Perhaps this was a world Pitch had not dared enter.
She offers her hand to Mavis, smiling herself.]
Someone has to be around who knows what this place is.
no subject
[She takes the offered hand with a small curtsey, tilting her head. It was nice to know she at least had a friend in this new place. Not that she'd had a friend before that wasn't one of her numerous uncles. Still, it'd be nice to have someone her own age...or, at least close to her maturity.]
no subject
[Katherine seems quite surprised.]
They and the Nightmare Knights are the warriors of the Nightmare King Pitch. I was helping North-- that's why I have to get back home, because if I don't, then I can't make sure that Pitch doesn't... well, win.
no subject
[The Nightmare King? Mavis raised an eyebrow, looking a little bewildered and confused. She knew one of her dad's nicknames in the old days was the King of the Night, but that didn't sound right.]
Wow. So does that mean you get to travel?
no subject
[Katherine sighs, pouting just a little.]
They were going to go without me. But they got in trouble, because the mechanical Djinni Nicholas had made-- well, Pitch had slipped inside of it and possessed it, so that he could walk in the light without harm! And when Ombric had led them to the place he wanted Pitch to believe the Moon Clipper's ruins were, Pitch cast spells of servitude on them.
--But I shouldn't keep you here with a story if we're looking for information, I'm sorry.
no subject
[Just like a novel! A dashing hero, a villain, mysteries! Mavis tucked her arms behind her back, smiling a little.]
It's more than I'd ever get to do at least. My dad's...a little overprotective.
Not even the Alucard apping here, but I couldn't resist.
CLOSE ENOUGH TO HER DAD, I GUESS?[And this wasn't that ghost ship, or the Hellsing manor for that matter. My, what happened again? Yes, he remembered. He had been fighting Nazis, then he was on the train-- though, even as a Nosferatu, his memory was foggy.
Well, what was this? A girl strolling around during the night. Though something was telling him she wasn't just a girl either. He allowed a smile to cross his lips, though crooked-- it was the friendliest one the vampire could manage.]
Are you lost, little one?
[Odd question, as he didn't know where he was himself. Though, maybe walking with her may lead him to his Master soon enough.]
...this is beautiful and I had no idea I wanted it
So when he speaks, she turns around to look at him, a small sigh of relief leaving her when she realized that it wasn't a human. She gave him a smile, tucking her hands behind her back.]
Ah, yeah. I just got off the train and I'm pretty sure this isn't part of the hotel.
