[Suddenly, he's choking and spluttering on what was a composure-saving sip of tea.]

[It really didn't matter how much sense it made, because Minako didn't give it enough thought before she nearly dropped her tea-cup.]

[She blinked owlishly. Maybe she deserved a bit of that.]

[She feigns a pout, rather obviously. The smile alone was worth the bit of embarrassment, but he'd managed to actually strike her dumb.]

[She peeks up from behind her bangs, sitting back up in her chair and taking her cup of tea to hide behind.]

[His tone is joking, dismissive... but he's not talking about cake, and he's not really joking. Why she's got any interest in him at all is not only a mystery, but something suspicious, something he can't help but question. It just doesn't make sense.]
