ACTIVITY CHECK -- PRELIMINARY RESULTS
Below is the list of all characters that did not check in for this month's Activity Check covering the dates:
Janury 26, 2012 - March 5, 2012
Players who missed checking in may reclaim their characters here. This post will remain open for three (3) days and close at 11:59 PM CST on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. At that time, characters not claimed will be considered dropped, removed from lists and considered open for others to apply for.
The Following Rules Apply:
✗ Characters reclaimed on this post MUST be reclaimed by their player.
✗ If your characters met activity during the applicable period, please provide a link to the activity proof.
✗ Characters reclaimed on this post who do not currently meet activity must post double activity for next month's activity check.
Full rules for Activity and Activity Checks can be found on the rules page.
If you feel that any of the list below is on this list in error (if we overlooked a comment on the original Activity Check post or missed an announced hiatus), please respond here and let us know! We're all human, and we all make mistakes. Any player may respond to inform us of this sort of error, regardless of whether or not they play the character in question.

Anyway Loki's first post was on the 28th of Feb - here
and even though it's not within your time frame, he's also reposted on the 8th of March - here
Sorry for the delay but only got the heads up from England a few minutes ago.

Here's a quick paste so you don't have to go looking it up:
A good thing to do is make sure you keep up with the OOC comm as well as the IC community. I know this can all be a bit overwhelming when you're new to a community, and I'm sure the mods understand too. Overall it's not a big deal. No harm no foul, right? :)
I'm not a mod but I'd be happy to help you get familiar with game mechanics if you aren't already.

Spending forever trying to write a 'worthy' application that could be turned down anyway because of one little thing is slightly demeaning and then to find out that you have to 'check in' every month or else the application that you had just wasted hours on becomes null and void - sure, that's no harm at all.
I've been in App games before and never once have I had to 'check in' to basically see if I was still alive, a polite PM from a mod or another playing to see if I was alright was all it took and it's not as if people don't have lives outside of the internet or live in different countries where the time zones are different, making it possible for people to miss out on silly, stupid things like this.
And shouldn't the mods be watching the rp threads, re-checking everyday to see if someone on their list has posted after the deadline?

The application process is the same in all games I've been in. I could give examples, but I don't see the point. The rules were available to you when you applied, and you should have read them. I'm not arguing that RL> RP. I know RL is more important, as I've had my own experiences.
If you have a problem with the way something is run, you're welcome to bring it up to the mods on the suggestion page. This notice isn't meant to embarrass or shame players, it's a friendly reminder. All told, players have about a week to respond to activity check with no repercussions at all. To be honest, this activity check is lax compared to most.

It is to prevent character squatting, where a player who does not play said character holds on to them even though they may not tag or thread. This then closes off the opportunity to someone else who may wish to apply and play with that character actively. It is important to hold Activity Checks so that the game does not become one that is filled with inactive characters.
These "silly stupid things" occur regularly, and are scheduled for each month, barring odd circumstances (for example, the move from Livejournal to Dreamwidth). This game has operated on this system for well over a year now. Activity checks are by far the standard practice in most community games here on Dreamwidth and previously on Livejournal. The first round of our Activity Check was opened for 4 full days, and this second chance round is open for an additional 4. Time zones and life aside, if you have time to play you have time to check in on the required activity posts. If a player is out of town or otherwise not available, they are free to set themselves on hiatus -- which exempts them from replying to the activity check.
It is, in fact, not the moderator's job to scour threads for activity for each and every character. It is up to players to know their own activity and to respond in a timely fashion to the activity checks as the games rules specify. Unfortunately, we too have lives outside of RP and even between us we do not have time to keep up with every single post and thread a player and their character does.
Furthermore, the application process exists to try to maintain a level of quality in both the writing and the characterization in the community as a whole. We're sorry if you feel it is demeaning that we try to establish standards and hold applications to these standards. Again, these practices are all part of how the community operates and has operated for a long time now. Choosing to join a community means abiding by its rules.
In order to deal with issues and drama that come up, the moderators here operate on a system of warnings similar to the rule in baseball -- three and you're out. We are issuing a warning to you here both because of your attitude towards the basic rules of the community as well as rudeness towards another player who was simply trying to help explain things. If you have a grievance in the future, submit it to the suggestions page rather than taking it out on another player. We are also freezing this thread, so if there is anything further, you may take it to the aforementioned place.

AND OH. I think Ixaix is in the middle of moving so she's probably not got a lot of access to the computer right now? I don't think she's on hiatus but I thought I'd mention it.

Can you please explain to me why I'm even on here? *feels completely confused*

While you know you were still playing, we as moderators do not have time to track down each and every character's activity -- especially since activity at RC can also include threads in other people's posts. Therefore players are required to respond to the Activity Check as is outlined in the rules of the game.
