[That's cool, it's usually a fleeting thing anyway. On most occasions, as soon as her Strider opens his mouth, she finds herself wishing she could just superglue it closed. However it does occur to her that this is still Dave, Dirk's Dave, but not his Dirk, her Dirk--

That would be great, thank you. Um-- I mean, so long as I'm not imposing? And I warn you you may need an extra room. Looks like I didn't come alone. [She knows he's probably got an idea of who she's talking about.]

Would you mind giving me a better explanation of what's going on here? Once I'm there, of course. The pamphlets helped, but I don't think I'm okay with staying this deep in the dark about our current predicament, you know?

Unless you'd like to make this a one-on-one sort of thing. [She smiles and it's truly sincere, even if she does still seem pretty anxious about it.] Whichever is good for you.

Wha, you mean Old Dave? A few words may've been exchanged, yeah.

[He shrugs a little bit. There's no need to mention how surprised and confused he was by it - not everyone needs to know how dumb he is.]

[He broke the infamous Bro Strider pokerface.]

[He thought he'd gotten used to seeing Bro, a man about the same age that Dirk would have been if the meteors had come on time, and feeling an ache right in the guardian emotions by simple dint of the fact that Bro is a Dirk Strider. But hell, he didn't think he'd see him again. Specially not so soon.]

[That's a weird name for a cat - or at least, what he's assuming to be a cat. For all he knows it could be some kind of Eldritch abomination from the furthest reaches - he is talking to a Lalonde after all.]

We've got a genuine McMansion up in here, enough rooms for the whole Stri-Lal clan plus any bespectacled and/or bucktoothed, behatted, or whatever the fuck friends who come along, all built with patented Strider elbow grease, stays strong to last long.

Tell you what, for the sake of my sanity, just gimme the bullet list, I'll draw my own conclusions.

[All these mutual Guardian Emotions. This guy's probably twice his age, but he's still Dave and the last time Bro saw Dave... Well the situation wasn't exactly all that great.]

'Bout the game and shit, I'm from the universe that came after yours. The one that we created to start over from scratch. Basically, Rosie and me were supposed to be guardian to lil'Rox and lil' you, respectively. You may have met my Dirk.
Here in the city, we got ourselves two varieties of Dave. There's me, and then there's Davesprite. The city doesn't care about universes, or whether or not you snuffed it back home, we all get dragged here one way or another.

Also, consider this an invitation to a room at Casa Stri-Lal if you want it.

We might as well just bring our Striders with us.

I'm fairly certain mine is trying to find me right now. If I shake him to tell him I'm going to have drinks with my mom-child he'll probably try to give me puppy eyes and I will tell him "No," and then five minutes later he'll conveniently show up with Dave in tow, claiming coincidence.

Because that's simply how Dirk Strider works.

So, we might as well just avoid that entire debacle and save our one-on-one for later. [SIGHS. MEN. Honestly.]

[He gives a replying flippant salute, clips the watch shut, shoves it into his pocket and heads out. It barely takes thirty seconds to get to the station from across the city, and he sets his foot down on the platform fresh out of a flashstep, thumbs hooked through his belt loops.

Dirk stops a couple of metres away from Bro, tilting his chin up slightly.]

... Yo.

Yeah.. you get all the joys of the place plus a complete mind-wipe when you leave. Real fuckin' considerate.

[Please do stop looking at him like that. Rose looks at him like that.]

... What. Have I got somethin' on my face?

[Oh no, she's smiling a little now. Because that's exactly how Striders of all flavors are.]

And Dave would play right along with him because that's simply how Dave Strider works.

Saving our one-on-one might be a better course of action with our personal Striders clinging to our skirts.

As kitties are wont to do.

[He grins a little bit. Cats are pretty rad.]

[Bro adjusts his shades and un-tightens his jaw, raises his eyebrows thoughtfully.]

Dang, sounds like a real party. Where's this place at? I could use a little Stri-Lal interaction.
