Canon Update Plus Mini-Hiatus
Given that there are about 40 collective novels in Discworld, it's only inevitable that Death be updated once in a blue moon to encompass the novels I have been relentlessly devouring. What this means is that every few novels or so that involve our favorite Grim Reaper, I will be putting him into a catacomb coma for a few days.
Starting Sunday, Death will not be around, but temporarily sent back home so that his memories will include having gone through all the published Discworld novels up to and including Jingo. What this includes is a humorous and heartwarming conversation with Granny Weatherwax in which Death willingly throws a game of cards to save the life of a baby, acting as the Hogfather (Discworld's answer to Santa Claus) in order to preserve belief in him, newfound respect and adoration for his now young adult granddaughter, disposing of the body of an assassin that nearly killed him with his own sword, and overseeing the ultimately uneventful battle between five armies on the continent hosting the Agatean Empire.
He is also now a distinct fan of cats to the point where I will likely be giving him one, leaving only Rosalind as my character sans a pet.
His snark is also getting worse. Also, I forgot to mention in his application that Death likes curry. I might need to get someone to make him some. OH! And he made a relatively successful and very sweet Hogswatch card for his granddaughter. It was well-received.
Anyway, he'll be back next Wednesday and I hope you all like what comes stumbling out of the catacombs!
