I don't really have a fitting picture for this.

G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

• Post with your character with their name and canon on top!


• Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.

1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.


2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?


3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!


4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.


5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.


6. The Coffee Joint: Run by James Potter and Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.


7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.


2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.


3. Inclimate weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

[The Elvenking had chosen to walk quietly and explore this strange city, so unlike the kingdoms of Men that had been built and fallen throughout his long life.

He still wore a crown of leaves and berried on his head and carried an oaken staff as well as the sword at his hip. When he looked to Elena, he remained quiet for a long moment while he looked her over. In that short time, he contemplated whether or not to claim to be lost or otherwise. Even though, in a manner of speaking, he was. The city was foreign, as was the train, and the people dressed strangely.]

[Thorin's brows knitted together, as he looked upon a most unwelcome sight. The Elvenking. Was he now within the city, also snatched away from his home and kin? Thorin had to compose himself before letting the words roll from his tongue, his mood bitter.]

It doesn't seem like the city is picky as to whom it chooses.

[He looks to Thorin, one brow going up curiously. It seems as though the dwarf knows him but Thranduil can't claim to have seen him before now. Strange that he'd speak to the king with such familiarity. The elves have a long memory. Memory that never faded with time and he's sure that he'd remember being acquainted with a specific dwarf.]

Perhaps it is not but it is foolish to take a king from his people.

[Hey wait. You actually do look kind of familiar Thorin. Didn't the elves capture you in his forest?]

Perhaps not. It seems both of us are in the same predicament, alas we cannot change our fates. The train does not care if it takes elf or dwarf within it's clutches. I seek to find whomever did this to me and show them what it means to anger a dwarf. [Because dwarf king kidnapping is wrong in any shape or form.]

It is not just kings which the train takes, elvenking. Others have also been taken from their lands. [Right now, have a good long glare because Thorin doesn't like you. Nope. Sorry.]

He knows that the dwarves wouldn't take particularly well to having been imprisoned but he didn't expect such an pointed glare directed towards him now, when the reason for their being here was not his doing. And he knows that their races do not get along, which Thranduil has no reason to attempt to remedy.

At least he gave some form of respect by referring to him by title.]

You speak of unchanging fates as though you have accepted this.

[He may not trust dwarves but he knows them to be more stubborn than that. And his tone may come off as slightly mocking but he keeps his composure, speaking only of how he interprets it.]

[Was the train now choosing others from his world to place into the city? First Bilbo, then him and now the elvenking. Who would be next? Perhaps, another from his company or something worse such as an orc or goblin. Or another elf]

I have to accept that there may be no possible way of getting out of this place. Nay, I have not given up by any means, as I do believe that no one can hold anyone captive forever. A dwarf's heart is strong and I will break free to re join my company. For the moment, escape is something that does not come freely. You shall do well to know this, elvenking.

[He does not trust you at all, since you left him in his eyes. The dragon problem just got a whole lot worse.]

Then, you should remember the path you crossed many years ago when you abandoned my folk to Smaug. I have not forgotten.

As far as I know there is no way to leave this city. Yet, we cannot remain here indefinitely. [Have another long glare, elven king. This dwarf means what he says and he will not be a pawn in the city's grasp forever. He had a quest to complete.]

Aye, Smaug. Do not jest with me, elvenking. You were high atop your elk watching the scene unfold before your eyes. My kingdom was burning, when you took your legions of elven soldiers and marched away. [Never associated? You mean you never bothered to help, when you knew the dwarves needed help.]

[And this elf has an entire realm depending upon him. A realm of his people that he puts before the well-being of anyone in this city, including the dwarf.]

And why would I have reason to jest regarding a dragon? Why should I have a care for dwarves of a kingdom so far from my own or for matters that concern us little?

[Hmph.]

Although you've a sharp mind if you know what course of action I'd have taken. To risk the lives of my people against the wrath of a dragon for a fallen kingdom would have been pure foolishness.
