G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

[The girl looks around, after getting off the train. She's dressed in a school uniform but she's looking somewhat distant. As if she's thinking about something else entirely. Then, in a moment, she seems to realize she's not supposed to be here.

She's not exactly happy, in fact she now looks somewhat annoyed but not full blown angry. Yet.]

Have you just arrived, young lady?

[She doesn't mean to be so sudden, but Saber has been working as a part of the 'welcoming committee' on-and-off recently. Which... obviously means she must approach those who arrive.]

a true hero of justice is always knightly!

["Young lady"? She turns at the voice, frowning some more. It sounds kind of old fashioned coming from this lady.]

Guess I have--wherever here is.

Then the King of Knights shall protect a hero of justice!

I see. If you'll allow me, I can explain what I know of this place to you. I am Sir Pendragon-- [She spares her title, unsure of what repercussions telling a little blue-haired-girl you're a king will have]-- Of Britain.

May I ask your name?

[Sayaka normally has no idea about anything.]

Sir Pendragon, huh? I guess I can listen to what you have to say. [Well, they still knight people over in Britain so that's okay. Explains the old-fashioned greeting, too.]

Me? I'm not a knight or anything but the name's Sayaka Miki. [Western order for the British person, of course.] I'm still confused about this whole thing, though.

Then, Lady Miki... Or shall I call you just "Sayaka"?

[She turns her attention to the train station and the city behind them, as if gesturing.]

This is Ruby City. It's a city somehow connected between worlds and times, and commands people to it from all stretches of the universe.

The best hero of justice, yes

[She waves a hand, a bit embarrassed.] Sayaka's fine.

[Wow... A real knight, huh? Or well, someone who's been knighted. It's all the same to Sayaka. She listens and--] Huh? Is that even possible?

[It kind of sounds like a witch's barrier to her.] Is there any way to leave or something?

Sayaka, then. [And cue a gentle smile.]

It would seem there is, but not by anyone's own will. I believe we're sent home by... whoever has brought us here, I suppose. Unfortunately, there's such limited information...

[Cue a very small blush.]

That's... really not good. We have to find out more!

As I mentioned, I can explain a bit of, say... mechanics. How things work about the city... unfortunately, as for how to pass or return, there is no available information. Those who have brought us here have made quite the effort to restrict what we can learn.

Huh. That just means whoever did it doesn't want us to return. That makes them a bad guy.

[She sounds very sure of herself.] That doesn't mean people have stopped trying, right?

Or they may be in need of aid themselves. They have done nothing honourable in obtaining it, but it is still a possibility. [Recent events did suggest...]

And you are correct. There are still those making an effort to research and to escape.

[Well, who knows. They can still get home maybe..]

Couldn't we get a train and just go the other way?

[ Madoka, strolling by the station as is her custom on the weekends, starts and stops dead in her tracks when she sees the blue-haired figure a few hundred feet away; so achingly familiar that she recognises it almost on sight, would recognise it anywhere, anywhen. she feels hope rise to a new height within her, along with a goodly measure of joy; could it be--?

there's no way to tell what timeline she's from, how much she knows, if she'll even know Madoka. but as she draws closer, sees that's she's right, it really is her, her beloved Sayaka-chan, she breaks into a sprint. she hopes at least that the captors pulled Sayaka here from a point in any timeline when she's happy, before all the truly awful things started happening, and if not-- well, if not, then at least Madoka is here.

she bowls into Sayaka both as if she hasn't seen her in years (which is true) and as if they've only been apart minutes (which is also true), calling out. ]

Sayaka-chan! It really is you!

[ hope you enjoy enthusiastic glomps, Sayaka. ]

[Sayaka's looking around the train station. she hears the running footsteps before she she hears the shout so she turns around on heels in an instant, her school uniform vanishing in a moment to be replaced by her magical girl outfit. it had to be a witch--or something worse--in a place like this and--]

Madoka?! [Madoka slams into Sayaka with a hug. she stumbles a back a bit at the force of the glomp but she laughs out of relief, hugging her back. she's so glad she didn't draw a weapon yet and glad that she can see a familiar face] Madoka... I'm really glad to see you, too.

[wait...did this mean whatever took Sayaka took Madoka, too? of course it did. Sayaka's grip around Madoka tightens. she's not going to let something more to happen to her.] I'm sorry I didn't get her sooner.

[ Madoka feels almost giddy with how happy she is. Sayaka remembers her. part of her notes that she felt the rush of magic and the tug of Sayaka's soul gem - she'll have to keep an eye on her then, quietly keep her gem purified if she can - but she doesn't care because her best friend, the one she remembers so well from so many timelines and worlds, is here and real. and if they're both trapped, at least they're together, and at least Madoka knows a little of how this place works now. she's so happy she could dance from it.

she pulls back slightly to get a look at Sayaka's face, brushing her hair behind her ear and beaming. ] Oh no, please don't worry about it! I mean, I've really missed you, but I've really been fine. Besides, it's not like any of us can control when we come here.

[knightlyrondo]

[maybe Madoka being here isn't the greatest thing. she should be safe with her family back in Mitakihara but was Mitakihara safe without any magical girls protecting it? that...wasn't a thought Sayaka wanted to dwell on.

she pulls Madoka closer again, leaning downwards to rest her head on her shoulder. she doesn't want to let Madoka go. to let whoever brought them here have a chance at her again.] Well, I'm here now. I'm here and I'm not going to let anything get you while I'm here, okay? Everything's going to be alright now.

[sagittaspei]

Mm, I believe you.

[ not that Madoka was ever not alright to begin with, really - she certainly doesn't sound very distressed. but she keeps quiet on that, turning some things over in her mind. Sayaka will be harder to deal with than Homura, in some ways. Homura already knew about the loops, and they'd come from the same point in time, more or less. Sayaka though... she's clearly from much further behind.

she'll figure it out. ]

So, I guess you must have come here from after you contracted with Kyubey, huh? [ difficult to refer to him as "Kyubey" and not "the Incubator", but for now, she must. she's seen what happens, in countless timelines, when Sayaka discovers the truth without anything there to soften the blow. ]

[knightlyrondo]

[she just keeps her grip on Madoka, firm but not too tight. she doesn't sound too badly shaken--not like the time when Sayaka saved both her and Hitomi from the Box Witch but... Sayaka doesn't want to let go of her. it's silly but she doesn't want Madoka to figure out that she's afraid that she won't see her again if she lets go.]

I just contracted, yeah. I guess you didn't have much time to process it after I saved both you and Hitomi. [that this place took Madoka so soon after the witch did...]

[sagittaspei]

Ah, well, actually... [ she laughs into Sayaka's shoulder, her breath making the other girl's hair flutter slightly. ] This is going to sound really weird to you, but I'm from a little further in the future than you are. Somehow, the captors here are able to pull people from different points in time as well as different worlds.

[knightlyrondo]

That does sound weird. [she grips her even tightly. this place sounded even worse than a witch. a pause then..] Does that mean--that it might... [she didn't want to voice this thought. even as she speaks there's a break in her voice.] It might bring Mami-san...? [she doesn't add in 'back' but the word is clearly hanging in the air.]

[sagittaspei]

[ it can't be seen, but Madoka has a soft, sad smile. there's a pause before she speaks, nodding. ] Mm. It might do, maybe. It's really impossible to know who will arrive next, but... [ an exhale of breath. ] People have been brought here... from after they died, too.

[knightlyrondo]

...I don't know what I'd say to her if she did show up. [that she took her place? ask if Mami was proud of her? she...didn't know.] I'm so glad I found you, though.

[sagittaspei]

I wouldn't really know what to say to her, either. But... I'm really glad you're here, too. I mean, being trapped isn't really much fun, but it's so good to see you!

You can depend on me! It doesn't matter what kinds of things are here.. I'll take care of it.
