RC Test Drive!

I don't really have a fitting picture for this.

G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.

Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.

Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

The Coffee Joint: Run by Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.

Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.

Inclement weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

[Library]

No.. no.. no.. Ugh!

[Book after book is pulled from the library shelves only to be left open on the floor. Frustrated, Twilight bumps her forehead against one of the lower shelves, then slowly looks up.

Right in front of her, is the book she's looking for! At least, the one she thinks she's looking for.]

Oh! [Her horn glows as she lifts it free of the shelf, opening it in front of her. She can't believe they actually have books from Equestria here, and from the Canterlot library, no less.]

Dammit dammit dammit!

_{[A hideous creature stumbles its way into the library because Ruby City seems to have come down with a terrible case of SUDDEN DOWNPOURS and here he is without a raincoat or umbrella. He only has so many Luck Tickets and he doesn't want to waste them on a stupid cold.]

[The thin man glances around. Library. Huh. Maybe they had cook books.]

[Blink.]

[Or purple horses...He just kind of watches Twilight, unsure if she's a bloodthirsty creature that stumbled into the town or if she came by train.]}

[Seeming quite happy with the book she found, Twilight stays where she is, her horn continuing to glow as she flips through the pages. Eventually, she sets it down, and begins putting the other books back on the shelves.

Can't leave a library in a mess, after all! That really wouldn't do.

A few moments later, she pauses and looks around, and her eyes fall on JW.]

... Is something wrong with your eye?

_{[JW's going to staaaaaaare okay he's done now. The tall man frowns and shakes the rain out of his hair like an oversized dog.]}

Yeah, I caught a case of the uglies. I'd stay back if I were you, purple horse, it's catching.

I have a name. It's Twilight. Twilight Sparkle.

[But she does step back a little. If he says it's catching, then it might be, and she doesn't want to look like that!]

Maybe I can help you! I know a lot of magic spells...

_{[JW instantly regrets his previous decision and throws his hands up.]}

No! No, no, don't--don't trouble yourself. It's cool, pur-- Twilight.

_{[Magic do not want.]}

Are you sure?

[She takes a couple of steps forwards, looking at him curiously.]

It won't hurt. [Maybe.]

_{[For every step the unicorn takes, JW takes one backward toward the downpour.]}

Absolutely! Aaahh it's. It was a joke.

_{[Might as well come clean. Why did he always have to run his mouth in the presence of dangerous creatures?]}

Oh... [She squints a little, tilting her head to one side.]

It wasn't a very funny joke.

Yeeeah I'm not much of a comedian.

_{[Once he's sure she isn't about to magic him ANYWAY, he lets his eyes wander to the shelf labels.]}

Just lookin' for a cook book.

Oh. [Y'no, he does look a little like how Discord might if he turned into one of these strange 'human' creatures, now she thinks of it...]

I saw some cook books when I was looking around.

Yeah? What shelf were they--Nevermind.

_{[The one right in front of him with the BIG BOLD LETTERS. He picks one out at random and retreats away from the side of the library occupied by the purple horse of death. He totally could have died just then.]}

[Having heard the pony make a bit of racket while searching for the book, Katherine headed to the source of the sound.]

Are you alright? Did you need hel--oh!

[...Well, she certainly wasn't expecting to see a little purple pony.]

[The book lifts up, and Twilight peers underneath it.]

Hello!

[She looks around, and grimaces faintly at the mess.]

Oh, dear.

U-um. I could help with that, if you need any...?

[That... is a talking purple pony. Well then. It's rude to stare, so Katherine looks at the books instead, before kneeling down to pick up a few.]

Oh, it's alright! [A faint, pink-purple glow surrounds some of the books on the floor, and she lifts them up to slot them back into place.]

I really need my own library, but this one is so big.

[Excuse Katherine while she stares a bit wide-eyed.]

Y-you know magic! [She's impressed.] Wait.. Your own library? You live in a library?

[A tiny talking horse living in a library. That sounds like a story.]

Of course I know magic! [Of course.

She looks around the library and lets out a longing little sigh.]

I did, in Ponyville, but while I'm here I'm living with Fluttershy. Still, I can't make myself stay away, it's so exciting to have so many new books to read.

I know magic, too. Not anything like what you did.

Ponyville, huh? [Katherine beams before remembering her manners.]

Oh-- I'm Katherine. It's, um, nice to meet you.

[The Earth Pony still had no clue what was going on here, but she saw a sign that said Library and she figured that would be the best place to find one of her friends. That is, if they were here as well.

She slowly walks around and then hears a familiar voice.]

Twilight!

[And as quickly as she dares, she darts around and finds the unicorn.]

Twilight! Yer here!

Applejack!

[She leaves the books where they are to meet the Earth pony, a wide smile on her face and a spring in her step. It's been lonely here without all of her friends, even with the number of distractions she's been able to occupy her time with.]

It's so good to see you! When did you get here?

Well well well...doesn't it just make sense? You ending up in a library of all places? Equestria or not, it doesn't really matter. You'll always be a proper bookworm, won't you my dear Twilight Sparkle?

[Ahh, his voice is close, but seems to echo across the entire library. Just because he's reformed and therefore less dangerous doesn't mean he's any less flashy. Discord has always had a flair for the dramatic, and is currently lounging over the top of one of the shelves some distance from Twilight, a pair of large, ridiculously elegant glasses complete with chain settled on his muzzle. He appears to be reading a text of his own, probably nothing quite as interesting as what Twilight Sparkle's come across.

He won't be hard to find, so long as you're looking!]

Long time no see!

[Her hair stands on end, a cold shiver bristling up her back as she turns in place. She's looking, and it's hard to miss him, especially in those ridiculous glasses.]

Discord. [The princess says he's reformed, and Fluttershy likes him, but that doesn't mean Twilight is going to trust him! No, sir.]

What do you want?

[He snaps his talons, and everything he has is gone. Suddenly he's no longer on that bookshelf but a few feet from Twilight Sparkle, floating just a little bit above her.]

Come now, why must I want something? I don't want anything at all. I'm just here, same as you! Maybe I just wanted to do a little reading, isn't that what you do in a library?

[She steps back a little, looking up at him suspiciously.]

What are you up to this time? [No, she doesn't believe he's reading just for reading's sake...]
