RC Test Drive!

I don't really have a fitting picture for this.
G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.
Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations:
- Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.
- Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?
- The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!
- The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.
- The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.
- The Coffee Joint: Run by Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.
- Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.
Scenarios
- Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.
- Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.
- Inclement weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?
- Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!
Have fun, guys!
Erwin Smith | Attack on Titan
[He almost feels at a loss here. There's so little to do. Compared to the near-constant stress and trial of home, it's eerily quiet. It should relax him, but it puts him on edge, as often as not. He's not a man used to peace.
Yet he might as well take advantage of the limitless food and ample leisure time, which is why he's here in the saloon, enjoying a hamburger and a beer. The food is quite good. Not that he experiences deprivation, as a high-ranking officer, but it's difficult to get used to the fact that there's no dearth or want.
He leans back comfortably in his chair, but not one to be idle, he pauses every now and then to write in a notebook with one of the pens he's taken to carrying with him.]
B: Clocktower and around town:
[He's up early in the morning, every morning. He's made a study of the town and its defenses, or lack thereof. He walks to the edge of the city and stands gazing out at the plains for a time, then makes his way up to the top of the Clocktower, for a better view. He can see so far from there. Open countryside and the forest beyond. All strangely quiet. It makes him curious. He wants to go farther than he can see, feels almost a need to go. He's heard that at the end of it all there's simply nothing, but he'd like to witness that for himself. The problem is getting there. ]
C: The library:
[There are so many books here, but none about the city itself. That was frustrating, at first, but Erwin had soon realized that the books that are available are fascinating enough in their own way. They touch on a multitude of subjects, many of which he's never even heard of before. He walks among the shelves, picking up titles at random, and leafing through them, fascinated. There's so much, he almost doesn't know where to begin.
He picks up an atlas--not from this world, but likely from some other--and stares down at the colored maps, drawing a fingertip slowly along a coastline, studying the jagged division of blue and green.]

And the one who has intruded on Erwin's curiosity and reading is none other than Hange, wearing the utmost of intense expressions. She says nothing. She does nothing. She simply looks levelly at him, as if presenting him with the information will convey exactly what she's thinking. What is running through her mind is a number of things, but it should be obvious that above everything?
She's damn offended. Offended that Titans are but products of myths. ]
no subject
Well. That is interesting, but he's not sure what to make of it. Will it be strategically useful to him? Probably not. Is it of obvious interest to Hange? Definitely. As it does involve Titans.
He doesn't exactly know what she's thinking, but he knows that look on her face, and so tries to keep his words neutral.]
It is suggestive. They may exist in other worlds... I wish we could bring back some actually useful information. [He's far more focused on the practical aspects of the matter, as usual, not that he can't appreciate her more esoteric concerns.]
And hello to you too, I should say.
1/6 im so sorry

[ No doubt they will be kicked out of the library. Nevertheless, she continues to rant passionately, ] What-- how-- how am I supposed to research them when they are not here? How am I to help humanity when there are none here to observe...--?!
no subject
[ She does know that extra information-- by the sciences provided here, of course-- are helpful, but that point is currently being repressed at her taking in the reality of the absence of her favorite topic. ] I'm disgusted that they pass them off as mere myths...! [ She spits, throwing the book down. ]
no subject
But. Nope. She hasn't. ] Useless... it's all useless! [ She cries out, clearly upset. Let her wail and wallow in her sorrow for a moment or two. Eventually she will calm down-- ]

Hello, Commander.
haha no, don't apologize, it's everything I could have wanted.
This isn't the time to be emotional.
I'd like nothing better than to bring back information about the Titans that could save the people we've left behind, but as you've said, there are no Titans here, and to all appearances, there's nothing we can learn about them here, not directly. That said, this place has a wealth of knowledge, on so many subjects--things I hadn't so much as imagined before I came here--and there's no way of telling what may be of use to us. It could be the smallest fact, hidden away. We should discount nothing. We should do everything within our power to turn this situation to our advantage.
It is not useless. Our work is never useless. We fight for humanity, no matter where we go. There are dangers here as well, and mysteries to be solved, and there is a city full of innocent people that needs defending.
[He pauses, his sobriety lightening somewhat.]
At ease.
uvu
She hears him. She agrees with him. But the one thing on her mind is-- ]
But.... there are still no Titans.... [ She looks and sounds defeated when she is allowed to break a formal stance. At least she offers a counter point: ] You want me to read up as much as I can, without having anything to apply any gained knowledge towards. Information like that-- that's only half as effective.
[ What should she do, build Titan dummies? ]
no subject
It's strange, isn't it? To live in a world without them. Even though it's what we've always worked for.
[It's both unnerving and a relief. He knows they're not there, but he can't help but half-expect them to appear, just when they're least expected.]
Yes, that's exactly what I want you to do. If there's anyone who can find something that might relate to the Titans, or be useful against them, and realize how to apply that information, I know it's you.
Half as effective is better than not effective at all.
no subject
Actually... I've already found a cross-reference with our Titans and those of the myths provided here. [ She speaks one name, a name that has only become well known in recent light. ] "Ymir".
no subject
Ymir.
[That is interesting. That "Titans" were referenced in myths was one thing, but for a particular name to come up? That's more than a little odd.]
What did you find?
no subject
To them, Ymir is the original Titan.
[ The three reasons would be: the name Ymir itself, the fact that this Ymir is a Titan, and how these two facts match up with what their Ymir and the mysteries she's presented. Hange, of course, has her theories as to what this means, but she doesn't tend to speak them unless asked. ]
no subject
The original. I can see why you'd consider this significant.
[If they could actually a discovery this important, could identify the first Titan, it would be one of the greatest advances the Survey Corps had ever made. Actual information about the origins of the Titans. He's very intrigued, but his expression remains sober, restrained. He'll jump to no conclusions until he's heard everything. It's best to keep an open mind.]
And?
[He prompts her to continue. Knowing Hange as he does, he's sure she has more to say about the topic. It's his job to listen.]
(no subject)
ok I give up slaps this tag down before I go to bed for real
[She does her best to find books similar the textbooks familiar to her. It works better with some subjects than it does others, not that learning the history and literature of other worlds isn't interesting in its own right. Currently, she carries one text on physics and another on calculus under her arm, wandering by chance into the same section as Erwin in an attempt to locate something she can use for geography. There's a brief second where she reflexively sizes him up, and then she bows her head slightly, her greeting solemn.]
Hello.
no subject
Afternoon.
Another scholar, I see. [Not that Erwin would precisely call himself a scholar, but he supposes he is for the moment. As for once, he has time and safety enough to study.] There's a great deal worth reading here. I've never seen anywhere like it before.
no subject
[Even if it isn't making what she has tasked herself with easy. It would be nice to find something on theories about the origin of Nova, or a text on anatomy and health tailored to Pandora, but she has yet to succeed on either of those fronts.]
no subject
It is. I've had the same thought. [He's familiar with libraries, but they're usually small and specific collections, these days, not large public buildings. And certainly not with such a wide range of subjects covered. There are too many books here that would be considered forbidden back home.] All these books, from different worlds, but there are so many commonalities. We're from entirely different universes, yet we're standing here speaking to each other in a way we can both understand. We're human.
[He glances down at the map again, indicating it with a fingertip.]
My world probably isn't much different than this one. With the--sea, and the forests and the mountains, and--deserts. [The ideas of an ocean and a desert are still foreign to him, and the world represented in that map seems so vast. Is his own world really so large?]
I wish I could find more specific information about my world, but there doesn't seem to be any. [Although, if he saw a map of his entire world, would he even recognize it?]
no subject
[She notices the those slight breaks in his speech, especially with how well-spoken he seems to be otherwise. She wonders, but she doesn't comment.]
Mm. I'm having a similar problem. [Her eyes flick toward the shelves, then back to his face.] Many of these books are out of date, from my perspective. Or they don't cover some specific topic relevant to myself or my world.
no subject
True enough. As similar in some respects as our worlds may be, this is nothing like home.
Out of date? [He shakes his head, not disbelieving, but simply because it's hard to imagine what would make much of this seem out of date.] Much of what I've read about here is far beyond what we have in my world. Even these communicators-- [He touches his hand to the jacket pocket where he keeps his watch.] --we have nothing like them at home. I wish we did. [They'd be incredibly useful in relaying information, immediately and effectively. Think of how many lives they'd save.]
But yes, there are some subjects I'd like to research that don't appear to be referenced at all.
no subject
[His comment on the communicators catches her by surprise, though. She blinks, he seriousness of her demeanor ebbing some.]
...Ah, really? Not even radios?
no subject
Radios? [It takes him a moment to place the term from his reading, but he thinks he knows what she means.]
No, no radios. [He wishes.] We use smoke flares to communicate immediately over a distance. Otherwise, it's messengers on horseback or messenger birds.
no subject
Oh. [And, of course, her first thought is how much more difficult that would make military operations. It's hard to imagine the idea of fighting something like the Nova without the luxury of instantaneous communication—so much so that the first words that come to her mind are, "I'm sorry, that must be difficult." To actually say that seems patronizing, though, so she refrains.] It sounds like we come from very different places.
