G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

[ As she comes for him, he quickly realises that this was a rather bad idea, and one he would never have considered under normal circumstances. He doesn't really know if he wants to live, but he is certain that he doesn't want to die so that sort of settles the debate in any case since there aren't all that many options that lie in between.

Strong hands reach out for the wolf to prevent her jaws from closing around his throat, and he tries to grab her and fling her aside so that perhaps he can get a bit of a head start. Running has suddenly become a much more appealing option once more.

What the hell had he been thinking?

Note to self, in moments of utter idiocy, stay away from giant wolves with the ability to bite through your sparklemarble skin. ]

[That's a good plan, sparklepire. Too bad Leah sucks at notes to self, or else she might realize that taking on a vampire by her lonesome isn't the best way to maintain a glossy fur coat.

She smashes back first into a wall with the cracking sound of bones breaking. Leah howls in fury and pain. It takes her a moment to work through the blinding pain and get back onto her paws, just long enough for Alistair to get something of a head start.

Just enough to make it interesting.

The wolf throws back her head and howls, calling for a pack that isn't going to respond. Then she is off, bounding after her prey with surprising agility for a creature as large as her. But she isn't as fast as the fastest wolf of her pack should be, not with something broken, though she can't say exactly what. Her entire back explodes in agony with every step. This is why wolves don't hunt alone, crosses her mind before she shoves the thought away.

It is frustrated fury as much as duty that has her put all her strength into doggedly keeping moving, that has her snarling.]

[ He heard that crack, he knows that he did some kind of damage back there and it is utterly frustrating that these damn wolves always have to be so bloody stubborn.

He's always preferred to be on the other end of this game, a hunter at heart even before he was turned into the ultimate predator.

Alistair isn't the fastest among vampires, but he is most definitely not the slowest either and it is quite a feat that Leah isn't being left in the dust considering the fact that she's injured.

Had he been a more honorable sort, Alistair might have respected her a little for that. As it is he mostly finds it annoying. ]

[Now there's something making a grinding noise in what used to be her left shoulder with every powerful bounding step and she's losing grounds, ever so slightly.

Just enough that the vampire might gain that valuable split of a second to make his way into a tree or onto a roof, somewhere she can't follow in this shape and with the break, neither in her other.

That knowledge keeps her going through the pain, makes her use the pain to fuel her anger instead of mellowing it.

She's the fastest wolf. It's all she's good at. All she's good for.

If she can't even be fast enough anymore...

Well, it's all she's left.]

[ He definitely needs to get his sparkly ass up in a tree because whatever urge he'd had to let her get a taste of him has evaporated now and he's his usual evasive self again.

He isn't entirely aware of it, but this chase has restored an amount of normalcy in his life again that his shattered mind sorely needed. This he knows. This he has a way to deal with.

Being stuck in a magical city and its surrounding area (even if said area is quite large) is just not very good for his sanity.

He's heading for the forest, and it won't be long until he reaches it now. Just a few more moments. ]

[That's fine, she doesn't mind the forest, in fact, treading on soft earth jars her aching body less than running on hard concrete.

Mind muddled from pain as it is, she doesn't realize the problem until the vampire is already high in the trees where she can't follow in her wolf shape and is too slow to keep up in her human body.

She howls in fury before she changes back to her human shape.

There she stands, wincing at her injury and cursing the loss of her clothes. No way to return to town but on four paws...]

Show yourself, you goddamn coward!

[ Here's his chance. He could just swoop down from the trees too fast for her to have time to phase and he could just end her, problem solved.

... But he doesn't.

Carlisle knows this girl, and for some reason that actually matters to him more now than it ever did back home.

She is a link to where he's from, to the only person who halfway means something to him. ]

Why would I want to make things easier for you, doggy?

[ His slightly raspy voice comes from some unspecified point up above, but he stays hidden and out of sight. ]

[Leah freezes.

He did not...]

You did not...

[Quite impressive, really, how close she can come to an animalistic growl with human vocal cords.]

You didn't call me "doggy."

[She glares into the trees, downright quivering with fury. Not the fury that would have her phase, but the fury that makes her want to strangle the vile creature the old-fashioned human way.] Come down here and let me rip off your head!

Touchy subject?

[ There's almost a hint of amusement in Alistair's voice, and that is an impressive reaction to get out of him because there isn't much in this big old world that amuses this vamp. ]

If it's all the same to you I think I'll stay up here. I prefer my head to stay attached to the rest of me.

[Humor, leech? No, she can't say she's laughing.]

Funny, I think you'd look better as a pile of ash. I could help you achieve that desirable state.

[Leah sighs angrily. They are at an impasse.] If you try again to feed from humans I won't show mercy.
