NOV. TEST DRIVE

Sorry to be late this time!

G'day, Ruby City!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations:

  1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.

  2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

  3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

  4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

  5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

  6. The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

  7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

  1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.

  2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.

  3. Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

  4. Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!

Have fun, guys!

It combines all the breakfast drinks into one! Well, you know, except for coffee, tea, or the essence of the universe.

[Eyes brighten up now.]

So, like, red's for summoning, blue's for protection, green's for energy fluctuations, and the stripe-y kind for all three? Does spearmint play a role here?

Call me old-fashioned, but I'm pretty sure that orange juice and milk are two things that really shouldn't be mixed together. [ said with an amused eyebrow-raise. whoever this man is, he's certainly bizarre even by Sam's rather generous standards. ] D'you often have essence of the universe with your cornflakes, then?

[ he laughs at the question about the toothpaste. ] I think you're the first person who hasn't looked at me like I've got two heads for using toothpaste in magic. It's nowhere near as complicated as all that, seeing as it depends on what I'm using the circle for and what colours I have on hand, but it's basically stuff like that, yeah.

Doesn't everyone? [He looks genuinely puzzled about this.]

What's wrong with having two heads? [Man, the rest of the world makes no sense.] I mean, okay, it's always a challenge figuring out which you like best, but that's nothing to be ashamed of!

What sorts of things can you do with the circle? I mean, are they your standard summoning variety, or can you go off the beaten path with them?

Well, not in my experience, seeing as how I think several Incarnates would frown upon the whole thing.

[ he shrugs. ] Oh, the usual things. Protection, summoning... the thing about magic is that it's a lot more flexible and a lot less pompous than people like to think it is. [ beat. ] Take it you personally know a lot of people with two heads, then?

Oh, yes! I think, statistically speaking, approximately 2% of the population is multiheaded at any given point, and most of them go on to have very fulfilling lives. Just look at Michael Sanderoux, star quarterback of the Night Vale Scorpions, even if his mother seems to like his second head much better than the first.

And, well. What they don't know will probably come back to haunt them.

Well, it certainly sounds like there's never a dull moment in this Night Vale of yours.

Of course! Why live a life not feeling alive?
