[ It's not all that weird for Jean to pass Armin on his way to the kitchen... But it's definitely weird for there to be a mistletoe right there at the doorway. Oh dear. ]

[ Of course, Jean doesn't notice, he just brushes by. ]

Hey, move. I'm gonna make hot chocolate.

[Jean bulldozering around, weird? No. Mistletoe hanging in the doorway, odd? Yes. Armin standing under it with an open book in his hand about Christmas traditions, strange? Not in the slightest.

He kind of fumbles with the book though, as Jean comes to pass him by. Looking a little flustered by the situation.]

Move?.. Hot Chocolate?...

[Someone is slightly distracted, forgive him.]

-Oh! Um, well sure I guess, it's just...

Yeah, outta the way, y'know?

[ Jean still hasn't noticed, he's much too intent on hot cocoa it is a gift from the gods. ]

You never had hot chocolate before or something?

[There's no point in stepping aside, seeing as they were under the mistletoe and all, but Armin shifted a little anyway.]

No.. I've never had it before. Why are you offering me some?

[He looked puzzled for a moment, then spoke again.]

I don't think you can replace a kiss with something else, Jean, but if that's what you want to try I guess...

[ Finally, he looks up and notices-- ]

Shit, these things again? Nah, I know we gotta kiss or something... WHo came up with this stupid tradition anyway?

[Armin laughed a little at Jean's reaction. At least he seemed relaxed about it, made Armin feel less awkward.]

I believe you can blame the Norse Goddess Frigg for that. Though, I think I read it was also the Greeks? I'm not sure it's exact origin, but... You're not actually interested in a history lesson are you?

[ Being engaged means Jean is 100% sure of his devotion after all, no matter who he kisses he's wearing Marco's ring, right? That's totally how it works, right? ]

[ Of course, Jean looks unimpressed. He sighs, bending down... quite a ways. You're kinda short, Armin. ]

[ Don't let his cool demeanor fool you, he's still blushing quite a bit. ]

[That's all good and well, but Armin is suddenly feeling nervous about the whole thing. He likes Marco, respects him and same goes for Jean! He's become a lot closer friend with you Jean! So this is making him feel ... Odd.

Still! It's not like Armin is trying to break up the happy couple, so long as Marco understands... Everything is cool... Everything is peachy!... ]

N-no! Not when you say it like that, Jean! It's suppose to be a special thing... I know you're in a rush to get to your hot chocolate but still... Here...

[Fine if it helps, Armin goes up on his toes. Better? You're not the only one blushing at this, Jean.]

[ They never fight, they never break up, don't worry Armin, Jean could kiss Levi and still Marco would probably just wonder how he survived such a thing. ]

Kissing's... not that big of a deal. [ He says, having only really kissed Marco and Eren. But he was drunk. IT DOESN'T COUNT! This is different. He's not in cheesy love with Armin. It's just... awkward... And before Jean finishes properly leaning in, he asks: ]

What, is this your first kiss or something?

[Knowing that would make him feel a whole lot better actually. You know Armin, he's more about solving problems than creating them.]

Hey Armin, do you know what the whole thing about the mistletoe is, anyway? Like... [he looks up at it] Why.

Hm?

[Armin looks up to where Eren was looking. He smiled and laughed a little.]

Oh! That? Well actually yes, I do know what it's about. It's a tradition that came from a the Norse god story. Baldu I think it was. His mother Frigg asked all the birds, beasts, creatures of the sea and plants not to harm her son when she sent him to earth. She forgot to ask Mistletoe not to harm him and- Did you know it's a very toxic and dangerous plant Eren?

[Someone's getting distracted.] -But yes, she forgot to ask it not to harm Baldu and an arrow head was laced with the toxic plant essence, fired at him by another God called Loki and it killed him! So then the tears of Baldur's mother became the berries of the plant, and it was decreed that mistletoe would never again be used as a weapon and that she would place a kiss on anyone who passed under it.

[A pause and a shrug.]

And so, that's why people kiss under it, Eren.

Yeah, Glockenblume "told" me it was poisonous. He was really confused about why we were bringing it into the house, seemed to want to make sure I knew not to eat the berries. [the little dragon could be like a mother hen sometimes...]

So it's kind of ironic, huh? Doing something like kissing under something so dangerous. That IS irony, right? [hehehe... putting off the inevitable, now...]

[A smile, because at least if Mikasa wasn't about to keep an eye on Eren, Armin could count on Glockenblume!]

It's a kind of irony, sure. I mean, I don't think that's why it's hung, but you're right, Eren! It's very ironic to do so.

[Yea, it's like Armin has forgotten they have to kiss - This is what you get for asking a nerd to explain an origin story!]

Yeah... I'm still not sure what "irony" is. But I'm glad I got it kind of close. [Eren looks up at the plant, then back at Armin. HE hasn't forgotten] So, how should we do this...?

[He was about to explain to Eren what Irony means, and so on and so forth, until his best friend reminded him why they were there and what was going to have to happen.]

Oh right! Ahah, yea sorry. Um.. Hm..

[Pondering as he smiled, not so much awkward, but more slightly embarrassed. Eren was his closest friend, a little kiss between them should be nothing to get worried over, it was just a little embarrassing was all.]

Okay Eren! Close your eyes!

Uh... mmm.. ok! [Eren is a little flustered himself. Of course he is! But it won't be a big deal, right? So he closes his eyes]
