In the deep Midwinter...

The previous plotting post made mention of ghosts and spirits appearing as evening falls on December the 21st. This is a separate post for some more focused plotting, if anyone wants to do it!

The ghosts that will appear will vary in age, gender, time period, even universe of origin. Some of them will be peaceful, simply unrestful and may even engage in polite, pleasant conversation. Some may be playful or mischievous, either benevolently or with far more malevolent intentions and some may even be violent. Particularly strong spirits are able to affect the world around them with limited effect, or even take possession of weaker-minded people.

Spirits may also have the ability to take on the appearance of someone that the person they come across knows from home. However, they will only be able to look as the person remembers and will know nothing more than the person they have attached to knows. No deep dark secrets from home, sorry!

As dawn breaks on the 22nd of December the spirits will disappear from whence they came. Feel free to have as much fun with this as you like!

This post is for the purpose of questions and plotting, should you have any specific ideas. Also, it would be appreciated if you could answer the following question in the Questions comment, should you have a moment! - Would you find it useful to have a mod-posted log for the evening/night of the 21st, to save on community flooding?

First thoughts: Rude should have a kid-ghost latch onto him. Because clearly the big guy needs the spirit of a dead kid following him around like a duckling that saw him first and called him Mom.

One of Soma's spanking new abilities is to temporarily leave his body in the form of a ghost, and I think it might be fun to do something with it during this time, any suggestions?

I was thinking of having a spirit attach to Celty and basically turn her on to being controlled or influenced by other dark elements, ie Xehanort and Dracula.

Is this okay? Under normal circumstances they would need her head. This would be a temporary version, a oneshot of control at least.

Edit: Was told the Nibelheim thing was cool, but a bit much, so scaling back. Cloud will be seeing some "Ghosts" from his past. Particularly his mother, and possibly a few sightings of Zack, despite him being in the city.

The point will be to shake some of his buried memories loose, though not nearly as dramatically as I was threatening before. Still, fun times.

Anyone who wants to help him work through his issues once and for all is welcome to attend.

For reference: Cloud's canon point is from the beginning of Disc 2, BEFORE he's dealt with this stuff in game.

JW IS GOING TO TRY TO EAT PEOPLE. He will be possessed by an angry, cannibalistic spirit. It won't give him any powers, so it's not like your character is in trouble unless they can't run away from a worn out stick man. HE DOES have a knife though.

Various Spirit Things:

Soga no Tojiko will be kicking the asses of spirits who are jerks and smacking upside the head the ones who are just being mopey and annoying. If anybody wants her to help out dealing with some ghosts, she's available.

Phoenix is going to have his hands full watching over not one, not two, but THREE spirit mediums of varying ability who are going to be affected by all of this. Good times.

Hiroshi will probably, at first sight of ghosts, immediately seek out someone with the capacity to exorcise. I would also, however, like a situation where he has to help deal with and get rid of a ghost himself, if anybody wants to help him on that front.

Jumping off plotting stuff, and I'll probably be making this its own log but I support the modlog too:

I'd like for the influence of the spirits to cause Cloud and Sephiroth to relive the Nibelheim incident. However, due to resonation and such, it creates a localized illusion that other people can "enter" and "interfere" in. We'll avoid actual damage to the city, maybe make it happen on the outskirts or just outside of town.

Zack and Tifa can contribute to the illusion "sever load" too.

Spirit stuff:

Trucy probably will try to make friends with any spirits she encounters, fun stuff like that. Maybe even catch a quick glimpse of her REAL father, Zak. People should come bother her probably. or she should go bother people...

Charlotte however is going to be affected differently. The spirits are going to be making her magic go haywire; she's going to be extremely frustrated and grumpy because no doubt one of those ~spirits~ will be that of Brauner, one of the vampires she helped defeat at home.

Integra: I haven't quite made a decision on what to do with her as of yet. She is prone to being harassed by various spirits, some of whom may decide to take on the forms of those from her home, and make her relive the events which lead to the razing of London. Granted, I still need to sort out the details.

Otherwise, she'll be looking after her housemates and those who took refuge with her during the storm, but she's not going to be in the best of spirits by any means.

Alice: Will be followed by a spirit posing as Kai from The Snow Queen. He won't be doing anything bad, he'll just bug her about exploring/playing together. (Maybe seeing her as a substitute for Gerda?). She's not going to be very amused after the first few hours, lbr. :(

Morrigan: Will be nopeing away from the spirits but keeping an eye out in case anything happens.

Waver won't be affected by spirits, but he'll be extremely game for trying to figure out what to do about everything. Since he's now set up in the labs, an option might be to take in someone who's possessed and try and bring in other people who are trying to exorcise or else deal with the problem and test what does/doesn't work in order to arrive at a solution!

Obviously Waver's still living on the library's third floor, so if you're interested in shenanigans there, let me know.
