PLAYER PLOT: Info + Plotting Post

Hello there, Ruby City! This is Nyx, player of Claudia Kotomine and, more relevantly, Manaka Sajou, here to bring you a player plot!

As some of you may already be aware, Manaka has been growing a garden of evil flowers. Specifically, they're flowers she has been using as vessels to store the same energies that permeate her zombified body! She has been sustaining them through the winter with magic, and now it's finally time to put them to use.

Which is why this concerns you.

When is the plot being run?
The plot will run from the 13th to the 20th.

What exactly does this plot entail?
Because Manaka is stuffed with the energy of all humanity's evil desires, exposure to the flowers is going to stimulate exactly that: desires, suppressed or otherwise, with a less than savory bent. This can mean outright malicious or simply selfish to the point of disregarding the well-being of others. What's more, the manner in which characters will want to act on these urges will be twisted, encouraging them to be violent and cruel in ways that they might never dream of under normal circumstances. Even normally innocent desires might end up warped into something darker.

How will exposure happen?
It's simple! When characters wake up on the 13th, the center of town will be absolutely covered in flowers. While they won't appear inside homes, they will decorate the area surrounding the obelisk, and they will be found inside public stores. Characters who stop to examine them may feel compelled to pick one up and take it with them, though to them it'll probably just feel like tucking one into a pocket or behind their ear on a whim.

Characters who take a flower home will experience the worst symptoms, though characters who are only exposed through their presence in public areas may experience them to some degree as well. (Or they might not. It's really up to you!)

How will these "symptoms" progress?
From the 13th to the 18th, characters will become increasingly warped by the mental effects outlined above. At first, characters may only seem spacey or distracted, but as the week progresses, they'll become increasingly irritable and preoccupied with their desires. By Saturday, that irritation and preoccupation will have blossomed into outright aggression and fixation. How exactly characters choose to act on their desires is of course up to their players, but remember that the flowers' influence will encourage them to act in ways that harm others!

How is this getting resolved?
By the 19th, affected characters should be pushed to the point where their behavior becomes something like outright rioting. A city without laws should be a lot more chaotic than Ruby City is, you know? ♥

Of course, at this point, obviously action will need to be taken by the characters who have remained unaffected. In order to do away with their effects on the city, the flowers need to be outright destroyed; simply throwing them away won't help. The symptoms won't immediately disappear, but they will fade back into something manageable over the course of a day or so.

Will their be any lasting effects on afflicted characters?
Not really! The flowers' energies will be naturally purged from their minds over a small period of time, though low-level symptoms may linger during this process. "A small period of time" can be anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, at the player's discretion.

Characters with some kind of spiritually purifying ability may, of course, use this to quicken the process for themselves or others.

Is there anything else odd about these flowers?
At a glance, they just seem oddly healthy for the time of year. If your character is the type to note something like this, though, they don't seem to wilt once taken home, either.

What if my character is spiritually sensitive, has the ability to detect evil, etc?
Because the flowers are radiating their energy out into the air, and there's so many of them spread out, it's hard to pinpoint a particular source. However, the atmosphere of the city will take a turn for the decidedly unsettling at about the same time they appear, and it will be more concentrated in places where there are a lot of them.

If I'm interested in participating, do I have to sign up?
Nnnnope! As this is meant to be a more freeform plot, you can just participate to whatever degree strikes your fancy.

Will there be mingle posts made during this event?
I will post one for the start of the event, as well as its final phase. However, players should make their own posts for the part of the event that comes in between.

What about character death?
Given the nature of this plot, character death is possible--or even likely! As per mod decision, players will have free rein on deaths. Filling out a death request form won't be necessary, and characters who die during the event will begin to revive on the 21st.

I have another question!
I will be posting a "Questions" thread below, so feel free to ask anything I might have left out there!

And that's all! Feel free to ask questions in this post, or use it for plotting.

--UPDATE-- An important update has been added to the FAQ regarding the subject of character death. Please make sure to look it over.
