1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.

2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

6. The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.


Scenarios

1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.

2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.

3. Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

He wasn't the only one drinking in that bar. Though River was definitely not drinking a beer. No, she was drinking wine and savoring it for the most part. But, that didn't mean that the handsome and definitely armed man at the bar escaped her noticed.

And with a face like that, how could she resist?

River finished off her glass, set it down and made her way to where he was sitting and taking the seat nearest him before ordering herself another drink.

"Come here often or is this your first time?" Of course she knew the answer. River would never forget a face like that.

[Troy chuckles. He didn't fully expect that to work, but he gives a little wave to Kos-Mos when he sees her look at him]

Wondering where you got that arm injury. I can help fix it in a snap if you'd be willing.

[Charley has the sense to know better, but damn that adventurous streak that makes her want to sate her curiosity about the strangely grinning man.

Besides, he's said something that hits close to home. So she strolls up behind him with a raised eyebrow, looking him over.]

It isn't always what it's cracked up to be, however. Thinking you're dead and realizing you're not, I mean. You always end up paying for it down the line.

Hey, that relationship with time is not his fault. Not one little bit. Well maybe a bit, considering his former time agent status...but the thing with Rose and the TARDIS' heart? Nope. He'd resigned himself to death. Only to wake up. And continue to not stay dead.

Jack looked the other man over, smile not dropping a bit even if that question was a bit of a fumble. Nothing he'd blame the man for of course, or take offense - unless it was because he was utterly uninteresting. Then they'd have some talking to do.

"If you can explain why I don't remember the train ride here without a sip of alcohol, yes. Yes you can."

Jack will believe it when he sees that wonderful, gorgeous blue box. Or the Doctor. He'll take either, really. Even if technically he wasn't supposed to be traveling through time and space anymore...it wasn't his fault this time. Really! He'd gone back (mostly) quietly when the Doctor had dropped him off along with the lovely and talented Martha Jones. He'd been going back to his team and then...oops, off the train he went.

And then that voice piped up and he did an about face to see his dear Doctor. He grinned with a laugh, coat swishing a little around him with the movement.

"Mighty noisy cat, with an attitude problem that we won't speak of, Doctor."

Don't mind him if he strides up to you, he was always happy to see the Doctor.

Oh no, there were plenty of people around to watch. That was what made it more interesting, though it was even better when lovely beings came onto him. It was the curls. And that smile. So full of mischief that just called to him.

Jack turned to her with a half grin, turning all that focus and charm onto her as if she was the only creature that mattered in the bar. And right then, she was.

"First time's the charm, as the saying goes." He cocked his head a little, looking her over again. "But you already knew that. Captain Jack Harkness, at your service."

It's always the curls that get the boys attention. They just loved the curls. But it's the mischief they always stayed for. And maybe the adventure that seemed hot on her heels wherever she went.

"Did I? It's a pleasure to meet you Jack."

She gave him a once over in return and just smiled. "I always did fancy a man in uniform and I bet you look stunning in one."

So this was Captain Jack Harkness. She liked him.

"Professor River Song."

Face it, River, gorgeous attracted gorgeousness. Added promises of adventure, chaos, and various other fun times were perks.

Just as military men and women attracted attention. A fact which Jack made full use of, even if he really had once been part of a government's military - just...not the one people might automatically think of when it was mentioned.

Ah ha! Feisty. He liked her already.

"And out of one," he quipped with a shameless wink. "You're in luck, I've always had a thing for teachers."

"Do you? I might have to see you both ways to make up my mind on which is the better sight." Feisty doesn't begin to describe her Jack. But, it's definitely a good start.

"Then today must be my lucky day. Maybe we can make it even luckier later."

Jack will just have to find out, won't he? Likely the hard way. That was often how it went. He chuckled and raised his glass to her.

He hesitated only briefly, as if thinking that over very carefully. "I think that can be arranged."

The 'hard way' is always the funnest route to finding things out.

His answer just gains a mischievous smile as she raises her glass to him slightly before sipping her wine. "I hope so. It's been awhile since I've had interesting company."

Jack took a sip of his beer in turn, that grin only barely being disrupted. "That's a shame. I'm glad I came to these parts to help fix that."

"So am I. Now tell me Captain, what branch of the military were you in?"

Ooooh, complicated question, River. Jack was used to it, thankfully, and refrained from embarrassing reactions. He leaned against the bar a bit more.

"Oh, I don't know. If I told you, I might have to kill you," he responded lightly, tone playful.

"To do that you would have to catch me first." Her own tone was playful and light, but there was a definite truth to them. "And trust me Captain, that isn't the easiest thing to do. "

Not even Storm Cage Prison could hold River Song.

A runner, as well. Lovely. Jack's grin didn't dim at all. "I like a good chase. I've been known to run after the impossible, and win." Can you say, Doctor?

"Tell you what. You show me around a little, and I might just bend the rules a little."

Well, stick around long enough, Jack, and you might find yourself on the TARDIS, if not living there. It's hard to say, given how little she likes paradoxes. And well, everyone knows Jack Harkness is probably the biggest paradox there is.

But he can't help but smile, just so glad to see his old friend, that he doesn't mind one bit when he walks right up to him.

"I can't imagine a single cat giving you any trouble, Jack. Not you, the impossible, irrepressible Captain Jack Harkness."

[ Wait. what. You're a guy?!! Haha, enjoy Ino mistaking you for a pretty, young lady. ]

Nope! Not busy at all. Feel free to grab a seat and keep me company. [ She smiled sweetly. Aw, yeah. Time to get some information around here. ]

I'm Ino. What's your name?

You mean the train kidnaps people against their will! I didn't sign up for this!!

[ Huffhuff. ]

My name is Ino. From, um, planet Earth as well?? [ She gestures to her slice of strawberry, cheesecake. ] Care to join me?

You think we volunteered for this shit? No, but here we are, and damned if any of us can magic up a doorway home. The train sure as hell doesn't work. It just boots us back here if we try to ride out.

Even if we try to run, we can only get so far. If the beasts out there don't get you, you'll eventually hit your limit and STILL get yanked back here. We're tethered, even if we can't see the leashes.

[He's normally not one for sweets OR hanging out with people he doesn't know. Still, she was around his age and didn't seem to have a dangerous aura. He WAS kind of hungry.]

Sure, I guess. Everything here is free, so there's no worries. The free room and board is about the only thing that I enjoy here.

Okay, I will pretend you're simply trying to scare me here. There is no possible way for us to be trapped. [ She waves a hand casually. ] I'm sure none of you had figured a way out. That's all!

[ She smiles sweetly, sliding the plate closer to his side. ] So, what's the deal? Fill me in. Who's in charge around here?

[Wouldn't be the first time that had happened to him! But it looks like she's okay with him so far, so he'll be seating himself across from her of the table booth.]

Oh good! I'm glad to hear that. I'm still trying to approach people here and be a little more social, so I apologize if I sound strange or weird.

[He then gives her a sheepish smile and a small nod in return for her greeting.] My name is Honori. A pleasure to meet you, Ino. And I don't believe I've seen you around in the social parts of this town before... have you just arrived here recently?

Hmm, so you're a shy one. How adorable.

[ The sweet smile shifts into a devious smirk. He reminded her of Sakura when they were younger. ]

Yeah, I'm 'new'. Not really sure what I need to do now. It seems like an ordinary city. Boring, but decent. Perhaps you can help a girl out and share some information!

I don't bother with their names, since they don't even show themselves very often. Near as I've heard, they're the only natives. Regardless of the means they used, they're still the ones responsible. As for the "how" of it, damned if any of us know.

Anything was possible when it came to the Doctor. Jack had full confidence now that he'd see that lovely blue box again since the Time Lord was there. Now if he was allowed in, he'd be happy. He knew he felt wrong to the TARDIS and the Doctor.

And speaking of the Doctor...Jack laughed and reached out to clap him on the shoulder (okay, maybe it was a way to prove to himself this was real sue him) in greeting.

"All in the best ways." All very true things. "So. This place. Where exactly are we? Or when, if that's more accurate." The Doctor would know. The Doctor always knew. Unless he was having a bad day.
