March Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
Locations:
1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.
2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?
3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!
4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.
5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.
6. The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.
7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.
Scenarios
1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.
2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.
3. Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?
4. Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!
Have fun, guys!
Lumina | Final Fantasy 13: Lightning Returns
[Lumina had found the cathedral shortly after she arrived, but she'd tiptoed around actually going in, just because she knew Vanille wouldn't be there. Which didn't really matter, exactly, except that she'd rather not be reminded of her absent friend.]
[Still, she had to go eventually, right? Which was why the odd little girl could be found wandering slowly around the altar area, her steps big and long, her hands folded behind her back, the light aura of chaos fluttering out of her as it always did. She paused occasionally to examine something, a faint smile on her face.]
[It really did remind her of the grand cathedral in Luxerion. If...much smaller. And without all the people obsessed with God. She could get used to that bit...]
5-2 - The Library
[Lumina was really not used to unfamiliar situations. After a hundred and fifty years, she'd adjusted to the small cluster that remained of the world. And suddenly she was thrust into a new (if just as small) place, except one she knew nothing about!]
[Well, that wasn't going to stand, which was why she was wandering through the library, plucking books off the shelves and flipping through them. Sometimes she put them back, most of the time she tossed them absently onto the floor, and occasionally one would vanish into the chaos for later retrieval.]
[She'd been there for a few hours, and by then there was...well, something of a mess.]
4 - Wildcard Wherever!
[Wherever they are, whatever they happen to be doing, someone suddenly gets the feeling that they are being watched. It's not that subtle, itchy sensation either, it's the genuine idea that someone is nearby.]
[And, in fact, they are! Lumina is perched nearby, typically somewhere up high, a slightly amused expression on her face as she puzzles out whatever the other is doing, her legs swinging idly in the air. She'd be much like any other tween except for the slightly loli dress, and the...bits of black chaos that seem to be seeping into the air around her. Not that she pays that any mind.]
Hey stranger. What's goin' on?
[ooc: Lightning Returns spoilers are possible, but Lumina is too much of a troll to give anything away, and I'll avoid them as much as I can!]
2-1
He cants his head to the side. He knows the aura but he can't place it. The visions said nothing about her but that nagging feeling that he knows her from somewhere is very much there. He steps forward, his footfalls echo through through the vaulted ceiling.]
I am under the impression that I should know you though the placement has be vexed.
[The visions that he's seen are foggy at best like grainy images on a television screen and faded.]

KOS-MOS/Mary Magdalene || Xenosaga
[Stepping off the train, noting how primitive a method of transportation it is, and looking around, the android first takes the time to scan the immediate area for persons of interest.
Finding none of particular interest to her, she decides quickly that she'll have to settle for the next best thing: anybody passing by. Hopefully, they won't mind. Even though KOS-MOS doesn't particularly care whether they do or not.]
[library]
[This... is also primitive. Who reads books anymore? Except Jin and Junior. Still, she's at least courteous enough not to put them away haphazardly or throw them like Shion might, who in no way conceals her disdain for her brothers hobbies.]
[park]
[Feel free to find her carrying her arm, sparks of power flickering from her shoulder where it was torn off.]
[Park - Audio (for now)]
He takes the pocketwatch to send an audio message. He's pretty good with gadgets, so he figured out how it worked pretty easily. He could just fly down there, but nah. He's not even sure if this is a trap or a hostile enemy. Better safe and mysterious than dead and sorry. His visor slides back automatically, revealing a smug grin on his face before he speaks up to the pocketwatch]

Serah Farron || FFXIII-2
[Serah's sitting in a corner, sipping on an expresso--with too much sugar, really--and watching the little city. She smiles and waves as a child goes past, wondering if there's any openings at the school--if there is one. She'd have to check that out. But for now, coffee and people watching.]
The Train Station
[Being new to the city, Serah's trying to strike up a conversation with anyone who looks like they know what they're doing, regardless of whether they do or not. So, excuse the tap on your shoulder as Serah walks around to face you.]
Hello. [She smiles sheepishly.]
Would you be willing to help me out? I'm a bit lost.
OOC: Spoilers are A-OK with me!
Coffee Shop
Sighing tiredly, she adjusted her jacket and opened the door, listening to the bells herald her arrival.
Honestly, she tried to make it to the counter, but her eyes had a habit of sweeping the rooms she entered, just to make sure, and they landed right on a head of pink hair.
She had to take a slower step, placing her foot down tentatively. She could have been having hallucinations. Who's to say? The city had long since gotten to her head, and she was half convinced she was going mad. She already had a bit loose upstairs at the start. Blinking, she stared for just a moment longer, her voice cracking some under the strain of it tightening. Wait'll Lightning hears about this.]

The Master | Doctor Who | Anywhere
Oh, well, isn't this just fabulous?
[ Yes, he's grinning, but it's a bit of a mad grin too that hints at something just shy of dangerous. ]
You know, there's nothing quite like the feeling of thinking you're dead and realizing you're actually not!
[ Well, he remembers the whole death part, but look at him: he's clearly standing, totally and completely whole and so very much alive.
It's shaping up to be a brilliant, brilliant day. He's going to be wandering about the city, poking in his nose everywhere and anywhere he can. ]
no subject
Besides, he's said something that hits close to home. So she strolls up behind him with a raised eyebrow, looking him over.]
It isn't always what it's cracked up to be, however. Thinking you're dead and realizing you're not, I mean. You always end up paying for it down the line.

Jack Harkness | Doctor Who Universe
Off a train without a paddle or TARDIS in sight. Again. This was becoming a habit, and one Jack Harkness wasn't so sure he liked it. But it didn't really matter what he liked, did it? Blue eyes flicked about, taking in the sights as he pushed away from the step he didn't remember taking. Step by step...by step. Hands in the deep pockets of his trench-coat. At least he still had that, and his clothes. Not always a sure thing with his job. He casually looked around, a half smile firmly in place - wouldn't do to scare people away from wherever/whenever this place was right off the bat.
So. Who to walk up to first...seeing a likely candidate, he upped the intensity and warmth of the smile and strode over.
4-2.
His head was somewhat spinning, though looking at him quietly sitting at a bar, sipping a beer, one wouldn't realize it. Unless they happened to know him already. He'd not been disarmed this time around, though Jack knew better than to make a show of checking the sidearm he had tucked under the trench-coat in it's shoulder holster. He knew it was there, and that was good enough. He didn't want to frighten away possible allies in this place.
Starting all over again. Again. How many times was it now? He'd lost count. The beer was decent at least, that wasn't always the case. And the atmosphere could have been far worse. He turned around on the stool and just set to people-watching, free arm resting on the bar and beer in hand, occasionally taking a sip.
no subject
On the other hand, given that he can't entirely help from frowning a little at what he can tell about Jack's very unique relationship with time well... perhaps things aren't going to be the easiest. But he's willing to at least offer something like his help, even if he's pretty sure that nothing about this is how things are really supposed to be.

King Mickey | Kingdom Hearts Series
[Trains aren't exactly gummi ships. They're not keyholes, either. So how in blue blazes did the King get here?
A quick spin of his wrist and he draws his keyblade. Can't be too cautious, after all--who knows if this new World is inhabited by heartless? He sneaks on tip-toe past the train station to check out his surroundings.]
I don't think I've seen a city like this before... Or even heard of it!
[In fact, he should still be with Yen Sid and Riku...
After a few moments, Mickey notes a strange weight in his pocket, and pulls out the watch.]
What's this--?
[For a few moments, Mickey lets down his guard to investigate the watch and try to get it working. Now might be a good time to approach, since he's 'dropped' his keyblade.]
((i'm still canon reviewing so if I get any cr/details wrong, let me know!))

A big mouse... she's seen stranger. But why has he got a Keyblade?
And why does seeing him ... make her head hurt so badly?

Henry | Fire Emblem: Awakening
[ Most people who happen to randomly be shoved into an odd moving steel contraption would find themselves distressed, but Henry enjoyed the length of his journey going over the moving gadget and its steel covered walls with a smile. Turning his head with curiosity as the doors opened, he walked out with big steps, arching a brow at the city in sight, and at the posters by the side. ]
Ruby City?
[ Wait. ]
In the state this place is in, it's more like Ruby Pity! Nya ha ha!

John Egbert | Homestuck | Black Stallion Saloon

Or... it could be sparsely populated and kind of a letdown.
Well, like John was really going to let that stop him from eating a hamburger. He had the boondollars to buy a hundred hamburgers, at this point, and probably other parts of the city would be more interesting.]

Rosalina | Super Mario Galaxy
[A young woman is here today, floating off the train with three small star-shaped figures, Luma's, floating around her; one is blue, one is yellow and one is black. She reaches out, gathering all three into her arms and floats further into the station as the train departs and she frowns.]
Polaris, what will we do now?
[Her tone is neutral for someone who isn't happy at the moment. The black Luma squirms in her arms and pops free, floating beside her again.]
We have to get back to the Observatory but we have no starship.
[Le Cafe Anglais]
[Rosaline enters the cafe, trying to escape a sudden downpour of rain with her Luma's tucked close to her chest, leaning over them to keep them as dry as she can.
And then starts the complaining from the blue and yellow Luma's.]
Mama, I'm hungry.
Are there any Star Bits here?
I want a purple one!
I want white!
Mama!
Mama!
Shh, I'll find you something. Don't worry.
[Maybe she can convince them to eat something here. They may not be Star Bits though, as upset as that might make them (and her, she does like them). But if she can eat Star Bits, maybe they can eat human food.]
[Anywhere else]
[Feel free to find Rosalina and her company of Luma's anywhere else in the city.]
[La Cafe Anglais]
Her head lifts up as she hears some one enter the modestly sized shop, her eyes going wide when she sees the familiar grab of blue and white. Etiquette and manners were tossed aside as Peach rose up from her seat and shouted across the way, spilling her tea off of the table and to the floor.]

Roxas | Kingdom Hearts | Library
He stood in the middle of an aisle, head craned back as he stared at the rows and rows books looming over him. The shelves seemed to stretch straight into the ceiling and as blue eyes scanned over the spines a frown appeared on his face.
He wanted answers. Being in the city for a few days already and not knowing what was going was really starting to make him mad. He still didn't really have answers from home either. What did being a Nobody really mean anyway? Why Sora? What was going to happen to Namine?
He shook his head, sighing to himself as he stepped closer to the shelf. A few feet above him though there was a particularly interesting-looking book that was just begging to be red. Red in cover with black text on the spine.
He looked behind him and to his left and his right before he stepped up onto the lowest shelf, beginning to scale the shelves in hot pursuit.
Don't mind the occasional falling book that gets in the way of his hand-holds.]

Zack Fair | Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
He stops in front of the giant ruby obelisk in the center of town and rubs the back of his neck with one hand on his hip. He doesn't have the Buster Sword with him since he remembers handing it over to Cloud. Well, at least there's no signs of battle here.]
What is this place? Huh. I don't remember seeing this on Gaia before.
[He turns away from the obelisk and starts walking toward the store fronts that he sees in the distance. At least there he can find someone that would know. Maybe he'll stop someone random on the street.]

Peko Pekoyama | SDR2 | Preemptive warning.
Also I am still trying to get her voice down-pat and all that, so it might feel... weird for me for a bit.
I also AM still kind of rereading SDR2, while I do know what happens throughout the game, the exact details are still entirely fuzzy, so also bare with me.
BIG ETA: Also PLEASE do not hesitate to ask me to not give spoilers, I will avoid subjects in game entirely if needed. And I will certainly not spoil and put in the subject 'SPOILERS DOWN THIS PATH' if a thread does come down to spoilers.
Especially the early chapters.
Lmao.]]
Wherever (Starts out at Train Station) - sudden rainstorm.
This was... different. Something the kendoka had not expected to be. What had happened -- had in fact happened. It was something she could not prevent. It was something she wanted to see happen, for his sake. But to end up here? ... That was where she was confused about.
Perhaps it was all a dream, waking up from one reality into another. Perhaps this was a dream. Who knows for certain? What she went through felt real enough, at least to her.
But again, that could have all just been a dream.
What is for certain is that within this reality that she is currently experiencing... Pekoyama has taken her first steps off the train, and what she is greeted with is nothing more than what she feels to be as is expected.
The rain. Hard pouring rain, as if the sky had tears contained for her, to weep and to somewhat mock her for what she had done.
She kept her stoic facade up, taking a small glance at the posters and the signs. This is the location where she is... Ruby City. What a name for a city currently drenched in rain, muffling the colors and making it seem depleted almost of what it should be. Instead of waiting out the rain like a normal person, despite the current attire she was sporting, the girl decides to calmly attempt to find herself, and see if there are others who she can familiarize herself with.
Or at least are hoping to give her answers.
DEFINITE SPOILERS HERE, AVERT THINE EYES
[Fuyuhiko wants answers, too. Answers to questions like, why the fuck does it have to start raining while he's trying to drag a table back to his apartment? And, if there aren't trucks or cars or anything useful in this place, why aren't there horse-drawn carts he can hire to do this for him? And, most pressingly, what has he ever done to deserve this shit?
No, he doesn't need an answer to that last one. He knows. Sobered, he presses himself against the wall at the entrance to the cathedral and only swears a little bit. Under his breath, too, out of respect.
He considers making a break for it. His apartment isn't far, only about halfway between the cathedral and the train station. But Fuyuhiko's wearing his suit instead of the more casual clothes he picked up in the last week, and he doesn't want to ruin the fabric. With a sigh, he makes sure the table's propped soundly against the wall and readies himself for a long wait.
And then he sees her.
He stops breathing. Even through the rain, even with one eye, he knows that figure wandering through the city. It's only been, what, a week? Two weeks? It doesn't matter. Even if a year had passed between the last time he'd seen her and now, Fuyuhiko would know her.
His voice is a child's whisper.]

Tonika • OC
[ This girl is scared and unnerved and absolutely everything in between. Tremors on her fingertips betray her mood easily to anyone who comes across her as she plays with the pocketwatch, walking the streets near the train station and trying to slip into as much denial as she can possibly handle. This is a dream, this is a nightmare, this is simply not what it appears to be.
Rumbling clouds in the distance warn of a storm coming, and she knows she'll have to find shelter, but where? She doesn't want to go near any of these foreign buildings or worse, run into any unfamiliar people.
What to do? ]
Hello fellow OC
The rain begins to fall faster than Caelica expected, making her whine to herself. She hates the rain and just want to get back home, but someone is in need! Caelica feels so torn for a second, until she decides to be the good person her society has raised her to be, much to her internal complaining. She created a barrier of light above her and the stranger, in the form similar to a runic magic circle. It acts like an umbrella, but it instead turns water into vapor from the heat of the barrier's outer surface]
The weather in this city can be unpredictable.
[Caelica approaches Tonika with her hands on her hips, but overall her body language is warm, welcoming, and friendly]

Byakuya Togami | Dangan Ronpa
[He has to admit, he hadn't expected this. One minute he was stepping out into the outside world for the first time in weeks, braced for the worst but determined to rebuild. The next, he'd found himself on a deserted train with no sign of those he'd just been with.
Which, in many ways, proves something of a blessing.
Stepping out onto the platform as the train comes to a stop brings him no closer to figuring out what's going on. He'd been promised a world steeped in despair, in the ultimate Tragedy, and yet where he finds himself now is decidedly calm. Peaceful, almost, especially with no sign of Fukawa or her bloodthirsty alter ego.
But peaceful doesn't give him answers and so it is he's collaring the first person he finds, standing tall and intending to be commanding as he makes his first step towards finding answers.]
You. I've decided you're going to tell me exactly what the meaning of this place is. And stick to the facts, please. I prefer to spend as little time with peons as I can get away with.
[How to win friends and influence people right here.]
5-2: Library
[Now that he's found the library, Byakuya's convinced he can make some sort of headway in finding out the truth behind this situation. At least, that's the plan. In reality, he's not finding a whole lot that's of any use and to say he's beyond frustrated at once again being trapped somewhere without sufficient explanation is an understatement.
It comes to something when he wishes he could see evidence of that accursed bear because at least him he knows how to deal with. This game is something new and while he's still determined to win, that's going to be difficult when he's not sure what the rules or the ultimate goal are.]
?-4: Wildcard
[Feel free to run into him elsewhere if neither of these work.]
1-1
And then he sees who he is and his expression freezes into incredulous shock.]
You--!
[He pulls his hands out of his pockets and takes a step back, making himself a smaller (ha) target.]
The hell are you doing here?!
Celestia Ludenberg | Dangan Ronpa | Le Cafe Anglais
And why would she? A game lost and yet here she is, walking around a brand new place and no sign of that wretched bear making everyone's lives a misery. Okay, she never collected her previous winnings but she doesn't seem to need them here, either. Little wonder she manages to be so serene.
Which isn't to say she's entirely pleased at being here either. But she's hardly about to let that poker face of hers slip again so soon, is she?]
no subject
Fuyuhiko eyeballs Celeste for a moment, but he passes without giving her a second glance. There are weirdos all over this city. He isn't here to gawk; he's here for one thing and one thing only.
He goes to the counter and asks for the same thing he's asked for nearly every day since he arrived.]
Four cookies and a cup of tea. Sugar. No milk.
Red Hood | Batman: The Brave & The Bold - Earth 3 Canon AU |
[ Like any good vigilante, Hood headed for higher ground not long after arriving in the city. However, the city seemed to have something to say about that: something wet, rainy, and miserable. This was not a great way to free-run through the rooftops, and after one slip on the slats on top of a buliding that nearly took him into a few-story fall, he said 'screw that noise' and found himself a perch. ]
[ So yes, there's a guy in a tux with a red helmet on that happens to be stranded in the clock tower. Yes, he got up there by climbing. No big deal, right? ]
no subject
[ When Hood turns around, he is going to meet a rain soaked young man with a gun in his hand (pointed conveniently at him) and an angry, dangerous look on his face. This is Jason Todd.
I will explain.
Normal people don't look up all that often. Jason Todd does. It was bred into him at an early age that there are people up there who are either going to help him or hurt him and he needs to see it before it happens so he can run an appropriate distance away. Welcome to Gotham. So of course, on his way back to his apartment, he just so happened to look up. And what do you think he saw? Oh that's right. The guy wearing the Joker's first costume.
Well, needless to say, he had to come up and investigate, the good old fashioned way. With violence. ]

Doffing his hat and leaning his cane against the bar, he settled in, asking for a beer and scanning the bar briefly, before he admited to no one in particular: ]
You know I don't recognize some of these drinks. Are these from local breweries, or someplace else?
[ You there, fine patron! He's asking you! ]
[ 5-2 ]
[ When in a new place, explore the literature. You can learn a lot about a place, from its social mores to it's challenges. Edward is a voracious reader to boot, so it's unsurprising that he's settled into the Ruby City library with armloads of books, and a note pad, trying to discern if it's native writing or if it's 'imported' as with many of the residents. ]
[ He's moving here and there to gather related volumes, poring over fiction and nonfiction alike. There's an answer to the city's riddle locked in here somewhere, and he wants to find it. ]
5-2; plot twist it's a robot instead of a vigilante.
Knowledge is power, right?
--And also maybe Mr. Darcy is cute, they are both entirely valid, literature related statements.
In one hand stands a sizable stack of books, easily taller than Labrys herself, while the other plucks up titles, seemingly at random. It teeters every once and a while, but she adjusts habitually without even looking over. She's kind of a regular, after all. Lots of practice. Reaching over, she's about to grab another book when someone's hand just happens to get in the way. She looks up, slightly startled. ]
Oh uh. Sorry. My bad.

Antimony Carver || Gunnerkrigg Court
Antimony Carver stepped off the train and into the strange new city with the look of a mildly surprised explorer. There was no hesitation in her step, only the caution of one who doesn't want to create trouble where there wasn't any. She looked at the pocketwatch in her hand, and while she wondered where it came from and how it got there she simply accepted it as another part of the strangeness that was her life. Clutching it in her hand she shut her eyes.
The astral projection of Antimony Carver twisted around to inspect the pocket watch from an angle where she was facing her physical body. In her mind's eye the object glowed, but other than that she didn't recognize anything strange about it. It was a magical item, but she didn't believe it would harm her. She returned to her body and opened its eyes.
The pocketwatch went into her pocket to be investigated later. She wanted to explore a little first.

The clocktower was an excellent place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city below. The movement of the gears was too loud for her to focus on anything in particular unless she really wanted to, which meant that she could turn her attention instead to appreciating her surroundings.
She did so from the roof of the clocktower, having climbed up the sides to get out into the fresh air. But hey, the air is really fresh up here!

Kat had gotten Annie out of her shell, but her love of learning and books didn't just go away. She had found out all she could from the people of this place, and although the useful information of the library was out of reach she could look into other things. Fiction, for example. She scanned the titles looking for something interesting, picking up books and putting them back and picking up other books. Have a suggestion?
Snow Villiers | Final Fantasy 13-2 | 3;2
No, that was a lie. Everything about this place stunk of Cocoon's broken system that had been put in place by the Sanctum fal'Cie. And, unlike back home, he had no one to vent his frustrations to. The benefactors of this place chose to stay out of the limelight, unless it suited them, so that they could use their prisoners for their own entertainment, it felt like.
The pugilist had taken to the patrols of the city like a duck to water. It was just like back home with NORA. Keep the monsters from attacking those who needed defending. Try and have some kind of normalish life until the next crazy thing happened. Make Serah happy and try to stay on Lightning's good side.
But today found him on top of the Clock Tower, looking out over the city, his mind a million miles away from Ruby City. He knew that if anyone who mattered wanted to find him, they'd read the short notes he'd left, or they'd use the pocket watches. It was probably the only thing that he'd picked up since arriving here that even made any kind of warped sense.
