December Test Drive!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
Locations:
1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.
2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?
3. The Beach: You can almost forget you're trapped, in a place like this...
4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.
5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.
6. The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.
7. The Forest: Not a great place to be caught alone, but are you alone?
8. Wildcard: Pick anything from our list!
Scenarios
1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.
2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.
3. Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?
4. Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!
Have fun, guys!

You love meeeee
Allowed? How much had his nephew suffered in exile, to ask such? It felt more than just the fear that some had expressed when they'd pressed on instead of turned back with him. The Oath aside.
"I am not the ruler here. Nor would I turn you away even if I were."
Was it that hard for Maglor to look at him now?
sob
Maglor says softly and still will not meet his uncle's eyes.
"Perhaps even the rulers of this place, whoever they are. Besides... it is probably not safe for me to stay."
>D
"I am not among them." The quiet plea in that voice turned firm and stern. Protective of family, even with all that had occurred.
He stepped forward again, closer, and stretched out a hand to his nephew.
"Were that true, I doubt you would not be here now."
Not safe to stay...? Possibly. But his heart clenched at the thought of losing him again.
"...A short while cannot hurt, if you are resolved to leave again."
/grumbles
"Then many would call you a fool, uncle. You know better than most the Doom that follows me."
A shrug.
"Perhaps. And perhaps they brought me here unknowing of the shadow that dogs my steps."
But he isn't saying no, either.
<3
"Then I am a fool. Better that than one who abandons a second time those he holds dear."
The first time he'd had to live with, and it had almost destroyed him - would have, if he'd not had Earwen still at his side.
"Perhaps they do not know. Perhaps they do, and wished to see what you would make of yourself if given another chance."
The hand remained stretched out, palm up, fingers relaxed.
<3
"You were right to turn back. You did not abandon us - we abandoned you."
A sideways glance of his eyes.
"Then they are the fools, for there is no escape for me, and I can bring only ill fortune. You should go, uncle. There must be places here where you can find rest and ease."
no subject
"Then do not do so again. Let wounds start to heal, if only here while you remain. Let light back into your world of shadow. If they dog your step here, they will be dealt with."
A pause. His voice softened finally, a weary breath escaped.
"You have been missed, Makalaure. I will not lightly turn from you again."
no subject
"And knowing my curse you would still invite me in? There is no more light, uncle, they have passed beyond our reach. I still hear them call me, you know." Almost conversationally.
"Then let me do the wounding and turn instead from you. I am good at that, it seems."
no subject
Arafinwe stepped forward again, this time reaching to latch on to his nephew. He wouldn't let go this time.
"You cannot wound me further than what has already been done. Yet still I have missed you greatly, and you have my forgiveness whether you accept the fact or not."
no subject
"Let me go, Uncle."
Warning, but beneath that - pleading. Please let me do this
no subject
Perhaps he should be worried Maglor would turn and attack him to get free. But that wouldn't change much at all. Arafinwe just kept hold of the wrist he'd caught.
Perhaps the two of them looked foolish like that. Caught interrupted in motion. But he didn't care, not when this was so delicately important.
no subject
"Please" He almost begs.
"I cannot stay. I ... will not let you soil yourself with me!"
no subject
"Love is a stain I am willing to bear. Stay. If only a day."
He wanted longer, but he would accept a day if that was the price of least resistance.
"Walk on the shore with me. I am told they are not far, and they are away from the city." Away from other people. It would just be them. Would that not help, even a little?
no subject
"You should not! Uncle, let me go! I cannot... what if my doom walks closely? Please, I do not want to hurt you."
no subject
"Do you forget? I walked with you. I walked your path until it was no longer my own. Now they are one and the same again. Will you walk with me?"
no subject
But almost unwilling he leans into that hand before remembering and pulling back.
"You should not..."
no subject
"Love." Simple as that.
"Perhaps I should not. Is it so selfish of me to beg a night and a day with kin long lost?"
no subject
"You were never selfish. You were the most selfless of us all, for you thought only of your people, who needed still a king."
His shoulders sag.
"You promise you will not let me hurt you."
no subject
"You cannot govern my heart, Makalaure." Gentle words, daring to touch on playful. "My love is mine to give, and has never waivered.
"All of us did what we felt was best." Even if so much pain had come from it.
The shoulders sagging gave him a measure of bitter sweet hope.
"You have my promise." For he did not believe Maglor would force him to make good on it, even armed where Arafinwe was not.
no subject
"Alright." Quiet defeat. "A night and a day. I will stay that long."
no subject
Hearing what he'd hoped for in concession, he finally released the captured wrist, reaching again to brush fingers through the tangled mass of dark hair.
"Thank you, Nephew." For giving him one last day of memory, if nothing else.
He gave a lock a gentle tug before gesturing in a direction, inviting Maglor to walk with him away from other people as he'd mentioned.
no subject
That last bit is debatableAgain that moment where he leans briefly into the hand before pulling back.
"You may not have cause to thank me if my doom catches me here" He retorts, but he follows obediently when Arafinwe directs, and there is obvious relief that they are going to some place quieter.
no subject
Being a brat isn't.He'd take those moments. They proved the little elfling he'd helped look after was still there. Peeking out before shuffled away again and hidden under shadows.
"Perhaps not. We will face that if it comes."
If. Arafinwe would not make it easy for his kin to be touched here. Hadn't they all gone through enough?
It was a bit of a walk to the nearest stretch of sand, but it was worth it to get away from the crowds and set his nephew's weary heart somewhat at ease.
"You have kept yourself apart, even in exile." Almost a question, a thought from what he'd seen just from how Maglor had been acting until he'd worn him down.
... I swear I hit post
=p"When" For Maglor is certain that it will. It always does.
The sound of the waves brings noticeable comfort, tense lines easing although he never truly settles.
"If to evil ends will all things turn, better I stay away."
Well yes, you did. Just not when you thought you did. XD
Arafinwe also appreciated the soothing sounds of the waves, even if he couldn't always escape long enough to enjoy them. Sometimes he could, and those times he treasured.
Now he could add this to those memories, along with Maglor's childhood.
Totally not blackmail material."Has no good come from all that you have done?" To not even live with a glimmer of joy...How had his nephew managed to remain as sane as he had?
lol
