Overall, the weather is clear, but cold and crisp and the mornings are bringing a thick frost more often than not. The rivers are still flowing, though slow and sluggish and the waterfall in the northern part of the landmass is beginning to freeze in some of the slower-running sections. Trying to walk around it at this point wouldn't be advised, unless you fancy taking an impromptu dip into the icy water of the pool it plunges into.
What wildlife still remaining active is cold and hungry, so travelling unprepared would just be asking for trouble. However, as time wears on and the creatures become increasingly desperate, they will also be easier to take down and will become clumsier and more hurried in their hunting attempts.
City News
As is customary during the holiday period, the ruby obelisk in the centre of the city has transformed into a red pine tree, easily twenty feet in height and with long, deadly-looking needles. What those who have seen it before may notice, however, is that the needles don't seem quite as sharp as usual. There's at least a little warning before they draw blood when you get too close. Keeping with the season, there are also sprigs of mistletoe hung up over several doorways. There isn't anything too untoward about them, but there is definitely at least a compulsion to kiss whoever you might get caught underneath one with. There are also festive decorations available in stores, not only limited to those traditionally associated with Christmas, as well as strings of light attached to battery packs.
Although there has been a general silence from the NPCs for a short time, no doubt one or more will soon be stepping forwards - as is their wont when an event happens that appears to be out of their control. Additionally, now correctly identified as embodiments of the Cardinal Virtues, Dil and her kin may soon decide to take steps to ensure the continuation of their presence. After all, no one likes to be replaced.
With the weather becoming consistently cold, unprotected pipes may begin to freeze. If you're quick, you can save them before they're damaged by the ice forming inside. If you're not.. be prepared for sharing someone else's bathroom and some unscheduled DIY work during the spring.
Finally, though no one noted the disappearance of Killian Jones' ship from the lake after the city and the lands around it shifted, with the return of the pirate himself familiar piece of lumber and the occasional trinket have begun to wash up on the shore, freezing into the ice forming there.

The blood drive and observatory repair logs are still open for tagging to anyone who wants to be involved.
In the woods, close to the city, it is very possible that a casual explorer (or simply someone walking) might come across the corpses of large dead animals such as bears or deer. These creatures have not been killed in any normal way. Rather, examination will reveal that their hearts have been ripped out (Once Upon a Time style). Nothing like this has been seen in the city before, and with the forest spirits mostly sleeping, there aren't a lot of clues to go by...

Our December event, The Mouse King, began yesterday! You can still feel free to discuss and plot in the event post here, and remember that although there was no mingle log to begin the event, there will be a structured log for the defeat of the Mouse King, which will be posted on Friday and slightly forward-dated.

First of all, we would like to remind you that the next activity check, spanning the period from December 6th to January 5th, is check in only. If you are currently on the double activity list, this will carry over to the next check following. However, if you want to hand it in and clear it in the December check, feel free to do that!
Secondly, a quick reminder about the NPC contact. This can be used by anyone, for any reason!
Finally, the first test drive of the new year is going to be a little different. It's about time for a rewrite, and if you'd like to, we would love your input as to the kind of setup you think would work best, or what scenarios you would like to see! We love to hear from you :D
