JANUARY TEST DRIVE!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - The City is currently overrun with the DESPAIR DISEASE, which means some people are more violent than normal, the overall atmosphere is more dreary than it normally would be, and there's some pretty vicious creatures roaming the streets! Also, there's hardly anything to eat. What a frightening thing!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

He curled his upper lip at the name of the agent in question, and while he had few memories of that name in particular, a sensation of alertness paired with dread slipped down his spine. He dropped his head to stare at his own feet for a few moments, leafing through what he remembered and clenching his hands in his pockets. If that man ever came here, there would be blood indeed.

"Delay HYDRA," he corrected softly. "HYDRA is not truly nor easily defeated. Their operations have burrowed deep in many places." He shuffled his shoulders uncomfortably. "Rumlow is dead, yes?"

"I never saw the body myself, but after what happened at SHIELD, I wouldn't be surprised if he was dead," she replied. What he said about HYDRA was sadly accurate. HYDRA buried itself deep within SHIELD for many years. "Steve would like to think he defeated them. But I'm inclined to agree with you. HYDRA seems to survive no matter what." Sharon was realistic, and while she hoped they purged all of HYDRA, there were probably survivors.

"Hmpt, without confirmed death, it's meaningless," he said with a small shake of his head. He had supposed to have died after all, and here he was muddling through the life that he had regained from HYDRA. "It will. HYDRA is an ideal, not a person. As long as one believes, it survives."
codenameagent13: ([serious] i'll be saving my love for you)

[personal profile] codenameagent13 2015-01-12 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Under that logic, then HYDRA will never be defeated," she replied. Sharon wasn't an idealist, but she didn't believe in no win situations either. He made it sound like HYDRA would never be fully eradicated from the world. "People like to follow a leader who has ideals they can get behind. If HYDRA has no leader, then they won't succeed in their plans."

"Perhaps it won't be, just as racism will never truly be eradicated, just flushed to the sides." Having been an inner cog for the HYDRA machinery, he had a few memories on how well the entire organization worked at keeping a low profile since the Second World War. It was impossible to have a grasp on everyone's ideals, especially they could constantly change.

"Weak people follow a leader only. Those with a will of their own need only the power of their ideals. Don't underestimate HYDRA."

[personal profile] codenameagent13 2015-01-13 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not underestimating HYDRA," she said. "I'm merely stating that no one is invincible. Usually with organizations like that, once the leader falls, the followers that are weak will run." Her statement can be supported by history. One example that comes to mind is Hitler's control of Germany.

"The problem with HYDRA is that there are multiple heads leading," he replied with a shrug of his shoulders. He slowly backed off, increasing the distance between them. She had argued enough where he had enough impression that she truly wasn't telling him a lie. She actually believed. "Cut off one head, two more shall take its place. Some members no doubt take the literally."

[personal profile] codenameagent13 2015-01-13 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
"While that is a good analogy, I wonder if HYDRA remembers the legend of Heracles slaying the monster," she mused mostly to herself. Granted they had a pretty lengthy debate just now, she still knew nothing about him and it was irking her. "So is there anything else besides your hatred for HYDRA?" she asked. Sharon was a bit bad at small talk. She liked being straight forward.

"I'm sure they've taken that into account. Hercules just happened to be on ice for seventy years," he reminded as he continued to ease away from her. He had what information that he needed and there was no requirement for violence on his part. He instead pressed his cap down with his right hand. "No. Nothing. I am otherwise empty."
codenameagent13: ([look] high hopes in velvet ropes)

[personal profile] codenameagent13 2015-01-13 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
She had to agree with the comparison of Steve to Hercules. It was fitting.

Even if she didn't trust this stranger, she felt that was quite depressing to hear. "If you're empty then you have to put something back in. Do you go around acting like a zombie?"

She didn't know his full story but it's rare to see someone that had nothing. She didn't believe in hope that much, but she believed that you can do something with the cards you're dealt and you can make your life better.

He paused at her words and tipped his visor up to peer at her with a single eye. "No, I am a ghost," he said simply. Zombies were primal creatures, were they not? He was not mindless either. He was not supposed to exist at all. "It all comes back in time. Perhaps. Or perhaps not."

He turned his back on her and began to walk out of the coffee shop. He had the information that he wanted. For now, that was enough.
