JANUARY TEST DRIVE!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - The City is currently overrun with the DESPAIR DISEASE, which means some people are more violent than normal, the overall atmosphere is more dreary than it normally would be, and there's some pretty vicious creatures roaming the streets! Also, there's hardly anything to eat. What a frightening thing!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

Sharon took the glass and took a sip. Obviously, Steve didn't believe in hovering over people to make sure they do the right thing. This was his friend, and ultimately his decision. "Fair point, Captain," she replied. But it didn't mean that she would trust Bucky. "You know him best." Sharon would keep an eye on him but wouldn't intervene unless someone was in danger.

"You're right, I do," Steve said, and sank down onto the sofa. He rubbed the bridge of his nose tiredly. He didn't want to spend all afternoon arguing with a woman he barely knew.

He looked up. "So... why don't you tell me about yourself?" He apparently didn't know anything about her, after all.

Sharon took a seat next to him. She wasn't sure what he would want to know about her. He knew the important facts. She spied on him while he was with SHIELD and she was Peggy's niece. She really wasn't one to talk about herself. "Well, what do you wanna know?" she asked. This must be what it feels like to go on those awful blind dates.
captain_asthmatic: (Uncertain)

She wasn't really make it easier for him. He spread his hands helplessly. "Well... I don't know. What do you like to do for fun?"

Sharon doesn't make it easy for anyone. "I don't really have much of a social life. I'm always working. I like my job and I have expectations I want to live up to," she admitted with a small smile as she thought about her aunt.

"I like to read." She was scrapping the barrel for some interests she could share with him.
captain_asthmatic: (Playful)

Steve nodded, realizing that he could definitely relate. He smiled a bit sheepishly. "Yeah, I know how you feel. I love reading, too. There's a big library here. No internet, but at least there are things to read." He gestured to a nearby bookshelf, which was jammed with books he'd taken out of the library.

Sharon smiled as she saw the bookcase filled with books. She stood up and walked over to the shelf to browse through the titles. “What do you like to read? Any recommendations?” she asked, looking over her shoulder. She predicted that most of her time here would be spent patrolling or reading. Work usually engulfed her life and she did not think she would get that lucky here. It seemed like a peaceful city. She would have to learn to live a mundane life. She looked back at the shelf and started scanning the titles with her eyes.

"I like a lot of different things. One of the interesting things about the library here is that it has political and historical books from worlds that don't even exist in our universe." He was geeking out a little bit, actually.

But as he got up to show her a couple of volumes that were particularly interesting, his fingers landed on a slim leather-bound volume with no title. This one he slipped out of the shelf and tucked under his arm as he pointed out a couple of tomes. "Do you like science fiction? This series kept me up all night finishing it."

[personal profile] codenameagent13 2015-01-14 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sharon noticed the leather bound book that Steve tucked under his arm. She wasn't going to ask about it. She was sure if it was something important that he needed her to know, he'd tell her. She spent so much time spying on him back in their world, she felt it was only right to not pester him about secrets he wanted to keep.

"I like sci-fi," she answered. "Really into mysteries too." She looked over the books he recommended and pulled the first volume out so she could flip through it.
captain_asthmatic: (What?)

[personal profile] captain_asthmatic 2015-01-14 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Steve certainly hoped that Sharon wouldn't go snooping about the book. It was a special one that he'd gotten from the Overseers, that contained a description of everything that had ever happened to Bucky in his whole life. For obvious reasons, it was very private. He intended to hide it in Bucky's bedroom, for as long as they had guests.

"Oh, mysteries are great," he said cheerfully, and tugged out another book. "You might like this one."

[personal profile] codenameagent13 2015-01-16 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Sharon took the book that he offered her. "Thanks. I'll take a look at it," she said with a smile. "So have you read all of these?" she asked tilting her head towards the books.

Sharon took a seat again and began flipping through the books. Looks like she had something to look forward to when she wouldn't be working for the militia.
captain_asthmatic: (Cute)

[personal profile] captain_asthmatic 2015-01-16 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Steve laughed. "No, not yet. Here are the ones I've read, and then there's this stack that I want to read, and I have four upstairs I'm in the middle of..." Steve was a bit of a book nerd.

He hesitated, looking at her sitting on the sofa. "I'll just... I just need to go upstairs for a minute. Be right back." He started for the steps, to go put that special book away.

[personal profile] codenameagent13 2015-01-19 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, take your time," she said as she looked over the books. She could tell he was an avid reader. At least, the two of them can talk over books and not have to rehash the fact that she was sent to spy on him back in their world. Sharon relaxed on the couch, content to let her guard down for a moment.

Sadly, she could see herself getting comfortable here. But she wasn't sure if she would want to stay under the same roof as Captain America and Bucky Barnes. Especially since Bucky was in the middle of recovering from HYDRA's control. But at least she could keep an eye on the Captain if Bucky lost control.
captain_asthmatic: (Sweet Smile)

Steve wasn't gone long. He slipped upstairs to Bucky's room, and placed the book in the top drawer of his bedside table, then left him a note in the middle of his bed telling him where it was.

Then he returned, made himself that neglected coffee, and then settled on the other end of the sofa with a smile. It was nice to see her relaxing, and he followed suit, grabbing his sketchbook and flipping through the pages until he reached the unfinished sketch he'd been working on at the coffee shop, and then putting pencil to paper.
