Full Weather Report | Threat Report
Though the skies are clear and blue for the most part, the weather is cold and dipping as low as 0°F/-18°C towards the beginning of the week. It's definitely frosty enough that some people will find their doors sticking closed in the mornings, though it's nothing a bit of force won't fix. Be careful, now! Some of those doors can be a bit fragile, especially if they were partially eaten by rats while turned into gingerbread.
The river running through the city is now entirely frozen, save for a thin trickle that can be barely discerned far beneath the surface. However, it is still exhibiting a strange visual effect when the sun hits it just the right way at dusk. At that point, it doesn't appear to be frozen at all...
To the north, the waterfall near the mountains is also frozen in an impressive formation of solid ice.
City News
All is quiet for now, though the continuing cold weather and poor hunting means that the more vicious animals are becoming desperate and are less likely to run when confronted, even when someone they can't likely best. This has raised the threat level as they begin to draw closer to the city again after the defeat of the Mouse King and his minions. Their level of hunger means that even those people who would normally be able to reach and placate these creatures will have a difficult task. Under the city, Atien's pet leviathan has also been oddly quiet...
Inhabited buildings have now been mostly repaired thanks to citizen efforts, though there are a few empty ones that still look dangerously close to falling down (maybe it's only the frost holding them up). The observatory has now been fully repaired and the telescope is operational. Additionally, there is a new book store in the city, as well as a store that looks in the middle of renovations but has a certain aura of magic about it for those able to sense such things. In other parts of the city, it looks like someone has taken a cue from Roman's delinquency. Child's drawings in chalk now 'decorate' the backs of some apartment buildings, ranging from doodles of pretty flowers to crudely drawn bears and bunnies.
Despite the weather and absence of most other plant life, anyone investigating such things will find that any fairy rings are still very much alive and anything growing inside them appears to be in a state of perpetual spring. However, it seems their inhabitants are currently absent.
The increased activity of the NPCs can't possibly be leading to anything good, but since the outing of the 'Virtues' for what they really are, at least some of them seem to be more open to answering questions. Provided they don't get too personal, of course.

Current and Upcoming Events
The first of our Rumor War events has been announced! The Despair Disease questions and plotting post is available for you to read through, and we wholeheartedly recommend that you read all of it! This will be an event which relies heavily on player participation, but not every event will be the same! We intend on breaking up these large events with a few smaller, more low-key ones in between to allow plenty of time for cool-down and personal plots/CR development.
If you have any questions regarding the event, please don't be shy about asking! Chances are if you thought of it, then you're not the only one who is confused.
Miscellaneous
Our January Test Drive is up, rewritten to better suit the feel of the game! We have a lot of interesting characters poking their heads in, so please do take a look! Additionally, the plotting/CR meme is also up for any plotting that you want to do outside of the planned events. Don't be shy about posting to it late or browsing through.
The Activity Check is closing at 11:59PM CST tonight, but please keep in mind that our next activity check on February 5th will allow you to use threads from both December and January to meet activity! After this, the check will return to normal.
Finally, if you are currently unfamiliar with the new game mechanics, we recommend that you read this post thoroughly and make us aware of any questions that you have! We appreciate any and all feedback.
