Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

Always so easy to rile up. She smirked. She continued along the city as she talked, not wanting to waste any time.

"You can make up for it by helping me provide answers, Diaval. I for one do not wish to remain in this human city for too long."

He let out a sharp breath, shoving any irritation (feigned or otherwise) from his mind and stepped quickly until he was back at her side before slowing to her pace.

Diaval looked around again, quickly, alert and curious. "Now that I've found you, that's no problem." He'd been a bit busy before to really look. "We need to get back to the Moores and Aurora."

"Yes, that is why we need to ask questions. Some one brought us here, there is bound to be a way to return home. And should they not... well they will pay for it."

She couldn't help but chuckle there at the plans she was already forming. They would regret sending her here.

Most of what she said had him nodding in agreement, but the threat had him give her a long stare. Not that it ever did any good, but... Diaval gave a silent sigh and just kept walking. She'd change him back eventually and then he could scope out the city.

"Well... While you ask, I can listen."

..."What? Don't look at me like that. They deserve it." Maleficent replied as she caught that stare of his. It was a stare that usually meant he disapproved and usually his disapproval was correct, but most of the time she chose to ignore it.

"Maybe, maybe not. They haven't hurt anyone that I can see." Yet, but he wasn't about to add that. She'd probably take it as an invitation. He rolled his eyes though and looked away. "We'll just have to see for ourselves." And hope Maleficent didn't destroy the whole city in the mean time...

"Diaval, we can't come in looking weak. You know this. The minute they see a sign of weakness they'll try to exploit it. We need to have the upper hand in this...and if a few civilians perish in this then it's their loss. They were fools to get in the way."

... "Yes, mistress."

Diaval grimaced, looking down. She worried, he knew that. She was doing better than when they'd met, kinder, happier. But still...not how she could be. How she should be. And there was precious little he could do to help her, though he tried and did his best.

...."Why do you care so much about the others?"

Maleficent hesitantly asked. He always seemed to side for the people and she never understood why. Especially when a human had almost beat him to death if she hadn't stepped in.

"They wouldn't have shown you mercy."

The hesitation in her voice got him to look back up at her, steps pausing before settling again. Content to keep walking at her side for as long as she wanted him there rather than out flying. He didn't answer immediately, studying her quietly for what her mood really was.

Quietly, "Because you don't dare."

Diaval ducked his head a little again before looking away again.

"I watch them, you know. Yes, there are the merciless humans... But there are also people like Aurora. Kind and good."

As he finished talking, he looked back at her again, hoping she'd listen this time.

There was a long pause and she thought over what Diaval had said and was bold enough to say. He was certainly getting bold. In the past she would have turned him back into a crow for such a comment, only she had invited him into this conversation...He was just simply answering her questions bold as it was. She allowed him to remain as a human as she continued to walk and think.

She could easily have changed him into anything. The fact she didn't... Well, that right there was proof she was slowly changing. Diaval didn't let the silence bother him, it meant she was thinking. And that was another improvement.

This time though, he just kept at her side, silent as they walked. He couldn't quite keep a smile off his face though, and he really didn't try all that hard.
