Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

That embarrassment was shared on some level. Aragorn feltl his face grow warmer as he gladly showed Elros his hand. The Ring of Barahir was unmistakable - it was much, much older than any Ring of Power. However it did not look its age. Even in times of strife, he took care of it.

"We share the Ring of Barahir. It was given to me by Lord Elrond when I came of age." a sign of his birthright, "When he shielded by mother and myself from the Orcs that killed my father, my mother requested that I be called by another name. She wished to further hide my identity. It was thus that I was raised as Estel."

His childhood was a time where he did not question why he was different from his so-called siblings. However, as he grew, so did his number of inquiries.

Elros let out a quiet chuckle, seeing the familiar ring. He moved to clasp it with the hand that bore the younger version.

"It brings joy to my heart to know it remains with my line." But his expression sobered, hearing more of what ill had befallen Aragorn's father. And those that had come before him. Of course Elrond would have found a safe place and opened it to those in need.

"You have lived through much. I could not hope for more than to see how well you have borne it."

The warm clasp of their hands caused him to breathe out a sigh. Elros was real; he wasn't a figment of his imagination or some fell vision sent by the City to tax them. Aragorn tugged on the Half-Elf's hand and drew him into a proper embrace. It didn't last long, but he was smiling widely as they parted.

"It was not only my doings that brought me this far. I have many friends and I wish for you to meet them should they ever arrive."

Oh introductions would happen. And a party.

Not this time. The embrace briefly startled him before he relaxed enough to return it before Aragorn pulled back. Elros felt a grin answer that wide smile, finding it easy to be fond of this man already.

"I think I would find insult if you did not wish me to meet them!" Or at least worry. For what kind of friend of kin would he not wish to meet? But the words held a clear lilt of play.

"Are others of Arda here?" It was a question he probably should have asked before, but the distraction was simple and easy to dismiss.

He would get used to hugs being in Aragorn's presence. The King was not shy about giving them or receiving them if he was fond of his company.

"I would not seek to insult you - of that you can be certain." while there was a playful edge to his words, it was a solemn vow, "Many who are dear to me will delight in seeing you. Aside from your brother, Lord Maglor, Lady Galadriel, Lady Celebrían, Lord Haldir, King Thranduil, Lord Finarfin, Lord Finrod and King Thorin are present."

And none of them remember him.

He would accept them gladly. He did much the same - though generally with those he'd come to know and trusted them well. Some took far longer than others, as Maglor and Maedhros could attest to if consulted.

Speaking of... hearing Maglor was around had his breath catch and eyes widen. In truth, he hardly heard much past that name. Hardly dared hope, and yet this was already a place full of the unexpected and improbable.

Elros took a moment to revel in that before remembering what Aragorn had begun with. Maglor and Elrond, but there were likely others as well. Names he vaguely recalled, though not all were familiar. "I look forward to when I see them." And meet them, in several cases.

In the case of Maglor and Maedhros, other circumstances interfered with Elros feeling comfortable, no doubt. Such problems do not exist between Aragorn and him. Yet let it not be said that deep, unchanging love could not bloom from hardships. He smiled at the tentative hope in Elros's eyes, cocking his head to the side.

"I shall not take too much of your time." he wanted his ancestor(s) to feel the contentment that might have missed them the first time around, "We will have much time to cross the years."

Elros flashed another grin and reached out to rest a hand on Aragorn's shoulder. "I will find them before long." To do anything else would bring wrath down on his head, which was something he wished to avoid - though he knew better than to think for more than a second either hated him.

"And later, I will find you so that we may speak further at length." For he wished to hear all that Aragorn had to say. To learn about his descendant as only face to face could teach. "Go well." And with that, he stepped back, and turned after placing a hand over his heart in a bow of farewell.
