March Test Drive!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

He took the few steps he needed to reach the edge of the awning, looking her over with a faint frown before reaching a hand out to her to draw her under the umbrella. It wasn't exactly proper, she wasn't being accompanied by anyone as she should be (not that it had stopped her before and this place was strange) but that went largely ignored.

"It's alright. I was going to have some tea, we'll get you warmed up there and I'll have someone run you something warm to wear so you don't catch a chill." After a moment of thought, he slipped his outer jacket from his shoulders and offered it.

She didn't argue, even if it was not exactly ladylike to do such a think with your betrothed. On the contrary, she flung her arms around Ciel once she could, without risking the rain, pressing her cheek to his. At least the rain hadn't dampened her exuberance, nor her willingness to completely ignore personal bubbles. Part just plain relief at seeing a familiar face in this strange world, and part habit.

"Oh, Ciel, thank you so much! I was worried I would be stuck here, and everything is so dreary, and--Ciel, your clothes are all mussed." She stopped, pulling away just enough to give him a once over. While Lizzy was no expert, she was to be a wife--And a wife would not allow this to pass. She felt unsure, for a moment. She wasn't going to be innocent and helpless if she actually helped, but...this was a wife's duty.

Tutting, she reached a decision, and started straightening his clothes, retying ties, and putting him in order. "Is Sebastian ill, Ciel? Is he here?" She asked, clearly confused as to how a butler who normally was the very definition of perfection would allow him to leave like this. The coat was accepted, though, and gratefully wrapped around her shoulders. "I would like tea, though..."

Ciel barely had time to brace himself before she threw her arms around him, one hand reaching to wrap around her waist and steady her, still holding the jacket, and almost losing the umbrella with the other.

For a moment, he stood there shocked as she started straightening his clothes. And then he shook himself out of it, carefully tucking the umbrella between his elbow and torso so he could lightly place his hands over hers, stopping her. It wasn't exactly appropriate, they're still young and still only engaged. And he was here to take care of her right now, even if he did look less than presentable.

"Elizabeth, it's alright." He said softly. "Sebastian's missing right now, I've been on my own with Finnian and Ritsuka." He'd have to introduce her to Ritsuka.

And find a lady willing to tend her. After all, who would help Elizabeth dress each day? His clothes were troublesome but Sebastian and his aunt had dressed him as a lady once. He knew ladies had more work to prepare and he was sure she'd have much more trouble than he normally did.

"Come, Le Cafe Anglais isn't far. The tea there is good and we'll find something to eat there as well."

She pouted at him when he tried to stop her, but listened, cheeks puffing out to let him know that she was thoroughly disapproving. This was part of her job! But it would be worse for Ciel to think her too forward than to think that she let him walk with mussed clothes, so her hands rested.

Besides, it was worth it, to have him holding her hands, just like in a romantic play, with the two lovers vowing to never separate, not even unto death! (And then burst into song, though even Lizzy knew Ciel would never agree to such an event)

"Missing...? How can Sebastian be missing?" She asked, looking baffled by the idea. She had no knowledge of Sebastian's...origins, but he had been so proficient, so there, at Ciel's beck and call, the ideal butler. The idea of him missing was as odd as if the moon were to do so.

"Very well, Ciel...But will you tell me what's going on? Where is this place?" She asked, slipping her hand around his arm, like a proper lady being escorted. She felt a great deal better, despite the rain. If Ciel were here, it would be okay. He'd never let anything bad happen. And she would do the same for him...in a quieter way, perhaps.

He reaches lightly and brushed a hand against his cheek briefly, giving her a little smile to reassure her and let her know it was fine before placing his hand over hers where she was holding his arm.

"From what I've learned, he's lost in the catacombs. It's something that happens here frequently enough and with other people. He'll find his way out and make his way back to the manor." He started to explain as he led her towards the cafe. The rain continued to fall as they walked and Ciel made sure to keep the umbrella over Lizzy.

"It's called Ruby City, we don't really know why we're here but it's alright. We have the manor and there are people here that will help us when we need it."

"It's hard to imagine Sebastian lost anywhere..." She murmured, allowing him to lead her, listening to him speak. "He always seems to know where you are, Ciel. But I hope he returns shortly." She wants to promise him, I'll look after you, okay? But she keeps the thoughts to herself...Even if she hadn't wanted to seem domineering, Ciel was too independent.

"The catacombs...That sounds spooky. This entire city does." She glanced around. Well, the city itself didn't seem too bad. But a place that can get Sebastian lost, a place that pulls a person away from their home...

"...Is this Heaven?" She asked quietly, gripping him tighter. "Is that why I can't remember getting here?" It seemed out of the blue, but...Taken from her home with no memory of it, a place where Sebastian couldn't follow. A place that had strange buildings, strange architecture. It certainly didn't look like what Lizzy would have thought Heaven would look like, but who was to tell what it was supposed to look like until you got here.

He couldn't tell her that Sebastian really did know where Ciel always was. The more obviously the contract was placed, the more power they held, the tighter the bond, after all. But she couldn't know that. She'd noticed enough since his return that she didn't need to know about that. No one did.

Except Grimmjow. he thought, almost amused.

"It's usually not so spooky as it seems now. It's mostly the weather. It'll seem better when the rain stops and the sun comes out again." He promised, turning his head to look at her and give her a faint smile. And then he was leading her again to the tea shop, holding the door open for her when they arrived.

He almost froze at the question, forcing himself to keep moving and pull out a seat for her at the nearest table.

"No- no, this isn't Heaven." He couldn't go to heaven. He'd been damned the moment Sebastian had appeared to him. "Ruby City, this place is an entirely different- world, I suppose is the best word for it. People from all different places and times come here. I met a man from a hundred years in our future."

"If you say so, Ciel. If you're here, it can't be that bad!"

There was a great deal of relief when they entered the shop, to be out of the rain, and not just hovering under the awning of some random store. The girl sat down in the chair provided, carefully adjusting her skirts to make sure that everything was in place, and she still looked cute. Always keep an eye on your appearance.

"So...we're not dead, right?" Lizzy asked carefully. She knew the question probably seemed foolish to Ciel, but...It was all so odd. She glanced down, placing her hands carefully in her lap, then looked up, giving Ciel a soft smile. "I'm glad...I was worried I would die before our wedding. I don't know if I like being here, but...it's better than being dead, as long as you're here, Ciel."

Once he was sure Elizabeth was settled comfortably, he motioned for someone to bring them tea. He was known in the cafe so it wouldn't be hard for anyone to guess what he was after. He only ever ordered tea as a drink there and with the weather, it would be obvious.

"We're not dead." He promised, reaching over the table for her hand. Whether she took it or not was up to her but he was trying at least to comfort her. He had to be there for her as much as she tried to be for him. "And you aren't going to die before our wedding. I wouldn't let anything happen to you."

And neither would Sebastian. He knew that Lizzy meant a great deal to the earl.
