April Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

[It's a bumbling detective who's bumped into her, and he's looking very apologetic about it.]

Gee... Sorry, pal! You're right about all that. I don't know where I went wrong! [He rubs at his head nervously and meekly works on stepping to the side.]

[She said behind the alien, holding an umbrella over her head as she watched Stitch. She was watching him with keen interest, but didn't seem to be disturbed by the actions he took. She instead walked closer over to him.]

"No Clue," Greg said, getting off the train behind him, leaning on a staff he no longer needed, guitar across his back, and a grin from ear to ear. Whatever else he may or may not be, the boy was quite amused.

"But I am curious, if you conjured all this up, why exactly you thought to drag me along? Not to be a drag or anything by asking, of course."

Yep, he totally just said that. And he was totally smirking about it.

Gregory Deegan | Dominic Deegan Oracle For Hire - Still settling on canon point

[personal profile] gregorydeegan 2015-04-04 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
9-10

Greg had no clue where he was, really. He knew this wasn't Barthis, he knew the train hadn't been like anything he had ever been on before, and he knew... no one around him.

But just like when he used to fall, forgetting he needed his staff to walk, he wasn't going to let that get him down!

Well, he knew one thing and he knew it well, the best way to get to know a new place was through music. An adage of his father's. Few people believed Donovan Deegan to have much wisdom, but Greg was one of those few.

Since he had his guitar on his back, he found a stone or stump, or something else of the right height to sit on at the park, and tuned up. Once settled, he had to choose a song. Well... this place was, according to the signs, called Ruby City, and he was thinking of his pops... so....

With a grin he began to improvise a new song, eyes half closed, watching the world around him as chords and words issued forth. He was good, but he never saw that, because his father... his father was so much better. And Quilt? Well, he seemed MADE for music.

"Uncle Pinky," he started singing "in the Ruby city.
"Little man who comes to do your taxes in autumn has wandered lost.
Spring is here and he walks the roads
His mark shines in the sun like a scar of pride
what he has endured is is branded on the outside
From the plains of Maltak where humans no longer roam
For a short time, Uncle Pinky called them home.

Uncle Pinky in the Ruby city
So lost, so found, he wanders around
Little man in pink who comes to do your taxes in the fall
So silly so foppish, the smartest of us all.
Uncle Pinky in the ruby city
Struts around like he's so pretty....

Uncle Pinky knows his worth
The players on their stage give him berth
For Uncle pinky, they all adore
But uncle pinky keeps one paramour.
Uncle Pinky tall and proud
Uncle pinky's voice so loud
Hear him strut upon the stage,
Hear him sing in joy and rage.

Uncle Pinky in the ruby city
Down in the muck and the nitty gritty
Uncle Pinky has come to town
and Ruby City's the home he's found..."

He let the last chord fade into the air as he watched anyone who might have stopped to listen. He doubted anyone would, it was, as far as he was concerned, a pretty horrible song. The meter was substandard, the rhyme scheme was uneven... but he did have to almost admit that the chords sounded nice. He might keep the music, but not the lyrics.

Still, the point had been to get a feel for the people, not to write a new song for Oblivion Folder.

Aurora was just finishing up a day in her shop, smiling at her owl friend as he was perched on her shoulder. Yes, today had been another wonderful day, hadn't it? The other birds and animals were all yawning a bit. It had been a long day in the shop, wonderful or not.

However, just as Aurora turned around, she bumped into Ella.

"Oh!" the owl's feather ruffled. "My apologies! Are you alright?"

[Now, depending on how strong Stitch's nose is, he may or may not notice that at first, she smells sweet. Of candies and sweets and soap, of the park and flowers that have been played in. However, she also smells of the stars, of the universe and the cosmos underneath all that.

She reaches out and touches Stitch on the head.]

By now, Galadriel had largely learned her way about the city. Useful, not only for her own benefit, but for helping the new arrivals. And it usually was fairly obvious who was new to the city. There was a particular look about them- mildly frightened, sometimes angry, and always confused. Ella was clearly new- and clearly in need of a little assistance.

She approaches with a soft, sympathetic smile. "Forgive me, but you seem lost."

Meet Nadeshiko

[personal profile] nadenagi 2015-04-04 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
1-1

She slipped out of the train with all the grace he lacked, and then some. A young girl, or so she seemed, in some odd sort of school uniform, with a briefcase like school bag. While the uniform itself, with it's plaid red skirt, plaid red cape, black coat, red tie, white shirt, might have seemed only slightly odd - and the knee length lace up boots might seem just a drop odder.... None of that is likely to be the thing a magic user like him would notice most. Even the odd purple ponytail would pale in comparison to the small kimono wearing girl floating wingless over her shoulder.

The taller girl smiled warmly at him, holding her bag behind her delicately, leaned slightly forward, head tilted just a fraction of an inch as she gave him a warm smile.

"Perhaps whatever you are seeing came from your heart," she said in a soft musical voice. "The you, who you want most to be."

Her smile was almost blinding as she said that, her eyes dancing with amusement, as if at some inner joke.

The small floating kimono wrapped girl beside her grinned and rested on her shoulder. She acted as though she did not notice. It was possible she actually didn't.

Nadeshiko Fujisaki | Shugo Chara | 6 - 3

[personal profile] nadenagi 2015-04-04 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
Nadeshiko sat at the coffee shop, at a table near the window. Her legs were crossed at the ankle, and rested at an angle so that her knees were by the wall and her heels faced the rest of the building. She wore her school uniform, complete with Guardian Cape, so that Tamari and Rhythm's eggs were safe, close to her heart, hidden. Her school bag lay flat in her lap, and she watched the rain fall outside the window, wistfully.

She sipped carefully from her tea every now and then, and shared a plate of cookies with Tamari, subtly breaking off small pieces for her Guardian Chara to eat without drawing attention to the missing bits of food. And so that she didn't soil her kimono.

The Chara could be seen by anyone with magic, not that Nadeshiko knew that. She just knew that she was alone, in a strange place, without her friends. Her long ponytail bobbed whenever she took a sip, but mostly she stared out at the rain, with small sighs.

Nagihiko Fujisaki | Shugo Chara | 5-1

[personal profile] nadenagi 2015-04-04 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
Nadeshiko had gotten herself settled in, met a few people, made some appearances, but it was time for her to rest. So Nagihiko was taking his turn to explore this new city.

"And the best way to do that... is from up there," Rhythm suggested, pointing to the top of the clock tower.

Well... why not? The rain had stopped, and it wasn't like he was afraid of a broken leg. He didn't fall that easily. So he followed Rhythm up the stairs, whistling to himself as he went.

When they came to the top, he found a rail to lean against, and looked out over the world. He leaned his full weight forward on the rail carelessly, legs spread far out behind him, arms across the top of the rail, chin digging into his own wrist. Rhythm had been right. They could see the whole City from up there, it seemed.

It was pretty awesome. Still... he wished Amu or Rima were there... to see it with him.

[ New arrivals had a way of making themselves stand out probably; and this young lady was no exception- running down the streets yelling out a number of different things: 'Young Master!' or names like Sebastian, Finny and Baldroy. She's quite obviously in a hurry, which is - for her - a big mistake. Her foot catches on the ground and she goes sprawling forward. Instinctively she reaches for a nearby guard rail to try and catch herself.

...however, rather than help, the poor guard rail is taken out with her, leaving her on the ground on top of the rusty, broken railing.

It only takes a moment for it to sink in.
]

AHHHHHH!! Oh no! Now I've done it--

[ Will you simply watch the poor maid trying (with little luck) to try and put the guard rail back, or will you give her a hand? ]

【5-1】

[ It felt like there was so much to see all around her. From the time she'd arrived, it felt like she'd been running around aimlessly, even though that wasn't necessarily true. She'd taken the opportunity to read the provided information and she understood it well enough in theory, but it did nothing to ease her worries. She had been separated from the young master and the others and that was the only thing she could think about.

For her, this place was the best place to gather her wits. From here, she could see the whole layout of the city and understand it in a way that she probably wouldn't have if she'd continued to run around. She'd put her glasses atop her head to travel up the narrow staircase and to look at the view - which might seem odd in and of itself. She's solemn and serious as she looks out. The distress of her situation is written clearly on her face as she lets it hit her. She has to find the young master and Sebastian as soon as possible.
]

【3-6】

[ There were a lot of people who were hungry and... this place... well, no one was helping them like they should. Perhaps they were simply understaffed... Well, someone had approached her, asking for something and one thing led to another and instinct kicked in and she ended up running about trying to help feed the hungry customers.

Was she supposed to? Probably not. Had anyone stopped her? Not yet, anyway...

[Finny had been taking care of Ciel since the other had been sick, though now that the young master was recovered he was out trying to pick things up to plant around the manor. Especially since he had accidentally knocked over a few of the trees when he had been upset the day earlier, and had accidentally torn up half the garden when there was a wild beast.

1-1

[ There was much to think of and much to see and no small part of those things were strange and new and altogether disorienting; a still she disembarked from the train, fingers lingering on the cool metal as they did, with a sense of grace. Her steps were slow but altogether without doubt. Arwen's eyes were drawn to the informational posters and so to them she went, gentry reaching up to trace the paths with her finger. From this she could see only the city itself; it did not relay to her information of the surrounding areas or the paths that had lead her here. With just this information, she would not be able to make the journey back. ]

2-3

[ Boots stripped off her feet, Arwen touched the bare sand and felt it squish between her toes pleasantly. Even so, it was cold; it probably hadn't seen the sun in hours, but even so it did not deter her. Rather, it seemed that she welcomed the cool, damp air and the cold, shifting sand. Slowly, drops of water fell. First one, two, three at a time- barely noticeable drips. But slowly, yet surely, more fell. It was not a heavy rain, but it was steady. Arwen held up her hands, welcoming the touch of the rain. And she would remain that way for a long time. ]

9-8

[ Arwen was aware of eyes upon her back; of the soft sound of grass moving under small feet. They are different from the footfalls of humans- and they are advancing at a swift pace, sure and stealthy. Her hand itches at her side. She has a knife on her but if she is correct, there are no fewer than three. Competing evenly with that number of beasts with only this would be impossible. So that meant she needed to reconsider her other options. The park was a very open space. Hiding was not an option. At the edge, there were trees but her chances of making it to them before the beasts could catch her were not ones she would bet upon. Then that left...

Her eyes connected with another person visiting the park.

She had no way of knowing what they were capable of, and yet appealing to them was her best chance at coming out of this fight the clear victor. In her eyes it was clear- she was asking for their assistance. What they would do... she could only wait.

Belial | The Tarot Cafe

[personal profile] noble_of_malice 2015-04-05 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
[6-1]

[To think that a prince of Hell would be trapped in a city an unable to do anything, once more that it would be in a place as run down and desolate as this. Belial would almost have rather remained isolated in his own castle. The worst part though was that those that entertained him the most were not here, he had simply seen a number of humans and elves which had posed little interest to him.

Sitting in the café it was at least a small reminder of her, and of that place that had captured his attention for all that time.]

I’ll have to find a new way to kill my boredom.

[9-4]
[Well it seemed like the park was certainly a place to see at least a few interesting things, and Belial had taken to watching from one of the trees as the creatures below milled around. Though at the moment it seemed that one person was misfortunate enough to catch their attention, maybe if that unfortunate soul asked for a bit of help he would step in since the creatures feared the demon.]

[5-1]
[Hopefully whoever had been thinking on the balcony of the clocktower didn’t mind the company. It might have seemed that he appeared out of nowhere but Belial took a seat on the edge of the railing looking out over the city where he had recently arrived.]

It’s not very much to look at compared to some places.

[Then it was far better than a number of places that he had visited as well. Still the fresh breath of air outside of the confines of Pandemonium, his palace, was a little refreshing after six decades. Here he might be able to entertain himself for a little while until he could find out who had interfered with his plans and trapped him in this city.]

[Well it was the last smoke that he had, but then when in hell you didn’t think much further than your last smoke anyways. Lighting it up Bernadotte stepped off the train, having half expected to see some cheesy montage of all the moments in his life, a flash of still shots of the moments that he had spent with his men, and the last few months that he had spent at Hellsing. Instead it had been a pleasantly quiet ride.]

Well, I suppose I should be glad I didn’t have to pay the toll to cross the river with that skeletal bastard they go one about.

[Taking a long drag from the cigarette he looked around. He couldn’t help but think of Seras and wonder how she was.]

So I wonder just what kind of hell hole that I’m in now? Guess that this place can’t be quite the same pit as that place, huh Mon cher?

[For anyone who found him, he would look like hell, covered in blood with hair that had been abruptly braided once more and simply tied with a torn piece of cloth.]

[There was the smell of blood and that was more than enough to gain a certain huntress's attention while she was out on her nightly walk. So with a minor change in course, she headed into the train station and followed that delicious scent.

Or it would have been delicious if she hadn't spotted the source of the beautiful red liquid lighting up a cigarette. She wrinkled her nose slightly before speaking up. ]

I suppose that you could say it was a bit of both. She was a bear of a woman, but it was one hell of a battle as well. To die in a blaze of bullets and blood among a slaughter between man and monster, all to save a girl and country, it all seems a bit too grand for a dog like me. Yet that is how it happened.

[He was completely unphased by the arrival of this woman, though out of courtesy he did at least turn to look at her and acknowledge Rip. Trying to straighten himself up a bit though the Hellsing uniform was certainly in tatters.]

But then a mysterious train taking you to some unknown land I suppose is a thing of fairy-tales as well.
