April Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

Martha Jones | Doctor Who | 1 + 8

Stepping off the train, Martha took a long look around her, and as she did, she felt a prickle on the back of her neck. She glanced behind her again, because that feeling was all too familiar. No one was standing there, of course, but she still felt that someone, or some thing, was watching her. Too bad she didn't have a gun or other weapon on her person right now, because if there was some threat out there, she was quite a bit more vulnerable than she'd have liked.

But rather than standing around, which seemed daft, she decided that heading for the nearest building and finding someone who looked halfway decent and like they knew what was going on was the wiser choice here.

Approaching, she knocked on the door, turned the handle, and stuck her head in. "Hello, anyone here? Sorry about the interruption, but I was wondering if you knew where this is. Those posters back there said something about Ruby City, but where's that even located? What planet is this?" That might raise some eyebrows, asking about specific planets, but there were ways to get answers, and being direct was one of them.

And if there was someone following her, hopefully they hadn't noticed her ducking into whatever operation this was.

Fingon | Silmarillion

This new arrival doesn't step onto the the platform as much as he faceplants on it. It's a stumble and staggering that ends with him falling at the last stair and falling, only marginally catching himself. For a moment, he just lies there, barely conscious.

That he just fell from a bit over ground and landed on a hard surface is only part of this. Him being heavily founded and bleeding might also be a reason. As is, probably, the multiple fresh burns, one of them mostly covered by the helmet that still sits on his head even though it has been split in the middle right at the top.

His clothes are also smouldering and even burning in a few places, and that is what finally makes him move. Not much, though. He rolls over onto his belly. And then again. Flop, flop, flop, Finwean baked roll slowly flopping down the platform in an attempt to put out the fires on himself before they can spread and grow.

Ned Stark || Game of Thrones | 8+3

[Ned looked up at the sky and felt the cold, cutting wind slice through his warm furs, as the snow fell softly. Although, he could feel the cold, he did not find it unwelcoming, as he was used to the cold back home. He practically felt nothing even with the cold wind and snow falling all around him. Yet, he was far from home. The city street he was currently standing in was nothing like his home. How on earth had he got here?

Was he dreaming? Had he drank too much wine whilst dining with Robert, the king, last night? The snow felt so real though and the wind felt like a familiar embrace for him. He also felt something heavy in his thick fur cloak's pocket. Delving a hand inside, he pulled out a fancy gold time piece of sorts. He had never seen such a thing before but guessed it was worth a few gold. Why had he come here? For what purpose? He wanted to see a friendly face right now; Jon, Bran, Robb, Arya, Sansa.....where were they? Caitlin, his wife. He was a stranger in these lands.

Brandon Stark | Game of Thrones

[ Option 1-1 ]

[ The last thing Bran remembered was falling. He'd seen the Queen and her brother in the Broken Tower and then...And then he had been falling but he did not remember hitting the ground. His direwolf pup, that he had still not named, was by his side as he looked around. Wherever he was, it wasn't Winterfell. He looked down at his pup, walking out of the station. ] Let's go explore.

[ Option 6-6 ]

[ Bran had followed both his nose and his direwolf's nose to a building named the Coffee Joint. He had no idea what that meant but they were both hungry. He was unsure how to go about purchasing any food as Winterfell always had food in the kitchens should he need it. But perhaps if he looked in through the window, he could learn how this city operated. ]

Blackarachnia | Beast Wars

[personal profile] treacherous_widow 2015-04-21 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Option 1-1 | Action ]

[This was NOT what she was expecting when she woke up from repairs. When the slag did this mudball of a planet get a train and what in the pit was she doing on it!? Lets just say a certain widow was on edge when she stepped off the train and scanned the station.

The posters caught her optics immediately and she honed in to read them as a claw settled on her hip. Ruby City? Either the apes suddenly learned to do something other than eat fleas or there was something very wrong here.

Very, very wrong and she did NOT like it. ]

[Option 9-2 | Video]

So, which one of you dupe heads is the one in charge? I'd like a word with you.

[Moments later someone strange and with a very metallic black gold look along with a spider theme appeared on the network and she wasn't happy in the slightest. Blackarachnia's black optics were glaring down at the small little watch in her claws. This this was so slagging primitive that she was surprised it still worked!]

I don't appreciate being dragged away of my repairs and put on a train to Primus knows where without my consent. So someone better have some answers or this spider is going to start causing problems until I get an answer.

[She shifts the device a little and everyone watching can catch a the brief sight of very large pincer like claws that are holding her watch and trees. Someone's out in the park by the looks of it.]

So start talking.

Miriel | Tolkien

2-1
The wind blew, threatening to tear away a star-studded cloak from an elven woman, pale of face and hair. Frail though she looked, her hands drew the cloak closer about her, maintaining a firm hold on it as she walked. Feet bared, though she seemed not to notice as she walked along the sands. Unhurried, soundless steps even when the wind and sea were silent. Only the ruffle of cloth could be heard.

A ghost? The woman was pale enough. Frail enough. Gentle enough.

Yet strong enough to keep on going. Keep on walking, holding the cloak of memory around her. Those that knew the story of her family would recognize the scenes woven in amongst the stars of the cloak itself with a skill rivalled by few.

Questions tumbled through her mind. Where were the Valar? She could see no one familiar. This was not where she was meant to be, that she knew of. That she'd seen. Where elves were resistant to cold and the weather, she felt the wind. She felt the air and the chill.

But this time she would not let it beat her down nor batter her away.
